Lots of love to one and all and thank you all for such loving, supportive gestures. We are both so touched by your kindness and consideration.

Iris died so peacefully at about eight o'clock last night. We were with her and also dd2 and her partner. It was just as anyone would wish. Quiet, calm and peaceful.

It was very difficult having to tell our youngest daughter who is still in America working. She seemed so far away and the usual family cuddles were much needed but Skype not the same.

So now it is a time for quiet reflection, adjustment and some much needed sleep!!!

    Thank you all again.
Shaz I hope your op went ahead and is a complete success.
    Love Linda

  • Just typed a long message then lost it all when going back up to read an earlier one - I have a lot to learn about using message boards, blogs etc - feel like I should have "L" plates in my signature...

Chalky - so sorry to read of your loss; however peaceful and expected it is always sad for those left behind. Your blog reminded my of the time I spent knitting beside my mother's hospice bed... took several years before I could finish off that piece of work.

Shaz - do hope you had your operation and that it went well.

We've had no snow in the south of France (well, a tiny bit of sleet was all) but are thinking of all further north as we watch the weather reports. Do hope that the snow hasn't been too much of a problem for anyone.

I'm getting back into craftwork with a vengeance this week as I'm a "snooker widow" - the TV seems to be showing the green table almost constantly. I have several projects on the go - I've never been the sort to stick to one thing at a time! Just started work again on a knitted blanket that's been tucked away at the back of the wardrobe for a year or two, and I've also been making my first attempts at hand stitched patchwork. I've enjoyed looking at the current SIBOL challenges but haven't yet decided which I'll have a go at. Most of my stash is back in the UK; there's not much in my French cupboards that is suitable. I did wander into a charity shop last week and buy a few balls of yarn, but nothing is yet shouting at me!

    Good night everyone!
