Hi laura go to page 95 of this thread and look for post 1885 and you will find all the info you need about the lovely people who set up this thread - they are so much more than knitters - true friends who care a great deal about everyone that passes them by.

Hello Laura 16. I do hope you stay around and get to know us all as we start the New Year.

Love to one and all and thinking of you all as the New Year approaches. I hope people will feel more like popping in and bringing this lovely thread back to life .

Updates..... Full discharge from eye clinic... OMG no more excuses for typo errors! I have been dying to put some mascara on again.

Mother in law looks like being in hospital for an age. Two blood transfusions now and Bon antibiotics. Not been out of bed yet!

I am making an attempt at knitting a sock after the most wonderful pair landed on my mat, sent by our very lovely Shaz just before Christmas. I loved hers so much I took them to bed and cuddled them all night!

Well,Pippa had my circular needle when I tried a cowl and that ended up against the wall!

The Jan Eaton book of 200 squares is banished to I am not sure where now as it was winking at me from the cupboard of doom under the stairs.

And getting back to the sock well I have never knitted with four needles but was really pleased with myself when a tube was forthcoming. I even managed to knit the heel flap. Then disaster struck when I had to get the stitches picked up add stitch markers and get them sorted out on four needles again. Now ripped back to the tube of the sock once more but I fear there will soon be 4 double pointed needles up for grabs on here. I am such a dope when it comes to understanding patterns.

My wool shop lady says it is because I over read the pattern I think it is actually because I am useless at following instructions and my dear husband agrees with me !!!!!! He might be up for grabs too!!!!
    Xxx for you all

  • laura, welcome to the thread
f1, hope you see your family soon
chalky, you made me smile when i read that you took your socks to bed and cuddled them.
well done on knitting the tube part on the four needles, thats the hardest part to learn in my opinion.
dont know which pattern your using, but i've never used stitch markers with sox.
to be honest i use 5 needles, i share the stitches between 4 of them, and use the other to knit with. then when it comes to heel flap, i just use the stitches on two of the needles, .
loves to knit and crochet for others
  • Thank you for the welcome Chalky sorry to hear about your mother in law.

I heard about a really good new mascara the other day that gives the impression of false lashes but actually works, although I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, I couldn't justify buying any at the time.

I do hope to stick around I love crocheting but never really know what to make so it will be nice to be able to make things and send them to help someone else. I've registered on the loving hands website I'm just waiting for that to be confirmed. Now I just need to choose something to make, any suggestions? I had thought about a pink and white blanket has I proberbly have enough wool for that without buying anymore.

Ha ha ha ha ha .... I think we need a New Years spelling typo /error competition your post ,Jean should have read life.... I bet like me the blessed predictive text kicked in, and it sure has a mind of it's own!!!

Have you kept the sock knitting under your bushel? I shall have to try again. The lady in the shop made me laugh. She said don't stress over it because bedsocks don't even have heels so just knit the tube then make the toe. But that will not do. I am going to the library to get a book.

good evening all i have been suffering insomnia  all week and lost my mojo  Dgs stayed last night and was as sweet as ever. However some idiot outside woke him at 4 am, goodness me I was in such a state and couldnt stop crying from sheer exhaustion.I have suffered insomnia for many years and worked long days on little sleep but this time it floored me. Anyway DGs was as good as gold and fell asleep while I changed his nappy at 7 am - well I was massaging his feet and that just closed his eyes, reflexology is really useful :rotfl: After he went home I slept for hours so think I am back to normal at last.

F1 christmas is a really emotional time for lots of people, its best you let the tears out hunny, they are no good inside. It doesnt help that your all swollen up and cannot relax with your knitting. xx

Chalky, its good that your MIl is in safe hands, then things can be dealt with fast, hard on the family though. I knit socks on 2 needles as I cannot juggle more :D They come out pretty good if I say so myself. If I can find the link I will send it you. Aww William is so cute, he makes me smile everytime I see him.
