Hi everyone
I think my cold has gone but the cough hasn't, yet, and it's driving me mad, especially at night. Still, last night was slightly better than the one before, so hopefully it's on its way!
Yes, I remember making millions of Twinks but haven't made them lately. I will have a go at Chalky's recipe some time this week, though. Today, I made some bread pudding, and some jam tarts - I needed to make pastry for a chicken pie that I am making tomorrow and just doubled up on the amount). I've just 'tested' two jam tarts and a chunk of bread pudding and, yes, I think they are all suitable!
Chalky - hope your interview went well and that you have had no more internet problems.
Jean - all your makes are wonderful. Oh, by the way, Lidl's do lovely marshmallows - 99cents for a huge bag full. DH loves them so I always have them in stock. I quite like them but, after about eight in one go, they taste a bit sickly sweet!
Mrs Moneypenny - I am so glad you have finished your Titanic; you must feel a real sense of achievement.
Pippa - snow! What strange weather everywhere this year. We have actually had some sunshine yesterday and today, which has made a nice change.
F1 - how wonderful that you took a trip out. Well done to you! You must be feeling so proud of yourself.
Anakat - sorry I missed your birthday; I hope you had a lovely day.
Welcome to Kit1.
DH had the day off yesterday and was long overdue a haircut. A lovely English friend of ours here does it and I had a much-needed trim, too. We always have a lovely time with her and lots of cuppas; I always feel good when I've spent time with her, her family, and her mad dogs! She is very very good at hairdressing and has tried so hard to start her own business here, but she just has not been able to get it off the ground, mainly because the social charges are just too high. It turns out that the government wants €75 from her in social charges every single week, just to keep the business going, and she just could not make it pay. Being rural France the customer base just isn't here, but I wish she, and others like her, could have the first year free of charges just to get up and running. Oh, well, as I heard someone say the other day 'France is a place to retire to, not to start a business'! Rant over.
Anyway, I feel I have worked hard enough on all the chores to have a bit of a sit down with my wool and hook this afternoon so I shall make a cuppa and do just that.

Hi Everyone and thank you for the welcome.
Pippa I have only made 4 hats so far as I only really get time to do them in the evening and am not the fastest knitter - hope to make one every evening.
When I have got more done I will try and post a photo.Stash Busting Challenge 2016 6/520 -
Kit1 - you don't need to be fast honestly - 4 hats is 4 less cold heads, well done look forward to seeing your pics when you get them up. Isn't it a lovely way to spend an evening tho'?
I have had a bit of jippy tummy - DH made a lemon meringue pie which off course I just had to have a lump - said lump is causing me some distress today, so I shan't be helping myself to any more of that (bet its been done on purpose).
Have now blocked the wee blankie and am more than happy to have another shot at them tomorrow, when I get the braincell polished up - I did have a couple of "trials" with the machine so perhaps my time would be better spent cleaning and oiling it! We shall see.
Kathy - no good you telling me where to get BIG marshmallows - the recipe says mini's................. (putting off the day I make the cranberry tray bake)
PIPPA - yesterday I stood on the scales and had managed to shift the last of what I managed to put on at Christmas! Perhaps I need to go running again WHEN THE WEATHER IMPROVES.Oh and you could send me the snow I love it.The Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

Never mind the minis - just cut up some of the big ones !!:D
Scissors dipped in warm water saves `em sticking
My flapjacks recipe has syrup in it, as well as sultanas sometimes. Might have to turn on the oven.....it`s very cold here and had some snow this morning too....so the oven would heat up the kitchen a bit- no radiator there.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Hi everyone.
Jean, not finding small marshmallows in your part of France is no excuse. The big ones are really easy to cut up, as PSSO says!
I was going to make Chalky's IKEA nibbles today but found that DH has used my big blender to pulverise pumpkin seeds and, because they are dry, he has just put the blender away afterwards without cleaning it! I haven't used it for ages because I have a really great stick blender, so this behaviour has gone unnoticed for heaven knows how long. He will be told off when he gets home. Meanwhile, I have given it a good wash and will have to wait until it has dried thoroughly before I can make the oatmeal. It will be tomorrow's project now!
The sun is beaming away right now even though rain was forecast. I have put washing on the line but will keep an eye on the sky. I hope the weather is not causing too many problems for you all, but the forecast for parts of the UK is still dreadful. My heart goes out to all those people who have been flooded out, and the businesses, farms, and so on. It really is awful.
Well, the blanket I have been working on has just not been pleasing me - it's a horrid feeling making something that you don't like the look of, isn't it? I think it's because I got a bit cocky inventing stitches and, on some rows, there is 'pulling' (because I obviously lost or gained stitches) so it's just not flowing, if you see what I mean. Anyway, I have decided to be brave and just rip it all out and start again. It's in three shades of green, tangerine, and cream, and I am happy with the colours but not what I have been doing with them! I know I'll feel a lot happier when I have re-started it, and I won't get cocky this time.
Anyway, I have done the update, which you can find here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhOgVamMPLdkdDREdE9nS2pPYTRlcFQ3Ujc5ekNKamc&usp=drive_web#gid=0
Many thanks for your totals, and again thanks to Jean for such a great spreadsheet!
Have great days all of you, especially those who are unwell or anxious. Take a hug from me.

Hello to one and all.
Kathywhat a shame about the blankie. But you will be so much happier when you have got it right in your mind. What a shame about the mixer. Doh will hold his head in shame for a least 2 seconds I am sure.!
All well here. Insurance assessor is coming on Friday to talk broken pan tiles!!!
Busy hooking blanket squares. I have started some spring like daisy ones. Think they are going to make a very pretty Lappy.
Lots of love to one and all. Hope the relentless rain is not getting you down.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi from a poorly and very tired me.... I awoke yesterday morning with the right hand side of my face and tongue all swollen went immediately to the dentist who checked everything, xrays etc nope nothing untoward there...next stop was the doctors I was added as an emergency after morning surgery, thoroughly examined in there.
He believes I have allergic rhinitis (sp?) which affects ears, nose and throat - all at once was given prescription for cortisone and antihistamines which I started to sling down my throat straight away.... only to find that I can't stay awake for longer than about an hour and a half at a time, anyway, will soon be on the mend face is going down slowly and the meds are to continue for 2 months and this morning at 8am the Vampire Lady turned up to take 6 vails of blood for checking - will find out by Saturday what they hold. Doc wishes to see me again within a week so will see how I go. So if I am not around don't you all be wondering where I have gone - it will probably be bed.
Lots of love and tons of cuddles to you all

Oh, Jean, you poor thing. Thank goodness you were able to see the doctor quickly, and I hope you are soon feeling much better. At least here the blood results are very quick to come back, so you will not have to wait long to find out if the diagnosis is correct. Just make the most of the feeling tired bit and TAKE IT EASY! That's an order because I know what you are like!
