hugs to you F1. i agree dont look up medical stuff on internet it will scare you witless.
my mum quite happily told me that her thyriod problem was hriditary and would probably kick in when im 40 (thanks mum) anyhow i looked stuff up was scared sensless and decided i was dying! all without seeing a dr!!
i did tell dr of mums probs and my worries so i do occasionally get blodds tested and so far my results are within normal. ive now passed the 50 mark and joke with mum i must be a late eveloper.
mum has been on meds for years now but looks and copes fantastically, you wouldnt know shes 70 as shes so healthy looking and active. funny thing is hers is underactive so 'by rights' she should be overweight but shes slimmer than me and never has to watch her weight.
please use this forum to vent your concerns and let us support you but as has been suggested, keep calm monitor your symptoms and worries and make an appiontment to see your GP again if you need to.

up early this morning so ive done a couple of rounds of crochet in bed

    hope all are well
weather not looking too bad. and its FRIDAY!!!!!!!

a friend of my DS has had to have knee replacement in early 40s for similar reasons she was worried but after physio has said its the best thing shes ever done her walking and reduction in pain are massively improved

oh ladies thanks for your support - I think I might have you confused ....
It was the Doctors who phoned me to say my bloods had come back with a problem and that I needed to speak to a Doctor!
She then actually said i will give you your results if you want to go away and have a look at anything before you speak to the Doctor
So I didnt just go off and look up my symptoms - she actually told me roughly what the problem was
I then went and spoke to Thyroid Uk and they were the ones that were very alarmed as well and said dont worry with those tests your Doctor will do this this and this and explained it to me
Now Ive spoken to Doctor he says everything ok :eek: thats why Im a bit upset
oh dear you probably think Im completely La la now - not me worrying - they made me worried in the first place!
Im crawling back into my corner - but I will be back out soon
hugs and love to all xx

F1 we dont think you are laa laa at all
thank you for reexplaining, i can see why you got upset now as i would have been confused if told what youve been told, how about ringing thyriod UK again listening to what they have to say then making another appt to see gp and ask why you were told that your results were off and would need treatment. maybe a well meaning receptionist got her wires crossed and said more than she was supposed to. on occasions ive had results back that needed following up all that has been said when theyve rung me is. Your results are back please can you make an appt to see the gp to discuss them. a receptionist isnt qualified to diagnose or interpret results.

Shaz, I do hope you can get the 'episodes' sorted out, if you get a new knee tho' perhaps you should 'run it in' (that's a joke folks) or a very bad pun!! groan

Hi all just a quick pop in Im really upset but my Dr doesnt think my deficiencies need treating at the moment .......
I know I shouldnt have done but I consulted Thyroid Uk and the information and advice I was given was that at my levels I needed treatment NOW
Im feeling a bit sorry for myself so am sorry Im not up to much

Im off to have a look at todays posts and see what you all have been up to

    Massive hugs xxx

NHS varies wildly between what is unusual and what is unsafe; I've had low everything for ages but GP could only get me on a list to see a gastro consultant if my iron level dropped really low so I had to wait to get it up enough to give blood (often too low to give blood but not low enough for GP action) then have blood test at GP when it measured super low, then be on iron tabs for two months without iron levels noticeably rising, then GP could ask for consultant appointment. Mind you, GP wrote in Aug/Sept, had a letter saying I was on the short waiting list in Dec and heard nothing since.
The standard test to see if you are absorbing nutrients correctly, the only one the GP can order, simply tests to see if you have Coeliac's disease
All completely maddening but partly result of NHS cuts. Also can be partly down to the GP wanting to keep costs down since the system changed and they had to form business groups and get charged for everything that they prescribe or order; friend of mine at another surgery never gets sent for tests for anything by her GP even if her consultant says that she needs them, and apparently this is the same for other patients she has spoken to.

Don't be afraid to get pushy with your GP - you aren't well, it's affecting your ability to function normally etc etc The way the NHS is now, if you don't ask forcefully then you just don't get the majority of the time. That's why you don't tend to see people with visitors with them on parked on trollies in hospital corridors, only people on their own with no one with them to raise a rumpus. You can always take someone with you into any appointment if you think that would help.

I will have a look, Chalky, I have a pattern somewhere for knickers and will scan it and send it you if I find it.

Been to Hobbyc today as we were near -as if I need an excuse :D got some more 3 for 2 dk but they have limited colours and you have to make sure they are all the same brand - guess how I know :o also got a few skeins of embroidery thread I was short of so all set for my holidays now. I suppose I need clothes and stuff too but I will wing it where thats concerned :rotfl: Hubby is quite excited till he realised he has to fit everything in the car so we will just take the back seats out to solve the problem. Dgs has his little suitcase packed full of nappies so he is sorted too. Have been out looking for a mini sweeping brush for him for his birthday but no luck so far will have a look while Im away as my weekend is all booked up now.

    hugs to all xx
