Dawn - lots of really gentle (((hugs))) to you. I lost my dad many years ago and I can promise you that it will, over time, get easier to bear. One day you will be able to think about your mum without it feeling so raw and painful. You will never ever forget her - I think about my dad every single day - but time will help to numb the pain you are feeling today.

    Take care

    hugs to all,

especially ISOM and your mum, and Dawn - you can have as many one-armed hugs as you like, i still miss my beloved nan who brought me up half my life and had sudden stroke nearly 10 years ago; i miss her everyday. when someone leaves you so suddenly i think it leaves a grief that takes a very long time to heal.

my mission today - to try to wash my hair... think i will have to enlist some herlp, but i draw the line at someone else having to bath me (grrrr, too independant!) wish me luck, lol.

    Morning all

Off to the dentist in a bit so this is a quick post !!!

chalky - its been bucketing down here as well and its gone COLD...oooo I hate the cold. Hope you are ok, I know it will be a wrench when she goes and you are going to miss her so much, but she will be back and just think of all the adventures she will have, and the joy of having her home again xx
kathy - thanks for the e'mail, I have'nt received anything else from you so that's ok but I will keep an eye open just in case
MrsTwins - yes I saw my blue square with the white flower in the middle, but not the other 2, I must have missed them. The blankets are all lovely a real worldwide project :D
f1 - sounds like you are going to be busy dashing around the country visiting us all....hmmm better get my finger out and start baking:rotfl:
shaz - hope things are ok with you now :)

Dawn - special comforting ((((hugs)))) for you,I know how you feel when my sister died I thought I would never stop crying and hurting, the tears have dried up somewhat, but now and then some little thing will take me unawares and bring back times past when we were young and I will remember just how close we were, and O those days are hard. The hurting and missing her will never stop I think.xxx

I managed to finish DGD's ripple blanket last night just got the edging to do now.

I have read through some of the thread but not all time is short at the moment with MIL in hospital again, she is really deteriorating now, I just hope and pray she will pull round again.

I will pop in when I can.
Take care everyone and (((hugs))) for all in need

PurleTeddybear take as many hugs as you need. Lots of people on here understand exactly how you're feeling and can sympathise. My lovely Mum died five years ago and I still cry like a baby some days. Little things like a scent or a phrase or even a tv repeat can start it off. Time does make it easier to live with though, and some of the lighter or funny memories can often help. Thinking of you, cyber hugs, xxx

    Hi folks,

Haven`t been around much lately. DS went in to hospital on Tuesday morning so spent all day hanging around there, almost finished a preemie sized Sands type blanket while waiting. Had to get all his tests, x rays etc before his operation. Had the op yesterday afternoon so was in intensive care last night. I was allowed in to see him for a wee while late last night, and he was able to keep his eyes open long enough and communicate by hand squeezing and blinking so the nurses decided he was ready to have the ventilator tube removed from his throat.

Phoned this morning and was told he`s doing OK and will be moved to the High Dependency Unit later this morning _pale_ That`s the ward I made the complaint about after Jim died as the staff didn`t seem to pay much attention to the patients. :( The sooner he`s out of there the better as far as I`m concerned, unless things have changed in the past year.

Had his boss on the phone not long ago asking how he was doing and when he can have visitors - apparently quite a few folk have been asking, he`s a popular chap obviously and a hit with the girlies - so poor old mum here maybe won`t get a look in !! ;)

Off for a cuppa before tackling the bombsite which is his bedroom - think he`ll need easier access to his bed when he comes home. Right now the wardrobe and cupboard are redundant, his clothes are in piles on the floor, clean, dirty all mixed up, boots and trainers everywhere- not a tidy lad - so I think I`ll be having a blitzing session while he`s away.

Will have to read back later to see what I`ve missed the past few days.

    See you soon.

psso glad to hear things have gone well for your son, the sooner he's home and in your care the better. But will he recognise his room?

Elaine - I'm so pleased that your DS is over the worst. You must have been so anxious while the op was going on - I know, I had to go through it with my DS2 (four times in two years!) but his condition wasn't as serious as your DS's. He sounds like a lovely chap, though, with a fan club like that! I wish him all the best and I'm sure you will all be relieved once he's back at home.

Kinsey - you are so right about things triggering off memories. After all this time without my dear dad, I can at least talk about him with fewer tears and more laughter as we remember just what a character he was, and how very lucky we were to have had him, even for so short a time.

Special (((hugs))) to all those who are feeling sad.
