hahaha!! Emlou I was the same, daughter had masses of hair and they couldn't get the wee electronic things to stick on her head cause of it...I didn't mean to but I shouted out really loudly 'it better not be bloody ginger' and the midwife just looked at me and laughed, she says no no it's o.k it's black, I only asked because I had a bet on with OH that she'd be dark haired but because he was born with ginger hair he thought it was going to be that colour...He's still never given me my fiver!!

No matter how down or how low your self esteem is, you did something wonderful and produced this gorgeous pink wringling bundle who will always love you unconditonally!

    Aww :j

It's funny you should say that because my mum has always said that babies don't love you, they just need you ;) it's not until they get older that you get any love back (normally with a pile of dirty washing she said) :p

. I got so fed up with the whole pushing thing that I said to her 'just grab him by the ears and pull him out will you?' and she said if I could see his ears I would - I thought '!!!!!! what do you mean you can't see his ears' they are only half way down the head for God's sake :rotfl:

ROTFL - when I was delivering my 2nd the mw decided the epidural had worked (nope) and took the g&a off me so was delivering with no pain relief, my contraction had passed and I could feel absolutely everything but no contraction = no urge to push so dh decided to urge me on by telling me 'Keep pushing, I can see the ears' I muttered 'You can see the ******* ears?????' feeling the contraction building I reached up and grabbed the hair at the nape of his neck and pulled for all I was worth until dd arrived!

And I was violently sick with both of mine, needed anti emetic meds! Why does no one tell you this stuff?

I've only read the last page of this thread but I laughed so much, I so agree about feeling like passing a bowling ball! OUCH!!!!!! I expected it only to take 10 mins to push him out when got to the pushing stage but it took an hour and he kept slipping back it was only once his head was actually out they reaslised he had one hand up beside his face!!! I escaped with no tears from the head but a big tear near my urethra from his fingernails lol!!! Little nightmare  I had a waterbirth but got out at the last min when his head was crowning. I was convinced the whole time I couldn't do it and kept saying I can't do it just get it (he was a surprise) out. I swore for about 2 weeks after I had him i couldn't do it again but I already want another one! :o I thought I would spend the whole time shouting and swearing at my OH but surprisingly was very quiet the whole time and hardly said a word! So unlike me lol

  • One thing they do tell you is that during pregnancy you are likely to have "increased discharge"

What they dont tell you is that discharge will have you running to the nearest toilet thinking you have miscarried :(

That you will never underestimate the power of your pelvis and how much it controls your ability to move - SPD ouchies!

The nightmares you have about being unprepared! I dreamt in several occasions that I was giving birth to 7 babies, but only had enough stuff for one.

How fussy I would be, being a first time mother! I have bought everything new and given the hand-me-downs to the charity shop! (when previously i have said I would have nothing against hand-me-downs as the baby grows so quick.

How unbelievable my fiance is! I'm 7 months pregnant now and it has got to the point where I can't bend down - so he is now shaving me. The amount of abuse I throw at him and he just takes.

How judgemental other people are!! Other women see the bump then automatically look for the wedding ring only to see an engagement ring (which i have worn for 4 years) and give you the dirtiest look!

And just to top it off -- No-one tells you just how angry and emotional you will be for 9 months, I'm suprised i haven't been punched yet!!

I swear I was never told about the delivery of the placenta...... the most bizarre (not painful) feeling ever. I would have appreciated a little more warning as to what it was like as it was a bit of a suprise!!!!

I had G&A while pushing at both my hospital and home birth Although I didn't use for my 1st (hospital) one because I was using my hands to grip the bed and it fell out of my mouth when I screamed :p
I'm so glad I didn't realise how much bigger my 2nd would be (1lb 12oz bigger ) If I knew that I would have been crapping myself before hand, denial is a wonderful thing!
