Well nearly bedtime for me. Thank you so much for that beautiful poem ISOM and kind words Kathy and Kinsey
Feel much less emotional today but that maybe because poor girl has been really poorly with a tummy upset since last night. So lots of Mother Hen going on! A duvet afternoon for her so I quite happily sat with my hooking and kept her company. Just quiet but nice!

Doh still busy painting but the house is beginning to look so much better. DD1 coming to help him tomorrow which is great. DS and Dil have just texted that they have arrived safely back from a holiday in Egypt. Only a short text but over 40 deg every day and lots of stomach issues!! So lets hope that didn't spoil their holiday. He was in need of a stress free time !!!

Well I have been a bit adrift with crafting but have 8 squares to send off to Mrs Twins -- have mislaid her address so would be very grateful if someone could Pm it to me please.
Also our great aunt ( who broke her neck!!! ) is coming down for DMIL's 80th and she collects for Operation Christmas Child so I have been crocheting purses for her.

I really must start on the cowls which I think are going to be a big part of my Christmas this year --- Lots of patterns on Mays links-- Thanks May[/B

Well I am off to bed but thank you all for your friendship. Love to one and all]

    Hi all.

Chalky - have pm'd you with Mrs Twins' address. Hope DD is feeling better today.

ISOM - I'm glad work is going well and that they are giving you enough to do!

Well, it rained for most of yesterday and, it seems, all night as well. They have forecast sun today so I hope they've got it right because I still have all the bedlinen from the holiday home to dry! I had to give in and reluctantly use the tumble drier yesterday to get the towels dry. It's the first time I've had to use it for months and I was not a happy bunny!

Well, I sat down last night, managed three groups of trebles on the cat blanket I am making, and promptly fell asleep. At this rate, it will take months to finish! As usual, we didn't sit down until quite late. DH finished plastering at about 6pm, then we had dinner and, by the time we'd cleared that up, packed away all the plastering stuff, and had a shower, it was 10pm, so a very long day. I shall be so glad when the house is finished!

Anyway, at least I can look forward to our trip back to the UK! It will do us both good to get away, anyway, but seeing everyone back home will be the icing on the cake!

Still no sign of Louis the cat so I'm resigning myself to the fact that he may well have gone for good - I just hope nothing bad has happened to him. I really miss having him around. The neighbours' cat comes in a lot, though; he spent yesterday's rainy afternoon snoozing on the sofa in the conservatory!

Well, I'm torn between having another cuppa or going back to bed for an hour - actually, I shall take a cuppa back to bed with me!

Just a quick pop in to share the good news....I am an Auntie again!

My little niece was born yesterday (11.31 pm Perth time; 4.31 pm our time) weighing in at 7lbs 13oz (and my brother says she is tiny....hmm, my DD was 5lbs 2oz - that's tiny!!) and was bang on her due date. SIL was in labour for - ooh, 2 hours!! So, welcome to the world little Kaydee Caroline (Caroline after my mum, she was a Carol Ann but Carol didn't really fit as a middle name, so they found something gorgeously similar).

So that's another niece in a faraway place (I now have 2 nieces in Aus, and one of each in USA!)

    Pop back laters,

    Dawn x

    morning all
i thought id better pop in and say hello, back from our holiday (it was booked so and paid for so we thought we may as well go) weather was kind and the break was needed we didnt like leaving Mil on her own but she insisted dad would have wanted us to go and she had things she wanted to do. we rang her everyday snd shes putting on a brave face pretending everything alright.
DH is finding it hard but eventually we will come to terms with Dad not being here anymore as much as it is so hard. silly things set me off crying and weird things like smelling pipe smoke while doing some DIY last week (both of us smelt it) it was like dad was there watching to make sure we got it right
chalky thank you so much for the very kid pm asking if dear Mil would benifit from a blanket, its a very kind thought but will say no thank you as there are so many charities and causes out there that need your lovely work and i wouldnt want to take time from them. but i really do aprechiate the very kind and generous offer.

I went to the table top sale last weekend for the choir but it was outdoors and rainy so we got there late (waiting for the weather to subside) anyway i only just about covered the gate admission money, so i will save the items people kindly sent and use them in a future occasion.

i hope all are well and i send hugs for all

congrats to PTB on the safe arrival of your lovely new niece

kathy i do hope puss cat turns up safe

PTB - what fantastic news! Congratulations to the happy parents - I do hope you get to meet them in person one day!

Mrs Moneypenny - welcome back. I'm glad you decided to go on holiday; it will have done you good to get away. Although your MIL will be glad you're back, she will also be glad that you've had a break. (((Hugs))) to you and your DH - it'll be difficult for a while, I know. My dad has been gone almost 41 years now and, now and again, I can smell the shaving cream he used to use, and I feel as if he is there watching me. Smells, like music, can be really powerful.

Chalky - glad DD is better. Tell DOH to be careful up that ladder!

Well, time for lunch, I suppose. Give DH a break from sanding down beams!

    Afternoon all!
Dentist yesterday - big relief was that nothing too serious after all so worries about having to have the implant redone proved unfounded.
Have mixed up squares already counted with new ones and can't access totals spreadsheet on your blog to sort it out, MIOLIERE. Any tips? Did enjoy looking at your photos while I was there though and reading about your latest exploits.
Glad work is keeping you busy, ISOM, hope it's not too tiring. If you are working tomorrow and yor Mum needs someone to accompany her to hospital tomorrow, give me a text.
Fantastic patterns MAYTAURUS - I love cowls and snoods for winter! (Actually, hair too short for snoods, but cowls are good)
Forgot to say, CHALKY 75, when in Bath went to the River Cottage Canteen for their 4 for 2 night and had lovely seasonal local food beautifully and interestingly cooked. I'll definitely be looking out to see if the Riverford Yurt is coming my way!
SOCK KNITTER, hope that life is going calmly and well for you!
Welcome back MRS MONEYPENNY. I'm sure taking the holiday was a good break and also a first step on the road to incorporating recent sorrows into everyday existance.
    Congratulations PURPLE TEDDYBEAR!

    Love and hugs to all

By the way - you've probably all noticed that Jean has been quiet lately (not like her, is it?!). Well, I was a bit worried that she may still be suffering with the shingles, so I emailed her last night and she got back to me this morning to say that she has just been incredibly busy, looking after her goddaughter's three boys, and helping her neighbour with gites! She will try and pop in later in the week, but I told her only to do so if she has the time. Typical of Jean - she is doing too much but she says she's loving every minute of it!
