Hi everyone - I've been working on a new post for the new year (a bit late, I know, but life at Chez Mioliere is a bit stressful at the moment). I thought I would pop in to see how you all are and I am so sorry, Chalky, to hear of your sad loss. I know how close you were to your DMIL and what a wonderful MIL she was to you,and you were a wonderful DIL to her, too. Please give my condolences to your DH. It's a very sad time for your family.

Jean's fantastic update spreadsheet for 2012 shows that we reached a great total for the year of 1,461 items, so well done and thanks to you all, especially as it's been a sad and anxious year for many of you. Jean has already started on the 2013 spreadsheet so thanks, Jean, you are truly a star!

As I say, I am working on a 'proper' post for 2013 and will get that finished over the next few days.

Sadly, my mum is not doing so well; she keeps getting chest infections and the Alzheimer's is affecting her rapidly mainly because they can't treat her for it because of her lung problems. It's a horrid vicious circle. Luckily, the staff at the home treat her very well and she's as happy as she can be. Her glaucoma is not so good but the opticians are going to take another look at her to see if they can help her in some way. She finds it really difficult to read and she loves her books, so if they can find a way to make it easier for her, it will make life a lot more bearable.

Equally sadly, my BIL has been told that it will soon be time to think about the sort of hospice care he wants to choose for what they call 'the final stages'. I must admit that my heart sank like a stone when my sister told me that, and we are finding it very hard to come to terms with it. At the moment, he is 'rallying' (that positive attitude again),and is even managing to eat proper food again, so we are as hopeful as we are prepared, if you see what I mean. He really won't go down without throwing everything he's got at this awful disease.

We have almost sold one of our building plots, so that is a bit of good news, although the good old bureaucracy is now in full swing and causing unnecessary headaches. Still, it means we can complete the last few jobs on the house to make it more saleable, hopefully.

My two eldest grandchildren had birthdays this week; Sam is now thirteen and Lucy is ten, and I can't believe it because it seems such a short time ago that they were babies. The years fly by, don't they?

Talking of grandchildren, Chalky, it is so lovely that your DMIL had that first special year with William, wasn't it?

Hugs to you all, especially those with sadness and worries in their lives right now. I hope that 2013 is good to you all.

I will come back when I have completed the ' New Year' post over the next few days.

Mrs Mp its so true that I have many wonderful friends I have met over the last few years on the internet and they keep me going, equally I cry at their losses and do a happy dance at their triumphs.

kathy, hope the red tape falls away miraculously and you sort out the sale. Im sorry your Mum is having a bad time, hopefully things will improve soon. I know you have so much on your mind and all we can send are hugs.

Shaz sounds as if you are recovering well, all that snoozing that does it you know. If you rest you are not putting any strain on the stitches and so it heals better - Im amazed you are being so good, I would have driven every one crazy by now :D

Morning all, brrrr it`s bloomin cold isn`t it ?

Been snowing here since about 7.30, just no let up at all and lying on top of the stuff from the beginning of last week.

Took twice as long to get DS to work this morning and even longer coming back. My `puddlejumper` is in for her MOT _pale_ - dread to think what it`s going to cost to fix - and I have a courtesy car so controls are different and there was no petrol in the bl**dy thing  So there I was trying to find the wipers, stay far enough back from the car in front, crossing my fingers I would get to the garage to put some petrol in, snow whirling around and I`m supposed to be at work for 10.30  No way !!

Came up the road from the garage and got stuck in traffic again. A range rover type car had either broken down or couldn`t get up the hill in the snow and the cars were doing 3 point turns in the road and coming down again. I was within sight of the end of our road so switched on the indicator, pulled out and kept going :D

Got in and phoned work to ask what the weather is like out there (about 16 miles away) and the supervisor tells me " Oh it`s snowing here but the roads are clear, you`ll be OK and if it gets worse you can go home early"
Hmm, only in for 4 hour shift (minimum wage) today -by the time I get there....weather gets worse, get away early......struggle home again......
NAH, I just won`t be in today :rotfl:

Fire is blazing away so nice and cosy. Will settle down with woolly stuff in front of Cbeebies with little J for a nice relaxing afternoon.

Sorry to read of poorlies Kathy. Difficult when you are so far from them.

Chalky - big hugs to help you & Sporty through these difficult days.

Ginnyknit - enjoy the quiet times while OH is sleeping.

Shaz - take care of yourself and enjoy the reading, resting and snoooooozing in front of the telly.

Going to have a bowl of chicken, noodle and veg soup which I made last night and do some freezer diving to see what we can have later.

    Stay warm and safe everyone.

I will look forward to the bag arriving Mrs Twins, I love getting parcels even if they are going on somewhere else when Ive done my bit :D.
I will post the challenge one next week.

nearly finished my 3rd blanket - the one for Sibol, the coffee and cream (which needs ends sewing in) and my single bed sized one is now coming together. I have been accumulating the squares over several months and love it when its time to put them together.

Free hugs to you all, thinking of my dear friends who are carrying a heavy load xxx

Thank you so much for all your kindness and consideration. The plans and lists are coming together but it all takes a while. The crematorium was really busy!!!!
Luckily we have managed to get the Village Hall for the lunch after the service. She attended the Luncheon Club there for the past 20 years!
So very apt. Has anyone any experience of the Sainsburys Platters. They look ideal.

Kathy Your hands are definitely overflowing. I am so sorry. Bad news on 2 fronts. My thoughts are with you and all your family. I do hope BIL continues with such a positive attitude. He sounds wonderful.
Good news about the plot. Perhaps that will help you move towards your dream xxxx

Ginny-- Lots of love to you.Your woolly work is such a distraction. I am so glad.

Psso -- I am glad you did not go out in that weather.

    Shaz-- keep resting.

Mrs Moneypenny.I hope your SIL'S pregnancy is going well.

Pippa I will love picking up the squares as it will mean the summer is on the way.
