Good morning everybody. Still doing exactly as you told me. I am sitting in Iris's place just outside the front door and in a minute I am going to hook the border on my memory blanket.
We went out for a lovely meal last night. It is very quiet here partly because of the time of the year and also there is definitely evidence of the recession biting. So we were made to feel very welcome.
We usually eat in mainly but I have told Doh that he has to be ready to go out and relax. We are going to try new places with no memories of Mum and last nights was a 10 out of 10 so that was a good start.
Psso. I agree with Jean and some. Would people not know how much it would mean to you to be there supporting that brave smile. Wish we had been there for you xxxx
Jean ... You are a complete star, I have been thinking of things to keep William occupied on the long flight to Dubai and am wondering whether to make a quiet book. That snake will be wonderful. How I wish we could meet xx
Seakay .. Thank you so much for popping over to Chalkys and leaving a lovely comment
Pippa .. Hope you soon feel better. Brimming stress counts for a lot . Gentlest thoughts til you get some Devonshire air xx
Shaz.. Well done .. What a journey you have had with the boys but now they are thankful for your advice. Hope mum goes on ok.
Kathy. How is your online work going?
Ginny xxx
F1. Are your pots filling this year? Xx
Well we have been invited out for lunch so must get on. There was a lovely picture of William on Facebook early this morning and he looks just like Boris JohnsonTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Good morning all.
Psso thats awful, good old fashioned manners seem to be missing there. At least it went ok and DD enjoyed it.
Everbody seems to be having lots of stress to cope with I do hope you all have a peaceful weekend and get to share a little of the nicer weather I am having. Had DGS yesterday as usual and it was lovely again,he is coming on in leaps and bounds. i know his autism means things will never be simple but his smile and kisses more than make up for the hard work. OH has had quite a few sleepy days but we are doing ok. I am having to meditate a lot as I get very upset and tense being at home so much but yes I do keep busy. I am doing lots more charity things for special people I meet online whom I have come to know as genuine people.
Just finished the squares Mrs Twins sent and am making up a Jean Greenhowe clown for Mums friends - I have done a lot of them over the years and they get really annoying but it has to be doneThe pile of finished stuff is beginning to take over so this year I will definately have to organise a Christmas stall or 2 or I will be sleeping on the couch as the bed will be full of knitting:rotfl:
Sending hugs to all my dear friends here. Chalky it sounds as if you are beginning to relax a little, I am so pleased that you got away xxxClearing the junk to travel light

chalky - lovely to hear you are relaxing and hearing about what you are up to - big hug and lots of loving thoughts to you and sporty xxx
psso -:mad::mad: was equally upset and mad for you when I read your post rude and inconsiderate not to mention thoughtless as you say this was where you were married etc do some not even think how hard it was for you and that they should have been there to support you and equally celebrate DD's happy birthday celebrations - I wholeheartedly support the "wish we were there" theory - anyway we are always here for you not matter what xx wish DD a happy birthday from "virtual auntie" xx

Hi everyone
Elaine - I can understand your fury and would definitely have expected RSVPs; it seems that not everyone is brought up with good manners these days. Hugs to you.
Pippa - I hope that you and all your loved ones are feeling better now, and I hope all goes well for Mum's hospital stay.
Chalky - glad that you and DH are relaxing. In answer to your questions, the online work has been a bit quiet since Christmas but is starting to pick up again now, and the sale of the building plot is progressing and, according to the solicitor, should complete within the next two weeks (although this being France, we are not banking on it!). Anyway, as soon as it is finished with, we will book the ferry for our next trip back to the UK, which will be around the end of March. We still have a plot left and someone is coming to view that today, and we have a house viewing on Wednesday, so we are keeping our fingers crossed for a good week!
Oh, and yes, it has stopped raining and we've had some lovely sunny days - I've even been able to put the washing on the line!
Jean - you poor thing. Do you know how long it will be before you get your woman-cave back? I hope you don't have to wait too long. I love the marble maze; what a brilliant idea! I have still not been able to find a sewing machine in Lidl's - they just don't seem to have had any in for ages, but one is on my list for when we go back to the UK. I will definitely be making marble mazes for the little ones as soon as I have a machine up and running. I think they'll make great shoebox gifts and stocking fillers, too. (Sorry if I've mentioned C*******s too soon!).
F1 - hope all is well for you.
Shaz - hope life is treating you well.
Ginnyknit - hugs to you and your OH. I made loads of Jean Greenhowe's clowns over the years. They are great patterns, aren't they? I was sorting out boxes only the other day and found the 'painting' clown, along with the Postman Pat and the womble that I made for DS2, so I will be 'repatriating' them soon for his two girls.
Well, I'm concentrating on baby hats at the moment, but I've had a request for a tea cosy from a friend with whom we had tea and muffins yesterday afternoon, so I've been seaching for a pattern for that. I've also almost finished hats for DGDs 3 and 4 - I'm doing those square-shaped hats and they will have corkscews added to the corners. That little family is off to Austria on Wednesday for a wedding, so the girls have been modelling their ski-wear for me on Skype, bless them. They looked so cute! I haven't seen their bridesmaid dresses yet - it seems they are more interested in all the fun they will have in the snow!
The other thing I am making is an embellished crochet heart (pattern is on Attic 24's blog and is really easy) for my Mum for Mothering Sunday - it's something light that I can post, and I will take more gifts for her when we go back. She's doing so well at the moment that it's hard to get her to answer the phone in her room because she's downstairs getting on with lots of activities with the other residents these days. BIL is still doing reasonably well considering, but his prospects are not too good. He and my sister are just taking things a day at a time.
Anyway, I'm off to put the kettle on again. I hope you all have great days today.

Hello to one and all.
Well I went to yoga this morning and it did me Si much good. I have a wonderful Israeli teacher who does not mind I am as flexible as a brick but is so encouraging and supportive . The final relaxation period is amazing and was just what I needed. And the sun has been shining all day.
I have finished the memory blanket for iris and will blog about it soon . A different colour palette than I personally would choose but mum would love it.
Well I have also read a whole book since yesterday. If you have not read "the boy in the striped pyjamas" I would recommend you do. However, it is a story that will stay with you forever.
It is lovely to see so many people posting at the moment and as usual some lovely acts of kindnesses going on. Xxxx
Jean .. Love those marble runs
F1... Thinking of you as I am sure you are not looking forward to your op.you will be a new woman. Your blog is lovely as is your handicrafts.
Kathy .. Everything crossed for things going on this week. Just think how much wool you will be able to buy to celebrate! I bet the grandchildren love the snow.
Pippa.. Hope things are calming down for you a bit. Love to you both.
Mrs m... You sound so busy xxx
Ginny. I often think of you xxx
Now I have to decide what to hook next. Hmmmmm not sure. Must get off here and give it some thought.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -

i keep meaning to read that, i read the book thief and would say the same thing about that, its about a jewish girl growing up in nazi germany, a beautifully written book that really does stay with you and touch your soul, i would recommend it.
the blanket sounds beautiful.

Thanks for the lovely link, Jean; there's bound to be something there!
Chalky - I shall look out for that book. I've just finished reading The Mill on the Floss; I read it years ago and enjoyed it. I'm trying to revisit some of the classics I read when I was younger; I'd almost forgotten just how good some of them are. Right now, I'm hunting through my bookcases for my next read.
Mrs Moneypenny - glad DD has landed safely.
Well, it's been lovely and sunny here but with a biting wind; good for the washing on the line, but not so good for standing there pegging it out!
Have a great evening, everyone.
