  • bum - missed the update......will try and remember next weekend OK I am looking for a pattern and I just know someone out there will be able to assist me - prior to the summer arriving I am looking for the crochet thing you fling over the top of the water jug - jam pot to stop the flies getting in to it???? Sure I have seen some somewhere blowed if I know where tho'
xBack tomorrow - I have an injury.... my right index finger has got all swollen up - started Saturday night after a spot of gardening - have checked my paperwork and the tetanus jag is in date (phew saved me that one) so I have investigated it for bites or scratches - NONE am keeping it very clean but its a pure nuisance to try and type (I use all 10 fingers to type!) Contacted DS today at his work so am happy to leave him in peace! 15 sleepies till my holiday - I had better get my finger out and sort everything here! Lots of love to you all

Jean - I can add your totals, if you want to post them; after all, you've made it so easy with your brilliant spreadsheet!

Keep a keen eye on that finger; DH has been to hospital here three times with an infected one. It's a good job your tetanus is up to date but you may need antibiotics, too, especially if it's swollen up. Please don't take a chance with it.

Here's a link to a Pinterest page with jug cover patterns; hope it's what you are looking for.

There's a few links here, too

Have you got an old doily lying around Jean ?
Just stitch some beads or buttons on around the edge to weigh it down. Bob`s yer uncle.
Hope your finger gets better soon. I`ve been bothered by my thumb lately, just the joint at the base of the palm/wrist been niggly. Old age I`m reliably told by the young `uns, and I must admit both my index fingers are showing signs of ARTHUR moving in.

Been out in the garden as well today for a while.Bit too windy for me to stay out too long though, as it gets the angina going.

Had to come inside and do some finishing off - sewing up, stitching on buttons, sewing seams etc. all that fiddly stuff.

DS has finally been tidying up in the greenhouse. He`s been using it as his workshop/playroom, tying fishing flies, practicing his darts .

I told him it`s MY quiet place away from Cbeebies tv, where I can sit in the sun when it`s too windy, like today, and do the woolly stuff in peace. Well, he`s made a start anyway, when he`ll be finished is another question.

Bit like his dad, tends to start something then gets sidetracked by something more interesting, so we end up with half finished jobs everywhere..........

Right, I`m off to bed as have to work tomorrow.

    Take care all.

  • oooo - I knew you would all come up with some real beauties so am off for a swift lookie see and try to make my mind up which to do - love the idea Elaine but can't for the life of me find where the doilies are hiding......bet its in a box in a loft or god forbid oot in that barn!!! Finger is still a bit big - DH says its because I crochet and knit RUBBISH.....its more likely because I bashed it. Got a bit of sewing on today, so had better get the coffee finished and get stuck in. Lots of love to you all I have Arthur in my wee pinkie (left hand) supposedly it jist looks like a big bump on the knuckle will clout it wi the hammer next time I am passing - that will certainly sort that problem oot!

Elaine - that is how I found out I had tendonitis, with pains in the base of my palms and wrists. The doctor diagnosed it and said to rest my hands (as if that was going to be easy!), but I find it's best if I keep using them. I can't knit so well without pain these days, but I can still crochet without them hurting. If they get really painful, which happens now and again, I take anti-inflammatories and painkillers. I was told that there was nothing that can be done, and that basically it really is down to age and wear and tear. You can google 'exercises for tendonitis' to find things you can do that will help ease the pain. Having said all that, it's still worth a trip to the doctor because the symptoms are similar to carpel tunnel syndrome, and they can operate to cure that. Good luck whatever is causing it.

Jean - hope the finger starts to feel better soon.

It's a beautiful day here - hope it is the same for everyone.
