Pippa - you should be using collect + or parcels 2 go - much cheaper than the P.O. Save your dosh for important things - spoiling the grandchildren and wool and holidays and - well you get the idea I am sure.

I am away to catch up on the forums and blogs that I have been missing seeing for the last couple of days

I have found a couple of crusty croissant on top of the freezer (DH says HE LEFT THEM THERE- two days ago!) so I am just going to make them into marmalade/sultana/real custard pudding (I know it should be bread - but doesn't that sound boring instead of exciting?). If I don't appear tomorrow I am obviously sick with eating it!

    Organisation .com here!!!!!

Feel as if we have scrambled egg heads but OK really. People are being so kind which is lovely.

My BIG blanket is getting so big. I want to work on it on my lap but it is getting too big so I ave to lay it on the bed to see how the colours and seams work. Now that poses a problem as it gives me an "out" ... In other words I can start a small project to work on in between. BUT what I need to do is keep working on the little squares. A battle is going to rage for the next alf an hour!!!

Hope everyone is surviving the weather.

    Update
Jam jar army challenge. My jam jar is full ... Partly because there is so much change at DMIL'S . Total of £7.33 which I am going to donate to the League of friends at our local hospital where she died. I was really impressed with her/our GP this evening . He rang to offer his condolences at the end of his surgery. So nice of him.

Take care everyone in this weather

  • Hi everyone

Not popped in for a while, been a touch busy getting the kids at school to get on with some work for once - coursework deadlines are looming and they have absolutely no interest...

I've finally managed to finish a project for me, shockingly - used up am odd skein and some leftovers of a horrendously bright and girly but incredibly soft pink wool to make a lacy shawl/wrap. It's a worsted weight wool, so not traditionally lacy, but much more my style. I might try dyeing over it in a blue, and see if I can make it kind of purple - need to avoid felting it though.

I've got a nice big granny square blanket on the go at the moment, working my way through a stash of JCBrett Marble Chunky. I love this stuff, but I keep buying it and I swear it breeds in my stash!

    :) x

  • Hi folks, just posting this link below..... for those who have littlies to give to or for charity giving.

    http://community.annthegran.com/blogs/memory-book/archive/2012/08/24/keeping-it-simple-is-it-a-snake-or-a-caterpillar.aspx

I have been "toying" with making some of these for a wee while now but rather than use the ribbon I thought I would use something like a knitted I-CORD....... what do you think????

I do hope you are all staying warm out safe and out of all that rotten weather. Hugs to everyone.

    Hi everyone
We are gradually working through the lists!!!! Solicitors this morning!

Last night the result of the battle of the big blanket and the Baktus scarf was declared a non event. I left the big blanket on the bed to add squares to later but did not start a new project. I sewed up sets of squares for the big blanket. I really, really want to finish this project as it is so special before starting another one. However, I am slightly alarmed at the weight of the BIG blanket as it is growing. I fear all this work will just be for a visual effect on the bed rather than something you can cosy down with. Not sure how that fits with so much work and yarn in my head.

Jean I love those little caterpillars and know William wold to but I always end up not speaking to the sewing machine when we try and form a meaningful relationship. And I am not in the mood to have an argument with anything just now. I actually like the ribbon effect.

Take care in the weather everyone xxx

    Hi

OH had to go back to the Doctors again today they kept him waiting so long yesterday they could'nt do the blood test because it was after 12 o'clock...which is when the bloods are all picked up by the lab

We had some lunch then OH said "get your coat on" "why" said I..."thought you wanted to go to Lidl for some wool"...well... I was under the stairs, into my coat and pulling my boots on in no time flat...and came back with, 3 small hooks and 2 packs (200gr. each) of lovely soft cotton yarn all for £7:49 :j :T

jean - thanks for reminding me about collect plus, I had a google and there is a shop not too far from us
chalky - it seems to take forever to get things sorted doesn't it? Your blanket will be beautiful, any thoughts on edgings yet

Now the freeform squares are done for SIBOL I aim to make a start on a Baktus scarf tonight really like the look of it

    Well I must away
    love to all Ax

Love the caterpillar thingies, I am going to have to make DGs one. think I will do circles, squares and triangles cos he loves them. You could actually use the fusible interfacing and just iron 2 shapes together cut the buttonhole and you wouldnt have to sew at all. Think they just need to be that little bit rigid to make the game work. Hope you all understood that. Am a bit baffled by life today and have far too much stressy type things going on for my liking

Hugs to all my dear friends here xx
