  • Hi there! I'm new(old) to MSE, but definitely old with knitting... I've had a look at the info back on post on 1885, but was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of UK based charities that accept handknits (mostly gloves, hats, scarves, and the occasional blanket)? It'd be good to get them off my shelving unit and to someone that would appreciate them!

Ah, spelling is over rated... Crochet hooks are not. If in doubt, keep stitching!

Little did I think when I joined your thread what a big part of my life you would all become. You are the most generous of spirit skein of people I have the honour of being part of. ( get it? skein :D) I have enjoyed every stitch knowing I was part of something wonderful.

the generosity doesnt end there either I have been gifted some lovely things that have helped me immensley and have been able to pay it forward too. Have a wonderful day tomorrow and I look forward to a better year for us all hugs ginny xxxx

Welcome Lucylollypop - I am sure the others will be back with some ideas for you donations but I can make a start - below is a link to the Loving Hands donations -
    http://lovinghands.freeforums.org/charities-organisations-in-need-of-donations-f97.html
you can send them direct to the address on the posts. alternatively
here are a few ideas for places to donate local to you hats, scarves and gloves, blankets - if you have a local Salvation Army, Outreach/homeless groups, Womens Shelter, local Seamens mission, Church Groups etc they are always welcome there, you can also try your local residential care homes, animal shelters etc

Up early as I need to just count cows for a couple of days more......will pop back in later today, wishing you all a great happy healthy peaceful new year.
