  • Love that wee dolly Anakat.........don't think I have the patience to even attempt something that little.
Trying to clear the polytunnel this week so that we can scoot off in the pampervan next week, but by the time it gets to 10.30 am its far to hot and sunny to actually want to be in there!
Still churning out hats - my SIL has said I need to put a limit on the size of box (or weight of box) and then move onto something else - they really have become a proper addiction.
Love and cuddles to you all

Anakat, that is a sweet little doll, you must have much better eye sight than me :D I have started the Little cotton rabbit and now have a head in the softest grey alpaca.Im tempted to do the dress next as its so pretty and the yarn is sat waiting patiently.

F1 love the NAGGS idea, sounds like a very productive set-up and will be well recieved. I took a load of hats scarves and mitts to a charity locally last year and they were really pleased.

Moliere, well done on getting the work done despite the poorlyness.

Roamin sounds like summer hasnt left you yet. Its been warm but muggy here today but is a little chilly now. Really must go and put my woolly socks on.

  • Hello everyone,

mrs-moneypenny has pointed me in this direction to ask for some advice on knitting machines. I'll copy the post I made on the Knitters thread for ease.

Just wondering if anyone can give me some info on machine knitting and any limitations.
I currently knit dog sweaters to raise money for an animal charity, but I'm not able to produce the quantities I need. I'm considering buying a 2nd hand knitting machine to increase productivity, but don't know if it will do what I need it to. The basic sweaters are similar to a raglan sleeve, but have a garter stitch border. Would it be possible to make something like this with a knitting machine and if so, what features should I be looking for?
    TIA,

    M x
  • mtbbuxton - welcome - I have three machines - all very basic non electric but complete with main bed and ribbers, lace carriages etc......... the short answer is YES you can do them on a machine - the learning curve is what may just hold you up to start with. can you post a picture of what you currently make? or the pattern you use - I can then have a look see and decide how easy and quickly it can be done. I am currently doing hats, hats and more hats - I tend to get stuck on something for a wee while and stay there!
Morning folks, have the hairdresser arriving this morning so need to be sorted - but will be back later........cuddles and love to you all

    morning all
welcome mtbbuxton, i just knew that there would be someone on here who is familiar with knitting machines who would be happy to share advice and tips. thanks jean.

had the sewing machine out again most of yesterday, and this morning was up early knitting more flowers in bed with my early cuppa

well done on getting through your workload with a headache Kathy, never an easy thing to do. i hope you are feeling fully recovered very soon. i also hope your mum has a lovely birthday.

    hope everyone is well.
had the first meeting about the heads challenge last night and they ok'ed me to also sell my flower brooches on my stall (the money from those will go to the lily Beau blue foundation, Lilys mum want to set up a fund in the hope of making a memorial garden to children and little ones who were taken too soon ) i just need to get a leaflet or poster about it so everyone knows what it is. i have my t shirt that was printed for the walk and vigil so ill wear that.
been making sewn clutch bags, they are quicker than the knitted ones, but have come to a stop as ive run out of interfacing.
still plenty more to keep me busy.

hope everyone has something in their day to make them smile.

Thanks, Mrs Moneypenny; I am feeling a bit better today, but the headache is starting to get on my nerves. I'm glad you got the OK for selling the brooches; the memorial garden idea is wonderful and will bring much comfort to those who need it.

    F1 -love the NAGGs idea!
Ginnyknit - hope you and OH are feeling as well as can be.

Shaz - how is that lovely grandson doing?

Mtbbuxton - welcome to you. You have found our resident knitting machine expert in Roamin in the Gloaming. When you have time, look back through her posts and you will see the wonderful things she has made. She has brilliant inventive ideas and works really hard to get them just right.

Jean - hope the hairdresser makes you feel like a princess!

  • Mrs Moneypenny - would you like some snowpeeps for any or all of your
charity things? Happy to knock them out - even have time to stitch them up and probably stuff them too then get the Sister in Law to post them to you in the UK??? Or any sewing - I can get into the sweatshop these days.
