Oh how lovely so many of you are visiting or living in such lovely warm places. I can say I have a lot of friends in Europe now
Its chilly here but not really too bad. Hubs is asleep after a patchy night. I have just successfully bought a ball of nice yellow wool for a rainbow blanket. Its getting more and more difficult to find yarn round here. Luckily the Age Uk shop still stocks it though I have to leave Oh in the car park and run round the block to get there, or spend £2.40 in busfare  I thought the ball I got at weekend would do but its the wrong yellow but won't be wasted.
Have to do some baking before I let myself sit and do some hookyness. I was going to make scones but can't be bothered as I need to do quite a lot at once so am using a very nice light fruitcake recipe I found and will chuck 3 large cakes in instead of running in and out re-filling trays etc.
hope everyone is having a nice day hugs from GinnyClearing the junk to travel light

Oooh, all these lovely smells wafting my way. Chutney, marmalade, cakes  yummmmmmmmm.
If I could be bothered I`d go and mix up a batch of rock cakes, but I am in CBA mode today. Seriously, Can`t Be [STRIKE]A****[/STRIKE] bothered.
Sun is shining but it is very cold outside, frost hasn`t shifted in the shady bits at all. Brrrrrrr.
Dresses for skinny dollies as well as some flat hedgies have now been posted to LH lady who is having a stall at Farnborough show this weekend coming.
Back to granny squares for blankets. First blanket almost completed - sewing up in progress - squares for second one almost all done. Work probably isn`t up to Mrs Twin`s standardbut blankies will keep someone warm somewhere and the littlies with nowt won`t notice any mistakes hopefully
and it keeps my hands busy.
Have some more eyelash wool here, so can do some more hedgies as well Chalky if you think they will be needed.?
Keep warm and well everyone.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Wish I could waft the smell of the marmalade cooking in the kitchen to you all.. Think you would love the sunshine too. Cold wind though. I would on the other hand love a slice of cake or a rock cake ... Yummy.
I have just put a blog post about me stepping out from behind the Granny Square safety blanket. I am really pleased with the little balls I have made for Williams visit in April. I think I will make a set for my nephews baby due soon.
Psso. Thank you so much for thinking of me with the hedgies xx
Moragtodd. Lovely to hear about you and your life in Spain x
Ginnythose cakes sound relish.

I made 4 cakes in the end, using up some sweet mincemeat for the last 2 as DGs had eaten nearly all my dried fruit. Its the Teisen lap recipe from the Rationing Revisited website and its so easy. I even added grated apple to the first 2 to make up the weight of fruit. I was trying to keep the oven full whilst I cooked other things
Love the latest blog post Chalky, those crochet balls are cute. DGs loves jingle bells and found a box of them at weekend. He spent an hour putting them in and out of a little wooden box then hiding it in his toybox and looking suprised when he found them again- the cheeky monkey he is. :T
Off to crochet now as tea is ready and I can put my feet up.Clearing the junk to travel light

Ooh, lots of productivity in the kitchens today.
Have cake and chutney on my mind now!
Hi Pam, I think some bamboo dpns might be in order as most of my needles are now. Had treated myself to a pair of Lantern Moon needles which were lovely to use but they got sat on- don't ask.
Is anyone using any of the interchangeable circular sets? I can really see the advantage of them but not sure I'd like to use only circs all the time because of my "interesting" needle holding.
Going to try and finish my dpn hat while watching some rubbish.
Ginny, I love your mantra - does it work? :rotfl:
Night all x0 -
Hello to one and all and the usual big dollop of love tucked in...
We have just been out with friends for a menu del dia.
How they manage to serve such wonderful three course lunches with a bottle of vino blanco and coffee for 10 Euros amazes me. Simply delicious. It has actually gone very cold here so it's cosy on down with my trusty hook. I am so enjoying the little hexagonal balls with a little bell in. I promise soon to get to grips with posting pictures again. Dear Roamin sent me all the instructions but was was full at the time with DMIL.
Hope you are all busy, happy and well. If not the gentlest thoughts just for you xTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
afternoon all, hugs to those caring for poorlies, or are poorly themself, or just feeling in need of a hug.
finished baby blanket for the new baby in the family due in aug, now to knit some little cardigans and hats too, in between knitting for charity.
sun is out here, tho its still a bit chilly, but sunshine makes it look warmer and makes me feel better. been struggling again with depression lately, but today seems to have been a better day, been out to a lunch club with some of other residents here, my cleaner has cleaner up, so house looks nice, and i been to morrisons for a bit of shopping, and met a nice bloke in car park... who asked me if he could buy me a coffee in the cafe, he was nice looking and around my age, so i said yes.
after a drink and chat, we exchanged phone numbers. doubt it will go anywhere, but it made my day, first time in ages a guy has taken any notice of me ,lol
hugs all

sorry pepys am here but not quite caught up with you all.
Big decision made here that I want to come of the spreadsheet; not to say i wont do charity stuff but am trying to jettison as much stress as I can and knowing Im "on a list" adds some so roaming can you take me off? I will of course continue to chat/pop in etc just at the moment stress is so bad that I need to minimise as much as I can for my own sanity.
I had my D&C last Friday and went as well as count be expected; went back to work today but the sense of dread/dismay only seems to increase with each passing day. Not much I can do in terms of job change for a while for various reasons which i wont go into so will just have to stick it but do have a cunning plan which Ill reveal when/if it comes to fruition. I also plan to find rich farmer to marry so I can stay home craft and bake!! Blessed news (I have some! hurrah!) is that my lovely friend had her baby (9ibs +!! Oww!) and I met him yesterday and made a special effort to give his older brther lots of distracting pressies and am pleased to report he loved his Thomas the tank cup, plate and bowl so a happy surrogate aunty I am!
Im so sorry to have been absent/useless for so long but know that those that know me know that my work involves dealing with some of the most disadvantaged people in society (those normally described as "scum" by many) and that 99% goes into trying to support them and the rest is family (mum well and happily found sewing with my machine!) and keeping me sane with crafty stuff...am in quilt mode at present and am getting on with my Goddaughters hand made quilt...a labor of love but shes worth it!
hugs allxxx
