F1 hope hubbys op goes ahead, am crossing my fingers for you xx

Hope alls well in knitty world and everyone is keeping warm.

Im busy still finishing throws for pressies, scarf for Dd. We had DGS last night and he has decided to speak, lots and lots, cant understand it all and no doubt the speech therapist will think its the 1 hour session she had with him that did it. When he shuts himself in my office he shouts 'Manma, manma!' He alway used to call me that. He seems a bit flu- ish but went home and had a nap and seems much better now.

Had a bit of good luck, sold rather a lot of collectibles on Fleabay and made lots of cash, won a voucher from Joanna Sheen for having a letter printed on her website (mid December), sold a duplicate knitting pattern on Amazon, sold my old mobile for £11 and won a parcel of Ikea toys from a fellow blogger - am quite amazed at it all and very happy that we have some extra cash around - of course the Joanna Sheen bit was the best, was so chuffed that they will print my letter didnt notice I got a voucher too :rotfl:

The dentist thinks he can cap my tooth, so no extraction :j and he put a good temp filling in in case I cant get back because of Oh's problems - so nice when people understand x

ginnyknit - it was lovely to hear all of your good news - you deserve it - will now have to go back and read joannas newsletter - I get the email and dont always read everything - Mum is a huge fan of Joanna - I even phoned her one day to ask what colour nail varnish she wore on Create and Craft as Mum wanted it ( was making an order as well Im not that la la....) and guess what the lady gratefully obliged and gave me the make and colour - they are good in the office
Ikea toys are very good well made so that will be nice and well done on the money in the pot - I must admit the last sales for us were about a month ago nothing since I should have done really - and the pot in ebay paid for xmas presents

DS had on his xmas list, amongst other things a Superdry coat (approx £120 and a electronic gadget for filming whilst on Playstation £65 - £120) I paid £50 for the two from ebay out of my sales money earlier in the year - the coat has been worn but you would never know and the gadget used but its in original box etc - am I bad buying second hand for xmas??? - hubby and I dont think so and it means DS gets what he wants - we have friends who are horrified that we have done this - weve done it most years and DS does not know the difference Im sure most children wouldnt

Anyway well done again Ginny - hubby now in bubbly bath relaxing he is very nervous Im pampering him so better go and wash his back ..................:rotfl:

I think that it's fine to get presents from where ever you can find them - especially when it means that you can actally get what has been asked for. Much better that getting something new that isn't wanted!

I think a gift is a gift when it comes from the heart and much better you keep your cash as long as possible. My 2 never ever complain and are always happy with whatever we get them. DS earns a good wage but will always find the bargains and knows I love it when he buys me something special but even better when he doesnt pay full price :D

  • f1, my sons sometimes had second hand xmas pressies, but they either didnt know, or they werent bothered, they were happy they got something they wanted, than something new they didnt want.
it has rubbed off on them both now they live alone, and dont have much money, they always look in cash converters, cex, etc, for 2nd hand mobiles, and electrical items

Hi everyone, at last. I have had horrendous internet problems here which look as if they may now, fingers crossed, be sorted out at last. It's nearly driven me mad, especially as I am paying through the nose for the connection here, and I seem to be more off than on. It's been really intermittent so for ages I have only been logging in now and again - needless to say, the house is really clean and shipshape now because I've had so much 'spare' time!

I have just done the update, and I really hope that I can keep up doing it weekly but of course that depends on France Telecom and Orange.

I haven't read the last week or so on here so I shall back-track in a minute and find out what you've all been up to.

Things here are plodding on. It doesn't look as if we'll be able to go back to the UK for Christmas which is really getting me down; I was hoping to avoid having to spend another one here. We hope to go back some time in January - the two eldest grandchildren have their birthdays then, so we should still have something good to celebrate.

My Mum is getting more confused by the day now, and when I phoned her last night, for the first time it took her a while to realise which one of her daughters I was. She's just getting over shingles which is good, but she seems very down which is so unlike her. There's a lot going on in the family and the residential home for Christmas so I am hoping that that will cheer her up.

My BIL starts another round of chemo on the 10th of this month and the doctors are also trying him on another cancer drug - the one they give to patients with colorectal cancer, although that's not what he's got. They have said it's not experimental (although he wouldn't mind what they wanted to try) but that they have had good results with it in other patients, so it's worth a go. He has tumours starting to crop up in his stomach as well as his liver, which is not good, but they managed to add a new stent to the old one that had stopped working, and the effect on his jaundice was immediate and very good, so we are just keeping everything crossed.

I must admit to feeling a bit out of sorts myself lately; I'm worried about things back in the UK and I resent being stuck here, and at the moment no-one is looking at properties for sale here, so I don't think we'll have any more viewings until the new year now.

Wool-wise, I've done a few more squares but I am now concentrating on Christmas presents, and have almost finished a crochet doll for Summer, and I will do another one for Megan. I am designing separate clothes for the dolls so that they get a bit more 'play' out of them, and I am really enjoying the challenge. The basic doll pattern is from here http://byhookbyhand.blogspot.fr/

I am doing the Mini Free Spirit doll (you will need to scroll down the page quite a bit). I don't like the eyes on the original so will do something different, but the rest of the pattern is lovely, and the dolls even have proper feet and hands, too, which is very clever! The originals have pipe-cleaners in them, but I am leaving those out for safety reasons.

I hope the weather is not too cold there. It's turned colder here but we still have some sun now and again, although we wake up to hard frosts in the morning.

I hope you are all keeping well and am sending lots of hugs to all in need.

    morning all
massive caring hugs to everyone regardless of whether you need one or not i think we all deserve one.
lovely news for the cambridges, i really feel for Kate as i came out of all my pregnancies lighter than i went into them and being ill was how i knew i was pregnant 4/5 times. i hope she feels much better soon and is able to enjoy her pregnancy and has a healthy baby.
Kathy perhaps it was because of your mums recent shingles she was a little confused but these things do happen my dads not really too bad but i can get called anything from my own sister to his sister when i phone him and he always calls my DH te name of my step sisters DH.
i hope the treatment goes well for your dear bil and he is comfortable as can be.
jinny glad the visit to the dentist wasnt too bad and i hope all other hospital and dentist visits for you both go well
F1 hugs for you and please make sure you get plenty of rest after your op a friend has just had it and i didnt realise how tiring (bt worth it) it could be sounds like your reasons are similar to hers.

huge thank yous to everyone who helped making things for the craft stall, it went well and we made £21.50 ok not a huge sum but as i was mostly selling to kids i kept the prices quite low and most of the tihngs went. one lovely girl who was helping out on another stall but hadnt been given spending money manged to persuade a friend to buy her one of the crocheted balls she kept coming back squeezing the others and saying how 'gorge' they were. at the end of the farye i gave her two more and said she could learn to juggle now. her face was a picture she just looked so happy. i hope you dont mind me giving some things away but im sure they wouldnt have found a happier owner if i'd have charged.
    thank you all again
my DS2 is looking after an egg at school for 'parenting' classes so last night i found myself knitting a bazzare little green onesie complete with little arms and legs to keep his egg warm and safe. LOL

Sorry been absent ... Busy, busy, busy as we all are. Trying to get DMIL sorted for Christmas as she is worrying about it all. All done now which would be fine if she did not instantly forget it is all done and start fretting all over again!!!!!

Never mind we managed a lovely weekend with DS ,DDIL and young William. He is in to everything!
Now we are off to a friends for a day or two as she is going through a bit of a trauma at the moment.

Will read back properly when I get back on Thurs ..... So much special love to every one of you. I know things can be very hard at this very emotive time of year. Hugs to all
Try and do a good deed every day.
