    morning all
sorry had a long weekend off and spent two days of it working in the garden, felt like we achieved a lot so it was worth it.

DH took me in 2 different craft shops, we were planning on getting DD2 a knitting bag for her birthday as we weren't sure what to get her and she seems to be really enjoying her new found hobby at the mo. anyway found a lovley bag in a shop on the edge of the city, then discovered that there is a wool shop in the village DD1 lives in. and it sells yarn in the sort of style like the lace with holes running along the edge to knit or crochet into got a ball of what looks like fake fur trimmed schachenmayr smc foxy it is gorgeous a ball is a scarf and it crocheted up in under an hour! that is another little extra for DD2s birthday they have a website knitSMC.com if you want a looky.
the other ball i got is like a fishnet cotton in shades of red it knits into a lacy ruffled scarf, i might keep that but NEED to go back for more as shes got a 20% off sale and im sure a friend would love one for her birthday.

hugs to all the poorlies and those feeling down at the moment, i do hope things improve soon.

not about this afternoon as i have a funeral to go to.

:( Not a happy bunny here.

Had to phone the hospital secretary and cancel my admission, cough has got worse again, head is stuffed up and sneezing fit to burst.

Just have to get on with the crafting then. Every cloud and all that.

  • Well, obviously its no this week then - you will just have to start wearing a mask (and flippers or is that slippers) and not let anyone anywhere near you if they are infectious!! I am sniffy as well and my throat is swollen BUT I AIN'T GOING ANYWHERE NEAR THE QUACK!
Hope you shift the lot in jig time - then they can proceed to make you all better and well.

    Hi everyone

Elaine - I hope you get better very soon and can get that hospital visit over and done with.

Jean - I hope you feel better soon, too. I can understand why you want to avoid the doctor!

I have just done the update which you can find here:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhOgVamMPLdkdDREdE9nS2pPYTRlcFQ3Ujc5ekNKamc&usp=drive_web#gid=0

I have added 1 scarf and 1 baby blanket to my total this week. They are both made in 4-ply of which I have loads so I am trying to use it all up, but I find the thinner wool and smaller hook a bit hard going (which is why the blanket is baby-sized and not lap-sized!) I am still making a blanket in DK which is striped in lots of different colours to use up all the oddments I have. My stash is going down so I can really have a good spend-up when I am back in the UK!

Anyway, DH wants me to write some emails for him, so I had better go and get them done.

Having a change from hedgehogs today. Tried looking for ways to crochet Rico pompom on t`internet and found this.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSQ8SmBaVb0

Adapted it to start a blanket, just hope I have enough yarn. I`m using the pompom stuff and a big ball of lilac which have both been lying in the bottom of the tub for a while. Really easy to do and is quite effective, a change from granny squares.

Kathy, can you not double up the four ply = dk ? Would use up stash faster and be quicker to work up.

Still coughing and spluttering and no energy for anything other than sitting with my wool and hook and audiobook.
bet you didn`t know I`m a poet :rotfl:

Kitchen decorating has taken a back seat for the moment - I wear blinkers when I go to make a cuppa.;)

  • Love the bobble blanket - still not tempted to pull out the three balls I have of it and do a project - its staying hidden for the time being. While hunting through the heap I came across something that looks just like a ball of fringing - so off I went and came up with necklaces -

    http://www.numei.com/crochetpatterns_ladderribbonnecklace.htm

so perhaps I will have a go at them the patterns are all free - not sure how much the yarn would cost - but I am certain we all have sort of "novelty" yarn that would do the trick.

Off to get into the shower I have been planting up in the poly tunnel and I am just a wee bit in need of warm water all over the bod to revive me.
Loads and loads of love and cuddles to you all

Well I hope the prize is from one of the competitions I just entered on the Womans Weekly site - wishing for a short break for me and hubby, Cornwall would be good :D

Apologys to those of a nervous disposition that saw the C word mentioned in March :o
