One of the drivers at work came in in a foul mood on Thursday because he'd given up chocolate for Lent , I didn't like to point out that it was only the first day.
I gave up meat one year which was fairly easy .DD1 was already a vegetarian so I was already cooking veggie meals. The only problem was that after a while I found I was very aware of the smell of meat and couldn't stand going into the butchers.
Our Parish Priest says that we can either give something up or do something for Lent hence the charity knitting when I have some lovely sock wool that I'm dying to knit up.

The first scarf is nearly finished.

    ON A ROLL

FURTHER WEEKLY UPDATE - smoking needles here!

WAS 6 Innocent Smoothie hats PLUS ANOTHER TWO - can't sleep! so it's now 8

I have avoided doing these for the previous 2 years but feel I really can use up a load of DK and doubled up 4 ply and support a great cause.
    Off to update my signature.

PSSO- will have to find out just what prosecco tastes like - so I can join you in at least half of the big bottle!

WE HAVE SUNSHINE TODAY! - yippeeeeee

NOTE TO EVERYBODY - I have made an unilateral discission (is that proper EEEENGRISHSH or am I slavering again)
We now have a column on the spready for HEDGEHOGS - because I think they deserve it - and I have popped the previous
toy Hedgies into the relevant column - I promise one day to explain the workings of that spready explicitly to Mioliere then such decisions
can be hers - yes I do have sloping shoulders !)

Afternoon all, as I didn`t have much success with posting last night, I`ll try again today. Have typed it into a word document just in case it all goes haywire again.

Firstly, well done F1 on answering your own question, sensible girl. You would not have been happy with a less than perfect blanket. So much better to use the yarn for scarves or socks instead.
By the way, try not to worry you say ? I saw a lovely towel the other week with my new mantra on it. I will try to put the pic up. Tried to do it last night but flickr wasn`t playing ball. Grrrr.

Ginnyknit – do NOT pay any heed to that Roamin lassie casting aspersions on my crochet. I TOLD her I couldn`t count to four and don`t know my back from my front posts for that basketweave thingummyjig. Anyway, she`s got no room to speak. I showed her two years ago come May how to use that knitting in lace to make a Christmas tree for her DWS. Even gave her the wool and lace so she had no excuse.

Has she done it ? I think NOT. Pot, kettle etc springs to mind. (Love her to bits really but don`t tell her, her head will get too big to get through the bloomin door ):D

Ah Roamin – Trying to get into my good books again offering sea, sand and fish and chips…..maybe a bittie sun thrown in to make it extra special ? Sing along now, `These are a few of my favourite things`
    You temptress, you.;)
Hope the `grapes` are not so bothersome. Warm salty bath might help.

Thirzah – keep up the good work.

Shaz, nice to see you posting.

Well my wee slurp of prosecco has helped my cough no end. Much `looser` and not so painful so will probably [STRIKE]finish the bottle[/STRIKE]have some more tonight. Have another bottle in reserve if I need reinforcements.
DS is concerned about his old ma staying up late and hitting the bottle :rotfl:I was still up when he got home from the pub last night ......was engrossed in my audiobook and crochet.

He`s currently scraping artex off the kitchen ceiling and cursing his father for putting the bl***y stuff on in the first place:(
He`s taken Monday and Tuesday off work, thinking we would get the kitchen put to rights at long last - at this rate he`ll be lucky to get the ceiling done by then.

Off to put the kettle on and sympathise with him.

    Tata the noo.

Hello to one and all and some Spanish love tucked in. Hope everyone is enjoying seeing some sunshine and spring weather.

All well here. I am finishing if all the Eater bits and pieces for the charity shop. I am going to deliver it all this week as I want to clear the decks as Dd2 is coming down from Barcelona for the weekend next weekend !!!!!!! :)

Had roast tapas fro lunch and a glass of vino at lunch time and can not stop yawning this afternoon!!!!

jeani found walking around with an ice pack wrapped in a tea towel solved the problem. Cold comfort but worked.best not to do it in company though! Hedgies having their own column !!!

Ginnyhope you have had a good weekend.

pssoglad the liquid jollop helped. Definitely need to check it was that that helped. Kitchen ceiling sounds a real pain.

Kathyhope you are feeling less sore.

Lots of love to all you lovely folk

PSSO - I can do the knit in lace - am currently doing a christmas stocking with it for DWS - cos she supplied the eyelet stuff in BRIGHT RED AND GOLD and I want DH to take it along with all the other wee bits I missed finishing off for the Christmas!. I would do the christmas tree if I could just find the original bag with the bits in - see I obviously put it away safely.......... so will continue to hunt it out.
That TEA TOWEL - was obviously made just for me and yoo then!
THE GRAPES OF WRATH - have now departed no doubt back to John Steinbeck - thank goodness for that at least.
Am currently attacking some rather overgrown privet - which isn't even remotely like a hedge - getting to play in the sunshine sure helps my mood.
Loves and cuddles to you all. Back in a bit
OH and NO MORE MEDICINE of the Italian variety for yoo Elaine! You could always get wee J to do your counting up to 4 and I bet he can even do it in French!!!! - photie of lace stocking to follow probably tomorrow!
Oh and check out other lace projects on the link below- I am making a list of what colours I would like to buy next...WHAT ABOUT HEDGIES CHALKY??
You will ALL want to make them..........See Elaine for distructions ha ha

Good morning one and all and a little bit of Spanish love tucked in!

I went to the Cancer Charity shop this morning with the latest blanket and a collection of Chicks with a creme egg in their tummies . They were thrilled and have taken it all to s fund raising meeting. So all good there.
Think I will make some more chicks as they are so quick and easy. I don't want to start a bigger project until after our weekend visitors.

I have had the cookery books out and searching for treats for them.

Well we had a lovely Skype with Master William earlier. He loves it now if we read stories by Skype which is just wonderful. Mr Happy and Mr Bump today and Grandad was elected story teller today .

f1 I am so glad you have got that yarn issue sorted to your satisfaction. I hate it if I am not happy with a project. Thank you for kind wishes about Dd.

jean hedgehogs are always needed. So that would be wonderful if you feel like doing a little prickly clicking. X x x so glad John Steinbeck has possession of his grapes again. What a relief!!!

psso I hope those bugs have packed their bags.

    Kathy how are you?

pippa I hope your Spanish holiday was wonderful.

Well we are walking every afternoon so must get a wiggle on. Take care everyone x
Try and do a good deed every day.
