Hi Guys, Well i'm back on after 3 months maternity leave.Had to come back to work part time as they also don't tell you that the maternity money is so !!!!!! that you can hardley afford to pay the mortgage !!Stuff they 'Forget' I had an emergency CS i was fully aware that stuff was going to happen to my body but ................i was due on the 2nd of July, my maternity leave began on the 5th June...... on the 28th May my waters began to leak (For anyone who hasn't had this pleasant experience it's like you pee yourself everytime you stand up / sit down etc.)I went to hospital to get a check up at 2pm, by 8pm we were till sitting wating for a doctor to see me, who then whafted into the room demanding to see my panty pad to check that it was really amniotic fluid :mad:funnilly enough it was !!!!!anyway i was subsequently kept in until the 6th june and was told every day that they 'might' be able to let me home today !!i was send down for a scan to check everything was ok, then i was told he was breach  i'll have to stay in again.i was then advised i would have to have a CS either on the friday coming or the next monday as they don't do them over the weekend !that night i went into labour (Hmm that hurts by the way, although not as bad as i thought, although i only got to 4cm so fair play to all of you girls that do the other 6)and was not taken or rushed should i say down until 8am the next morning.it was like a scene from ER !!!They don't tell you things they bark at you do this do that, right i'm going to shave you now, right i'm now putting in a catheter and all the time in the background some body is saying have you got and dentures or metal plates ? i'm crying shouting I DON'T KNOW WHERE IS MY PARTNER !!!!!they also don't tell you how much a CS hurts afterwards, during is ok... well it was for me anyway, i tried to get up as quicky as possible and tried to walk targets, ie to the door and back to the cot and back.doing a pooh...... i lied and said i had done one as i was sick of being asked it all the time :mad:i did one at home after 4 days and it took round about an hour in total to get it out, and it was only the size of a malteaser !!sneezing/ coughing /laughing anything like that will make you insides feel like they are going to pop !Also how guilty the midwifes make you feel about breastfeeding , that really annoyed me, it was taking me 10 minutes to get out of bed but 45 minutes to get back in and my baby was feeding every hour on the hour !!!! i asked the midwife for help and she just tutted at me and shook her head, i felt like such a failure.the date i gave birth 7/6 was the 2 weeks where it was really hot, now everyday i was having salad for lunch and dinner and not ONCE did a midwife explain that the reason my baby was constantly hungry was because i had to eat differently !!I managed to breastfeed for 4 weeks and after that i couldn't cope with it, i moved him onto bottles and was made to feel like a bad mother.Oh and the last thing, filling in the edinburgh PND form and apparently getting a 'high score' and being asked if i wanted to have anti depressents !!!! I got a high score because i had just had a baby and everything was making me cry !!!0

Cullumpster, firstly big congratulations!
Your thread did make me feel angry for you though and kind of struck a nerve, as I posted the other day I had retained placenta so had to go into theatre an hour after birth and I felt the midwives and surgical team handled it very insensitively.
They were putting so much pressure on me to get the placenta out that I didn't bf DS at first, then whilst I was whisked away to the OR they handed my OH a bottle of formula to feed the baby with (shock)
They then left me in the recovery room alone for over an hour with no good reason (which OH and baby were not allowed into) and later explained it was because there was no porter available to push me the 30 metres or so back to the delivery room.
I laso lied about the first wee/poo as a friend had alrwady advised me too so they left me alone!
Then every midwife/HV visit I was made to feel like crap because I wasn't breastfeeding. One midwife literally grabbed DS's head and shoved it into my chest!!??
Like I said before, homebirth next time, and I will opt out of any clinic/midwife visits, bar the essential ones.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -

I thought I could get away with carrying a shopping basket around Asda this week...unfortunately the amount of stuff I put in it meant I could no longer carry it.
Cue one embarrassed 25 week pregnant woman asking a sales assistant if someone could fetch me a trolley...
