You are all welcome to come for lunch but a magic bus will definately be needed as we are all so far apart physically. I will find a burger king or some such eatery that has WiFi if necessary. OH is so excited, I was on the phone telling Mum we were going and he said 'Next week!! I thought we were going in May' He is now like a kid in a sweetshopClearing the junk to travel light

Its lovely today makes you feel good doesn't it a bit of sunshine:cool:
Can't remember if I said but Mom suddenly went blind in her one eye a few weeks ago, the sight came back later but it really scared her, she's ok now though still shaky but at 91 it's to be expected, she's still cheerful though and has a wicked sense of humour
We have taken her to so many hospitals and clinics since to try and find out what caused it but no answer yet. Today she has to go for a C.A.T scan first then she will see the Doctor hopefully we will have more information from that.
OH is busy putting a wheelchair together, it's a lightweight travel one so should be a piece of cake... yeah right !!! :rotfl:
mrs-m - It's good to talk about Lily it was such a very sad time, but it's lovely that Beau and Lola will grow up knowing about her,
ginny - Thats great news if anyone needs a holiday you and your OH do, it will do you both the world of good to go and chill out for a while...especially with a trailer full of craft type stuff
f1 - ah it's good to hear you sounding more relaxed now, yes some lovely posts here lately
Off to the caravan later next week, we are looking forward to it sooo much. Will get the Springtime Throw boxes out later and just check all is as it should be. I started it last year and just work on it in Devon, it's tiny squares so I can pick it up and put it down anytime and not have a pattern to bother about...keeps me quietAt last count 255 sqs done and 177 to do
Love to all Ax0 -
First of all, best wishes to everyone who needs them!
Haven't posted here for a while - just been lurking while very busy - so apologies for that.
We had an unusual day out yesterday; were looking everywhere for white metal door handles for our new shower rooms - although we knew they were available in France, just couldn't find them in UK. Then an email arrived - special offer Channel ferry crossing - and we thought, why not go to France for the handles? The deal was not to be missed - return crossing for car & passengers for £23 - and they threw in 6 bottles of wine free, and a "two-for-the-price-of-one" meal during the crossing too. Overall it just cost the petrol to Dover and back - and I got 3 Mrs T squares done on the journey too - and we now have our white handles! A very successful day - and the sun shone too! (The offer is still open till the end of April if anyone wants to go - P&O Ferries, Dover/Calais).
Back to France again in the morning - this time to our second home for three weeks, not just a day trip - hopefully the weather will be good enough for some gardening. Will try and keep up with the thread while in France - life's more relaxed over there!

Hi everyone
I woke up early this morning so thought it would be a good time to post because the daylight hours seem to be whizzing by lately.
Chalky - I'm so glad you had a great time. Just try not to think about August (which I know will be really difficult for you), and make the most of your time with your DS, DIL, and dear William. You will still have Skype - believe me, it's a lifesaver!
Ginnyknit - I am so pleased you have what sounds like a wonderful trip planned. I hope you have a fantastic time; you both deserve it.
Pippa - what a fright for your Mum. I hope the doctors can find out what caused her eye problem; you must all be relieved that it was only temporary. Talking about postage, it's even more expensive here in France. I am saving my parcels so that I can post them from the UK! Fortunately, though, I have just found a stash of UK postage stamps that I saved up (from doing survey work for the Royal Mail when I was living in the UK), so I will take the parcels to the post office for weighing, and use my own stamps!
Jean - hope you are not doing too much (but I bet you are!)
F1 - you're right, we did talk about a magic carpet a year or so ago; now that the weather has improved, perhaps we should roll it out!
Moragtodd - sounds like a great offer and a successful mission! The weather is wonderful here in France this week; summer really has begun!
My Mum is still doing very well, now that she has fully accepted that she is in the right place. These days she is fully involved in life at the care home and is happy and contented, which is wonderful after such a rocky start. She hates the winter with a vegeance so, now that the weather has changed it has made all the difference.
BIL is also still battling on. He has been feeling the cold dreadfully (mainly because he can't eat properly due to the illness, so he's lost a lot of weight), but my sister says he has really picked up since the really cold weather disappeared. He has even managed to get out and about and has been helping his brother convert old cooking oil into vehicle fuel. He's got the running costs of his van down to 16p a litre! They hope to be able to market it in a small way. For me, I can't believe how he just puts his illness on the back burner and, as far as possible, does not allow it to hold him back completely.
I've had some online work to do so that has kept me occupied. DH's work is starting to pick up after a very quiet winter. We were intending to go back to the UK for a visit at Easter but that came and went for a variety of reasons, so now we hope to go during the next school holiday (May half term). It's so much better to go when the children are off school; that way we get to see more of them. We'll spend half the time with them and the other half in my home town with Mum, and my sister and BIL. I also have a shopping list as long as my arm of things I can't get here or that would be too expensive here, so it will be a busy trip, I think.
Anyway, I hope you all have a great day. I know my DH will - he has bought himself a shiny new petrol mower that will get the first outing today; our old one has been struggling (well, it is twenty five years old, so we've had our money's worth!). He's almost as excited about this as he was when we bought a brand new motorbike back in 1979, when we took it all round Europe.
We are forecast to get 26 degrees today, so it looks like summer really has arrived! I hope you all get the sun today.

Hello ladies its just a quick pop in - I had some blood test results back yesterday and I dont think they are happy reading
Its showing a thyroid problem although I dont know how bad and very low levels (or so receptionist said) of B12, Vit D, iron - when I queried the fact that I had had a blood test only in Sept and they didnt show not all these items were tested.
Ive gone into meltdown - I cant speak to Dr until Friday as they are very busy on shutdown doing training!
So maybe all my problems are not all in my head after all - I just wonder how long this has all been going on for - two weeks ago the doctor thought it was just anxiety or a virus but would do bloods in case - boy am I glad she did!
I feel so bad saying all this when Miolieres brother and others on here are such fighters
Anyway I just wanted a quick wave at you all and send you a hug and some love - I just needed a hug from all my lovely friends too xxxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
