  • Afternoon All, I have posted on the Knitters thread as well but thought I may also get an answer here......

I can't knit or crochet to save my life (various people have attempted to teach me and can't even 'get it' from youtube) so wondered if anyone here uses a knitting loom? I would love to be able to Knit blankets, hats, socks etc and thought this may be the answer.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello lovely friends

moments of sanity - all I can say is I tried unsuccessfully to knit many many years ago and then all of a sudden it just came to me, just by knitting squares I too looked on you-tube after that and taught myself other stitches etc plus I found these wonderful ladies and the rest is history! as for loom knitting I do have the round looms (various sizes) and have so far only knitted hats on it - its great but my hands are not great so doing a lot of it was a bit painful easier for me to knit actually not tried anything complicated on the loom - my son a couple of years ago made some loom hats (he was about 10/11 then) I say give it a go and hats and scarves are always wanted by so many charities if that was what you were thinking of doing them for xxx

psso - sorry to hear your tummbly drier parted company with you! that's an expense Im sure you could do without.
Yes I will join you for tea and biscuits after Ive been in the tub!
Any ginger nuts ?? or cream ones? xxxx

Kathy - im sorry I missed the comment about your blanket yes green tangerine and cream sound a really lovely combination cant wait to see it xx

roamin - how are you feeling today? better I hope sending a great big hug your way and hope you have taken it easy today xxx

Well im still in knitting distress I really don't know whats up with me - everything I start knitting I hate - if anyone sees my mojo as it seems to have gone a wandering send it back please (that is unless its helping one of you lovely ladies first!)
Well tub has run so am off to soak - headache has been lurking all day - had it all week bloomin hormones :D - will try and get some inspiration in the bath

Big hugs all round xxx wish the wind would die down maybe the magic carpet from spain could get here ;)

Hello to one and all. Hope that the weather is easing. It looks so bad on the Tv. That poor lady driving the taxi when that roof collapsed.

We have just had a treat and been taken out to lunch. It's crazy really as we are always trying to say thank you to our 83 year old neighbour as she lets us use her long clothes line. Our terraces are great but the washing has to go on a foldable rack which does not give it a good blow.
So, I call it line rental, but, whenever I am cooking I do a dish of whatever for her to say thank you. But today she wanted to say thank you to us. Can you follow this .... Well anyway we went to a Spanish restaurant and I had a hot bread roll and alioli as a welcome.Melon and cured ham to start. Liver and bacon with veg and roast potatoes as a main. It was scrummy and then Vienetta for a puffing. There were lots of other choices too. And the cost was 10 Euros. All beautifully served as well. What a treat .

We shall definitely be going back there.

The assessor came and looked and aid a few words in Spanish and disappeared so hopefully all is Ok. We shall see. I just hope there is no more strong winds before it's fixed of some more tiles will be coming down like confetti.

We went to a local market yesterday and they were selling 6 kilos of oranges for 2 Euros. How I wish we were all closer and then we could share out the bag. Think of all that juice and marmalade!

Well I am busy knitting oremmie clothes still. They were very well received at the local hospital last time.

pssodecuttering the biscuit tin sounds like a brilliant idea. I m so glad your Dd is getting on so well with the driving.
f1 you so deserve some treats after such a stressful few weeks. I hope you get to go out again soon.
    Kathyhow is that cough?
jeanhow are you? So much better I hope.
knit1 never mind the number of hats just think of each little head being comforted.
thirzahoh! A bag of goodies. How wonderful.
pippasorry to hear Mum is not so well. Bless her. There is no fun in getting older.
moments of sanityi am sorry. I seem to have missed welcoming you.
shazhow are the boys these days? And your mum too?

Lots of the gentlest thoughts to all MIA's
Try and do a good deed every day.

Well, I am exercising today - no not that kind of shenanigans. Exercising my imagination - I have just had a lovely Devon cream tea with Chalky. Nice fruity scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam......two of them. Greedy pig that i am.

Still doing the grannies but have worked out which ones will go where and am sewing them together as I do them, saves all the sewing up at the end. Brain is racing ahead to the next project but hands can`t keep up unfortunately.

Moments of sanity - sorry can`t help with loom query, never tried it myself. Have you tried sitting opposite someone who knits, mirror image sort of thing, following their movements ? I know some lefties have learned that way.

F1 - have just been on your blog and now I want to do a blanket like yours ! It`s beautiful.
Hope your mojo comes back soon, maybe you could use up your bits and pieces of wool doing a scrappy scarf. I found that doing one or two rows now and again brought mine sneaking back. Not doing anything in particular seemed to help when I couldn`t concentrate on a specific item.
Note to self.....stop looking at patterns and blog hopping and get on with the wip`s you have first!
Always ginger nuts and custard creams in the cupboard unless some little person has nabbed the cc`s first.

Off to stick my head in the fridge/freezer to see what I can cobble up for tea.

Very cold and wet here will it ever stop raining, roll on next week we are off to Spain :j

I don't do much baking now there are just us 2 mainly because we eat too much when I do but I've just made a very quick apple crumble ...only a small one...OH bought some eating apples yesterday they were so green I thought they were cookers, one look and I thought sour and yes they were, only one thing to do with sour's... chop them up and cook them with a handful of sultanas thrown in, mix some crumble for the top then bung it in the oven mmmm lovely :)

chalky - your meal sounds scrumptious, love the tumbling blocks blanket, how do you do the squares?
jean - hope you are feeling better now,
psso - chalky's scones are beyond words sooo moorish, the first time we met it was at her house for cream tea
THIRZAH - Have you got to the bottom of the bag of woolly heaven yet?;)
moments-of-sanity - I've used a loom for hats mainly, its quick and no sewing up except for the top and that takes seconds
f1 - awww how thoughtful...know what I got ???a box of grapes and a packet of teacakes!!!and that was because the woman in the paper shop told him it was V day...who said romance is dead :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:O he makes me laugh sometimes ;)

I have made some more squares for the blanket up to 160 now, just got to put the last 2 rows together then sort something out for the edging...

Keep warm and dry everyone hugs to all Ax

I've emptied the bag of wool and tried to sort it into types-aran, DK etc. There's some rather strange stuff by Ice yarns which I can't find on Ravelry. It's fluffy and the label says knits as fine-I might have to do more research.
There's enough of some yarns to do scarves for shoeboxes which is good. I did do one Dr Who type of striped scarf but hated sewing all the ends in. I shall start with scarves then use the leftovers and smaller balls for hats, mitts and purses.

dont sew the ends in then, knot them and let them be the fringe;)

i made these using a different colour for each row and leaving a tail of about 8-10 inches each end of the row then when i had about 5 or 6 tails i tied them in a knot close to the knitted edge.
it was a suggestion on loving hands last year

Hello all, have been reading along but not posting much as I have been in the doldrums. Everyone sounds busy on here. I have been crochetting myself silly and tried a couple of throws on fleabay but no luck  So the pile grows in the spare room. Done some tiny sets of hats boots and blankets for premmie memory bags for Bonnie babies.

Other than that things much the same. hubby had a couple of falls so is nursing his bruises. He shouted me in the middle of the night and I went in his room and couldnt see him, I was half asleep, so thought he must be down stairs. then I heard a groan and realise dhe was on the floor next to the bed - boy did he take the mickey out of me for a few days :D

Hoping to book another break in Lincolnshire for our 35th wedding anniversary - 35 years  do I get a medal? But want to book on the last minute just in case. Dd is taking Dgs to his Grandads in France again in April too, he absolutely loves it there. Last time he came back talking, goodness knows what he will achieve this time. He is so funny, he has always had an irrepresable sense of humour way beyond his years. On Sunday when we were taking him home OH opened the back door of the car for him to get in and he wandered round the car and climbed in the other side, laughing his socks off at us.

hugs to all my dear friends xxxx
