The umbilical cord. I was 18 when i had my DD1 and nobody told me how long and ugly it was. Still haven't got over the shock and i'm now 38.Also after pains. We go through all the labour pains and dear mother nature gives us more pain. Life is so unfair. And i've got P.M.T sorry.
We didn't see ours. The midwife offered us a look but we demurred.0 -
Why is it you always know someone who has had the perfect pregnancy, perfect birth and perfect baby? And they go on about how easy it all is? Then you feel like a complete failure for having morning sickness, tiredness, being made to rest and every other blooming difficulty under the sun?
And why do people insist on commenting on how your bump is too big/small/round/long?£4000 challenge

When i was giving birth to DS1, the MW explained to me that my knickers WOULD HAVE TO COME OFF!!!
When I had DD1, Hub cried so much that I had to get out of bed straight away to phone the relatives!!!

That when it all goes wrong, you still get flashbacks and nightmares two years later, no matter how many people tell you you should just be thankful you both got through it.
I'm so pleased you posted this!
I've never admitted to anyone (apart from my OH) about my flashbacks from the birth of my eldest daughter as I thought people would have thought me crazy. It took a few months to realise what was actually going on in my head as I'd never experienced anything like it before.
I didn't feel too traumatised at the time as I think you just cope with whatever is being thrown at you, but I think it was some sort of delayed shock going on perhaps? They could happen at any time, even when I was in the middle of a completely unrelated conversation and it could often be quite frightening.
Funnily enough though, I had another daughter this year and the flashbacks have completely stopped now (hopefully for good?)
"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

this thread is soooo funny, I remember being so exhausted after 15hours of labour and nearly an hour pushing that I told the midwife 'to get up there and get it out , cos I'm not doing any more!' and having that first wee with stitches! yow! (I was then advised to pour a jug of warm water through your legs whilst wee'ing.....bliss!
)
good luck to all pregnant ladies (its so worth it!):A I WILL NOT USE MY SWITCH CARD:A0
