Hi everyone; I'm up early this morning so I'm leisurely surfing the net with a cuppa.

Chalky - good to hear from you. My fall was nowhere near as bad as your toe incident; I banged both knees and have a schoolboy-type graze on one of them, and I jarred my hip, but all is healing well. DH said I walked like Mrs Overall for a while!

Oh, Jean, you poor thing. Please slow down and take things a bit easier; it sounds like you may be run down (physically, not mentally - I could never imagine you anything but cheerful and positive!) so take a breather now and again. I'm sure the wine will have a calming effect.

Elaine - thinking of you and so pleased that you have a date more or less sorted out. I hope the headache has gone.

F1 - I know exactly what you mean. I wonder where the time goes; it really does just seem to disappear!

Ginnyknit - I hope you feel better today. I had to smile about DGS learning French. I have a wonderful children's book called 1000 words in French, and each double page is a picture of a room, shed, classroom, doctor's surgery, and so on, and everything is labelled with the words in French. I may not be a child but I consult it quite often. It's just as good for adults learning French as children.

I took a break from hooking lap blankets and made myself a big bag for holding my current WIP. I found some bright turquoise chunky wool in my stash, not enough for anything big but just enough to make the bag. It only took a couple of hours using a big hook, and I am really pleased with it. I hope to do a big photo-updating session soon, so I will post a photo of it. I shall go back to the lap blanket now, but I had a real urge to do the bag.

Well, the forecast for today and for the next week or so, is plenty of sun and warm temperatures; I see it looks set fair for the UK, too, so I hope you all have a beautiful day.

Dear lovely ladies, I need your valued opinion!

The baby blanket that Ive been asked to do isn't working out (story of my knitting life) - Im using some white chunky that was given to me and has been awaiting a good home - after knitting almost two 50g balls Im realising that Im not going to have enough !

    a) do I carry on a just make a very small blanket - I don't think its going to look right
    b) do I rip back and turn the dreaded neglected white chunky into some scarves!

I cant even say I will try and track some down as I think its so old that I would never be able to get any more.

This blanket was the one I was going to donate to the tombola so I really want it to look nice iykwim

Have I answered my own question??

    Over to you ladies ..................

  • YES - you got your own answer J....... you would not be happy with just a little blankie, so FROG it and use it for something else
Blankie can be done (as your previous lovely ones) if you have the yarn if not I could donate some stash - what colour would you really like?????
catching up later as I need a shower I have managed to wash down the outside and inside of the polytunnel and glanted up some strawberries - veg will follow later!! ha ha

Thank you for your lovely answer Roamin I knew I could wholeheartedly rely on one of you !
Thank you also for the offer of a donation but I swear I do have enough yarn in this house to open a shop just never enough for any of my mad ideas :D

As for the blankie the original one was done in Aran not chunky and I do have some lovely soft aran in a 400g ball so will have more than enough.

I was trying to follow Lyndy over on Linda's crafty corners' blog idea for march to use up yarn that you have neglected or don't want to use etc and the blanket was an idea to do something with these balls!

I really do need to pay more attention to "yardage" and not just "weight"

Well that's settled I have something to do tonight - yippeeee xxx

ps so much work in the poly tunnel should you be doing all that strenuous stuff - I DONT THINK SO tut tut xxx

I can see you have all been extremely busy while I was moaning about a few incidental health issues!
Love those blankets GINNYKNIT they are so gorgeous – not sure that PSSO will get around to it tho- I remember showing her how to do the basketweave crochet last MAY not seen any evidence of her progress tho’ – but I am ever hopeful.
THIRZAH – I am attempting to leave the chocolate in the cupboard for lent but I nearly always fail on that one! Have just made a start to some Innocent smoothy hats and hope that this year I can knock out a hundred.
CHALKY- we did all miss you as much as you missed us honestly, keep at those goodies for the cancer fund – very important to support that one- I know from experience!
MIOLIERE – I really hope that its only a couple of grazed knees – and an ache in your hip – it best be going shortly otherwise it will be a visit to the quack – and an enormous prescription for pills – I could send you some – it will get them out of my way.
Mrs Moneypenny, I did mean to congratulate you on your last finished cross stitch – I know just how long they Take care, and it always is a labour of love, I have a piece on the big stretcher at present it’s eventually for my Dear Wee Sister – but I love it so much I am hanging onto it for the time being – I also need to finish it off properly!! Perhaps this summer eh?
PSSO – you really have to dump the bugs and excuses my lovely and get into the hop-it-all and get it all sorted once and for all – then we can go and play – how does the camper to Nairn or Dornoch sound to you? I can do the cooking – or we could just have fish and chips every night!
PippaS – keep meaning to enquire how your lovely mum is doing? I know you are probably in the sunny south of Spain but let us know how you got on when you return
F1 – you lucky lady – a teenage birthday party – how I remember those! All sicky out limbs and voices that kept changing pitch – enjoy every minute of it – it passes so quickly
SHAZ – you know as well as I do that socks and slippers knitted or crochet COME IN ALL SIZES nothing too much bother – even the size 17’s. I am so pleased to read that you are having a wonderful time spending it with your family, spoil that little un just for me
OK I am certain I have missed out loads for that I apologize – I really need to let you all know
THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO MY WELLBEING
I would have said health but that is currently a sore pint - I really value your friendship and assistance
I also promise not to moan and nag about silly little health issues when I am well aware that there are millions out there in the big wide world a darn sight worse off than me.
If any one of you would like some slipper socks please just let me know I am on a mission–I think those lovely warm houses you all have with the wooden flooring – slipper socks clean as you do the skaters waltz – blue Danube music is optional JUST LET ME KNOW what size feet Dear Son said it’s the only way to clean!. Will also be starting on some snowpeeps – again let me know. I want to get ahead (perhaps I should get a hat!).
Cuddles to you all, positive vibes to everyone, energy levels going up daily here.
GRIEF I HAVE WRITTEN A BOOKS WORTH!

OH UPDATE - which I missed last week 0 ub a haze of tablets and sleep
