psso hope all going well with all your plans.

    karhyhas that cough gone?

A friend is arriving tomorrow with a stash of cacti plants that she has grown for us. We had an old thorny lemon tree in the front garden that was vicious and did not give us many lemons so it has come out and some plant bombing is going on. I can't wait. I did not used to like cacti but I love them now. That forgive any amount of neglectheat and sunshine

I am just finishing off a daisy Lappy for the cancer charity shop. It looks so Springlike. Photo to follow x x x

good morning ladies - well my face has gone down somewhat; although my sinus' hurts, runny nose, ear ache in one ear only and my throat is swollen - do we class that as me being fixed?? I have managed to keep awake all day yesterday but then dozed off in the chair by 8pm, so I won't be trying that one again.
Will pop back a bit later when I have caught up with some of the important little jobs I have been ignoring for a week - you know the ones - we hate them all! Will also read through the forum and see what you have all been up to.
Lots of love and huge cuddles to you all

    How Big Is One?
As a man walked a desolate beach one cold, gray morning he began to see another figure, far in the distance. Slowly the two approached each other, and he could make out a local native who kept leaning down, picking something up and throwing it out into the water. Time and again he hurled things into the ocean. As the distance between them continued to narrow, the man could see that the native was picking up starfish that had been washed upon the beach and, one at a time, was throwing them back into the water. Puzzled, the man approached the native and asked what he was doing. "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. You see, it's low tide right now and all of these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If I don't throw them back into the sea, they'll die up here from lack of oxygen." "But there must be thousands of starfish on this beach," the man replied. "You can't possibly get to all of them. There are just too many. And this same thing is probably happening on hundreds of beaches all up and down this coast. Can't you see that you can't possibly make a difference?" The local native smiled, bent down and picked up another starfish, and as he threw it back into the sea he replied, "Made a difference to that one!" Each of us is but one person: limited, burdened with our own cares and responsibilities. We may feel there is so much to be done, and we have so little to give. We're usually short of everything, especially time and money. When we leave this shore, there will still be millions of starfish stranded on the beach. Maybe we can't change the whole world, but there isn't one of us who can't help change one person's whole world. One at a time. We can make a difference.

I loved that jean thank you for sharing.

I do hope the weather is improving if not keep making biscuits!!!

We took an old lemon tree out of our front garden here and we are busy turning it into a cactus garden. So much less work with pruning etc. And they need so little looking after.

I started another mitred square blanket last night . My Lappy love has gone crazy!!
Also still knitting little hats for the hospital.
Nice to have two things on the go!

Lots of love to each and every one of you and your families

    Hi everyone

Jean, I am so glad that you are starting to feel better. I also fully agree with 'How Big is One?'. I have often said that if everyone helped just one person, then eventually every person in the world would be helped. If you could help a different person every day, then after a year, you would have helped over three hundred and fifty people. The help doesn't even have to be big; sometimes, just a smile or a hug is help enough.

Anyway, I am maudlin, so I will change the subject.

Chalky - I have gone Lappy mad, and have just finished one in autumn colours, and have just started another one in pastel shades. I will have to have another go with Image Shack this week, so that I can post photos. I used to be able to use it, but then they changed how it worked, so I sort of lost the plot. I cannot compete with you in speed because life here just keeps taking over. Today, I have been helping DH sort out yet another leak in the roof, having helped him sort out one in the holiday home that we look after; I will soon be an expert 'Kev', I think, but do not want to take up roof repairs as a job! The catcus garden sounds lovely. Friends of ours here have a spectacular catcus in their garden, the sort that looks as if it should be in a Western. It just grows and grows, so be warned! My cough has now gone, thanks for asking. It nearly drove me mad because it was a violent tickle in the throat, and not really anything on my chest. Something French, no doubt!

Moments of sanity - welcome to you.

I had a go at Chalky's Swedish biscuits and they have been a huge hit, so I shall be making them regularly. I got about sixty out of the recipe, which I thought was pretty good and great value for money, too. I didn't do the chocolate bit but they were delicious even without it.

Ginnyknit - I hope you are out of the doldrums, and that OH is doing as well as possible.

F1 - good luck to your DH with giving up smoking. Mine has with one of those electronic cigarettes.

Mrs Moneypenny - great tip about the ends. Sewing in is such a boring job, isn't it? With my last two blankets, I have stopped and made myself sew the ends in when there have been about four to do. It has certainly made finishing it easier.

Pippa - I find I do as much baking now as I did when the children were still living at home. It lasts slightly longer these days!

Thirzah - that bag of wool sounds fascinating. I hope you manage to find out what all the different ones are.

Well, I hope the weather has been improving for everyone. It's been cool but sunny here for the last three days, so I've made the most of the washing line.

I will do the update tomorrow morning, hopefully.

    Have a great evening, everyone.

Hi Chalky - Yes, it's just as tasty uncooked, isn't it? I didn't roll it out as pastry, just 'balled' it in my hands like you do when you are making suet dumplings, put the balls on the baking sheet, then pressed them down to flatten them out a little. They are lovely; DH really likes them, so I shall be making them often. The recipe is a great find, so thanks for sharing it!
