Wonderful news, and have they decided on a name yet?
I has news too, DD is signing for her new house tomorrow - finally out of the house of mould :j:j and as its round the corner her and her fella (plus his brother) can carry most of the belongings round while I look after DGS here. Im so relieved she didnt move miles away as it would severely limit how much time we could spend with little man as OH cant go far. She moves on the 4th of April.Clearing the junk to travel light

Hi everyone. What wonderful news for Mrs Moneypenny and Ginnyknit; I'm thrilled for you both, and for your families.
I have some good news to share, too. You may all remember that my mum has Alzheimer's and that she moved into a lovely residential care home last year. You may also remember that she found it very very difficult to lose her independence and struggled to settle in but she simply would not have been safe on her own; she has eventually come to terms with it and is now enjoying her new life. The only downside is that she has glaucoma and, despite having seen lots of different opticians and eye specialists, it seems that nothing could be done for her,and she has had to give up reading, knitting, sewing, and so on, which has really upset her, and made us all feel so sad for her. Well, my sister (Jane, the one who has been looking after her so well), took her to see her own optician. He was very thorough and spent a lot of time with her and it seems that she can be helped - a lot. He was able to get her to read small print easily and now, with his prescription, Mum will have a pair a glasses within the week that will enable her to do all the things she has been missing so much. I can't tell you how excited she is and how happy we all are for her. This will give her a new lease on life and make life so much better for her. I get a warm glow every time I think about it because I know how devastated I would be if I couldn't do all those things, and it's been one of my main worries about Mum.
My BIL gets the results of his latest tests today, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that this is a good news week for him, too. He is, as usual, keeping upbeat and amazing us all.
We've had no news about any more viewings but my own good news for this week is that a friend came back from the UK on Monday and, to thank us for helping him out a few weeks ago, presented us with a huge supply of teabags (expensive here in France), 5 kilos of back bacon (impossible to get here), some proper British sausages (can't get here since our other friends closed down their pig farm - only oily salty French ones which are horrible) a supply of Oxos (also expensive here), and some work gloves for DH (also very expensive here). We had good old bacon, egg and chips last night and really enjoyed it. Needless to say, we will be having sausages tonight! He is a very nice friend; we were only too glad to help when he needed it, so all those goodies were a fantastic surprise.
We had a proper spring day yesterday but the forecast is for more snow on Monday, so spring is still some way away, I think. At least we are now into March - it can't possibly be much longer, can it?
Wooly-wise, I am using up all my scraps until I can restock my stash on our next trip back home; I've made a batch of IS hats (must update my sig - I will do that later), and I am making up some summer bunting for Mum in different pinks and purples - I'm crocheting triangles and will add different embellishments to them. She loved the Christmas garland I did, so I wanted her to have something that she hang up all year round. It's a nice project to do, so I will do some for the granddaughters, too.
I can't wait to stock up on wool when I am in the UK. I'm running very low now but it's making me use stuff up which is a good thing. I have plenty of fancy yarns and some chunky, too, but it's the DK and 4-ply, the most versatile stuff, that is running low. I know I can order it in but I love an excuse to visit my favourite wool shop in the UK, so that will be a treat to look forward too.
Anyway, I am off to put another of those precious teabags in a cup before I have my shower.
Have a great day, everyone! Let's hope we have some more good news on this lovely thread - it's about time, isn't it?

ginny so pleased to read your DDs news, that is brilliant and the fat that she is staying close is wonderful. hope the move goes well and the weather is kind on the day.
Kathy, i was moved to tears reading about your mum (happy tears of course) i know from the early days of this thread how much your mum enjoyed doing her contributions and knitting etc in general. For someone to give her the precious gift of sight back and enable her to start up these pastimes again is just fantastic.
i have everything crossed that your dbil gets some good news with his results he sounds a wonderful person.
hugs to everyone and i hope you are all well.
i hope our little run of good news grows and spreads through the group so that we all get a share in it.SPC~12 ot 124

It truly is a good news week! Mrs Moneypenny - I can tell you are delighted about the new bundle of pure joy; please give her a cuddle from me! And yes, I cried when Jane told me that Mum will be able to do again all the things she enjoyed so much. And, yes again, my BIL is wonderful - a heart of gold, he would do anything for anyone, and he has the most wicked sense of humour which hasn't deserted him. I know he must have his down quiet moments, but he is the sort who just can't stay down for long. My Dad was the same - he suffered with ill health all through a very short life, but was always laughing, smiling, and whistling!
F1 - another precious little girl for us all to celebrate! Please give her a big hug from me. Have a great weekend with your family!
Thank you all for your support and kind words.
The sun shining here, and I hope it is for all of you.

Gosh all this good news I forgot to mention its my "baby's" birthday today - he is 12 (going on 20!) - my Mum has just said on the phone it doesnt seem possible and then on the phone my little nephew, 22 months was counting on the phone and saying the word "cuckoo" as he has been to the library and listened to a story about the cuckoo - he says lots and his voice is so very cute down the phone. He was counting as he is waiting for "pa" (grandpa) to get his dinner!!!! like majority of the family he loves his food! xx
Bathroom done, approved food order just arrived so cupboards well and truly stocked with lots of goodies and the best bit is the price. Most of the surface damage has now been put away just need to hoover and dust but Im on my lunch break and thats that !Debt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0
