Knit Your Square to Give Your Share - PART 4

Hope everyone's having a good day and enjoying some of the lovely sunshine we got today (waited long enough!).
Finally I don't feel such a fraud being a member of this forum - just posted off my first SIBOL squares so at last I think I deserve to be here! It's not that I don't knit & crochet, but it's the first time I've sent any squares. Last year I was doing lots of craft work to try and sell at a church fair - my local church has a building fund going, to raise the money to adapt the church for community uses, and nearly everything I made last year was for them. The pressure's off that one for the moment, as the next big fair won't be till September - so now I can do some stuff for my own family or for other causes.
We're driving down to the south of France soon so I'll have another couple of days in the car to occupy. OH prefers to do all the driving so I can sit and knit... I'm about halfway through a double bed size blanket - trouble is if I knit for that I will have to bring all my squares back in a rucksack as we'll be returning by air. Maybe a smaller project to while away the time in the car?
Good night all.Morag

Good morning to all from a `not quite as Grumpy Old Woman`:rotfl: Normal service has been resumed -well what passes for normal here anyway;)
Frosty start yesterday but sun came out to play and so did we. DD, little J and I went for a jaunt in the motor, first day out for a while. Had lunch which was a bit more expensive than we expected. Place used to be quite reasonable but have put up their prices obviously, we won`t be going back till we`ve saved up some pennies.
We then went up the high street to get some wool. I bought some there about 18 months ago and have been doing granny squares for a blanket with it. Decided to edge each one with a new different colour (so you don`t see the joins) and do a border in the same colour. Of course there was absolutely nothing remotely suitable in my stash.
Mission accomplished, we went for a walk to the park and had great fun on the swings, slide and rocker thingys. Little J that is. He so nearly didn`t get that treat as he had a bit of a tantrum in the restaurant and had to be forcibly removed by grandma, as his mum was getting a bit embarassed. Not his usual style as he`s normally a sunny natured wee lad, but they all have their `moments` don`t they.
Anyway, it`s frosty here again today so we might have another nice day. Last day of holidays from work so make the most of it as it`s back to the grindstone tomorrow.
Has anyone been having trouble getting on to the LH forum ? Been trying since yesterday morning and still not getting on, can`t sign in, can`t even view as a guest - nothing
Will just have to go and do the weekly shop instead  grrrr I HATE SHOPPING. Any sort of shopping is horrible - unless it involves wool.:T
By the way, I can confirm that Jean`s quiet book is a stunner, having seen one `in the flesh` Such a lot of work goes into them, something similar in a shop would cost a FORTUNE.
Right, I`m going to have a cuppa before braving the supermarket, so lots of squishy hugs to anyone who needs them, in fact have some even if you don`t particularly need them. It`s always nice to have a hug

Good afternoon everybody and lots of love tucked in xx
It is very cloudy here to day So I am having a fiddle.
I really do know my work is far from perfect but that does not stop me being on the fussy/perfectionist/frustrating side.
I have. Left behind the BIG blanket which has now over 500 squares. It is for a king size bed but ..... I have been puzzled by this tension issue.
My iris blanket lays completely flat. My Lappys lay flat so why did the big blanket have to go and have madonnas type bulges in it. The sporty one says he likes madonnas type bulges. But that is no help at all as I am sure he is not talking about blankets !!!!
Well I measured before I left and I need about another 100 squares to make the central part of the blanket before the border. So I decided to make them here and take them home. Now I have got space to think I believe the problem to be linked to the fact that I have not worked my trebles in clusters of three as in a normal granny. But have worked in single trebles. There are too many trebles in the square!!!!!!!
So now that I have worked it out and checked that when I work the same size square in clusters it lays totally flat .... I know I am never going to be happy with the big blanket!!! So as it is nearly all sewn together I am going to finish it and as my dear daughter 1 loves it she shall have it . With no mention of bumps to disillusion her. I will make her a crochet elephant as here
http://jammadestudio.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/crochet_15.html
to go with it and send it on its way.. Sigh!!! Then I WILL make a big blanket for me with clustered granny's.
F1... Thinking of you as you get ready for the op
