I was admiring this and thinking that I hadn't done any Xstitch for ages
lounge looks more like a sewing shop than a living room with machine ironing and scraps all over but it was a morning spent well.

Hi everyone - I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted! I have no idea where the time goes, but go it does, at a rate of knots. DH and I have been busy at the holiday home we look after. The owners have sold it (mainly because they didn't use it enough themselves) so that marks the end of what was a nice little job (although I shan't miss doing the laundry and making up all the beds - three doubles and two twins). The new owners have bought most of the furniture (all of which is lovely) but they have a few things left over, so we have been taking photos of it all in situ, then will bring it back to our house and try and sell it from there, rather than to-ing and fro-ing between their house and ours if someone wants to look at it. Fingers crossed it will all sell at a fair price, but that remains to be seen. We can store it in one of our barns but can't find a permanent home for any of it because, when we move back to the UK (eventually!), we will need to get rid of some of our own furniture. Anyway, that has been this week's main project; I just need to get it listed on the websites here.

Chalky - I am so pleased that I was able to see the article on FB. I have asked a good friend at home to pick me up a copy of the magazine, too, so that I can keep it. It's not every day we have someone famous in our midst! You look lovely in the photo! I hope you get lots of new visitors to your blog, and I'm sure you will have inspired many people to take up the woolly stuff!

Jean - I still haven't been in touch with that agent you put me on to, but I hope to over the weekend. I have put the house with two new agents here (both English) and have kept one of the French agents, the best one! We have listed a few more jobs to do on the house, and will try and get them done over the next couple of months, so hope they will make the house more appealing. All the agents have said that our asking price is about right, so we are just waiting for that elusive buyer. It will happen when it happens, as my Mum would say.

I have made a start on a new blanket (for the care home that my Mum is in) but am also working on a cushion for my sister (the one who lost her DH last year). I'm doing it in small 3" granny squares in a selection of colours, along with white, and I am looking for a way to make it really special. I have bought some lovely buttons for it, and may put some lace on it, too.

I have almost completely emptied a huge box that contained all my DK wool; I can't believe that I've done it, and must have done millions of stitches over the last couple of months (and loved doing each and every one of them). The box now needs to be restocked, which I will really enjoy doing. So far, we are planning a visit home in May. DH has work (for customers) lined up for the next month or so, so we hope to go back home in the half term. I have found one shop here that sells odd balls of wool, so I hope to get a supply from there before I can get home.

Anyway, we have a lovely day here today, warm, bright and sunny. DH has just dug up a plum tree that was growing into our bay tree, and has found a new home for it, so fingers crossed that it 'takes'. The swallows are coming back in bigger numbers now, and we saw the first hoopoe of the season yesterday, so spring is on the way and, of course, the clocks go forward this weekend, too, plus it's Mothering Sunday (and DH's birthday) on Sunday, so a good weekend ahead, methinks.

I hope you are all keeping well, and am thinking of you all, especially those who are worried or unwell.

Hi kathy, lovely to hear from you. Boy have you been busy - empty box :jready to re-fill :T:T

I have been desperately trying to use up my supplies of yarn in my bid to de -clutter then a friend sent me 2 big bags of yarn to make her a blanket and told me too keep what was left as a thank you. Oh well I can de- clutter another day :D

My Mum loved seeing Chalky in the WW. She said 'she is really into the internet, isnt she ? ' My Sil ( the evil one ) retired last year and thought she would have time to do the whole 'ladies who lunch' thing till she realised she has no friends, at all. Mum thinks its fab that I have such wonderful friends even though Im mostly housebound.

Had a lousy day yesterday with one thing and another and got very upset when I went for a chat at Macmillan centre but you know it did me good to talk and I feel a bit lighter today.

Hugs to all, Roamin thats a lovely verse. xx

Oh, Jean - hugs to you.

Chalky - hugs to you, too; I know you lost your mum some years ago.

I know it's Mothering Sunday but it's a bitter-sweet time for so many of us, for those who have lost their mums for ever (apart from that special place in the heart), and those who can see them slipping away from them. I wish a peaceful day for mothers everywhere; you are all special ladies. And now my screen is wobbling!
