    Dear Sharon
I am so sorry about Joshua --- I am sure it will be a phase and soon he will see what he is missing being out of contact with his family. Also sorry about Daniels having such a difficult time. I hope your Mum perks up for Christmas and the ops in the New Year helps with her health.

    Kathy
I am thinking about you and your family -- The gentlest thoughts to you all.

Pfungi--Hope all is well with you post cataract op. Mine is amazing -- I do look more wrinkled all of a sudden though!

Lots of love to one and all. Making the little crochet owls from the pattern on Tangled Happy -- Really cute.

HAS ANYONE GOT A TIP---- My victoria sandwiches do not seem to rise anymore. It is so annoying. I have bought smaller tins. 7". Tried different flours and fats but they are so not light and fluffy. I am using the all in one method but I am sure they were better than this not long ago.
Try and do a good deed every day.

    Morning all
Its a real cold and frosty one here today.
I certainly wont be venturing far

We picked DGS up from school on Friday and he stayed overnight, I promised to save the tree for him to decorate and he was out of his school clothes and into play ones in no time at all, then it "was come on grandad up in the loft" his first time up there and he loved it. OH boarded it out some years ago and he was able to walk about, he found all sorts up there,
They got lots down between them but I knew there were things missing so up we go again leaving grandad at the bottom of the ladder, and we found a couple more boxes to hand down. We spent a few hours sorting out then decorated the trees yes trees, DGS found all 3 so we had to have them all down, usually do have 2 as we put one in the porch on a timer instead of having the porch light on.
Needed to do a bit of tweaking here and there when he was in bed though ;) but all in all he did a good job

We had a lovely day on Sunday met up with BIL and SIL for our Christmas meal, this year DS2,DIL and DGS came as well we all had a great time and ended up here afterwards, DGS is getting sooo excited and has had me knitting all sorts of things snowman, father christmas, little stocking and now a penguin he just loves knitted toys, and as they are only small he can handle them easily and they tuck into his gruffalo trunkie when he comes to stay.

kathy - Have the dolls got their heads on now? hope so... can't have your OH getting freaked. The garlands for your Mom sound a lovely idea any chance of a pic? I hope all goes well for your BIL. Shame you can't get back to Blighty for Christmas but roll on January it isn't that far away. You are welcome to the hug here's another (((HUG))) x
shaz - I am sorry to hear Joshua has gone off on the lonely road for a while but he will get in touch soon I am sure, he will miss you especially at this time of year. Hope all goes well for your Mom and the op's xx
chalky - yes thank you I am very pleased with my barnet...but its getting very white now in places...at least it's not a bad colour :) Christmas will be a wonderland for William this year he is that bit older and eveything is an adventure at his age, there's nothing like Christmas with a little one about :xmassmile ... sponges hmmm how did you used to mix it machine or hand? or did you have a new cooker when you did the house refurb?
salome - your DD sounds like a very sensible young woman and good luck to her and her intended, her wedding will be remembered for many years as one where everyone got involved. Hope things settle down soon for your Dad.
Ginny - I hope you and your OH are ok x
jean - are you locked up in the sweatshop???;)
isom - hope all well with you and Mom
f1 - hows things with you?did OH have the nose op, hope it wasn't cancelled again.
psso - hows things in your neck of the woods? hope all well at work

Yesterday we popped into see MrsTwins and had a good long chat, her tree is beautiful its a white twiggy tree with white and gold trimmings on it and sparkly white lights with butterfly's here and there. We dropped some butterfly's and flower's off to up the stash a bit as I know she has been low on them for a few weeks now, and I had so many small balls of yarn I thought that would be a good use for them :)

Well I seem to have rambled on more than usual today at this rate I will use a whole page to myself :o but now I must away to do the dreaded ironing...love it I do...NOT ;)
Love to all and keep warm (((HUGS)))

Lots of love to everyone .. More than a few tears here this morning. Especially when I read these wonderful comments on my blog this morning!

The saying goes give your children " roots and wings!"

And this one finished me off... So beautiful.

"Our children are like pieces of our hearts walking around outside our body. May your heart be safe on her adventures"

    Thanks Ginny xx

Cooking for Christmas which is probably not helping!!!! But DD1 is coming to pick me up later and cut my hair. Then we are going for a mooch around Totnes. xx Love to you all

    Hi

Well, my blanket for my eldest is nearly done now. 7 more squares to go, and a border :-) I get excited when I know I'm near the end of a project. I love putting them together. Always fascinates me that separate pieces of items become one functional thing :-) The lovely thing about putting squares together is watching the colours blend and compliment each other. Most the blanket is together now, just two strips to add, which the 7 to do squares are part of :-)

Seems like my dad is going to be moved asap. Can't see it will be this side of Christmas, but the wheels are in motion. Not an easy decision to make as he is so frail, but it's the right one under the circumstances. Shame really, because the carers are lovely, and it's not their fault things are so difficult there. They do their best with what they're able to.

Be blessed and prosperous. Hugs to all who need one ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

Hi everyone and thank you for your good wishes for my BIL. He started his latest round of chemo and the worst of it so far is an aching arm, so that's not too bad. He has the next dose on New Year's eve.

My Mum has good days and bad days - it's just the nature of Alzheimer's I suppose, but my sister says that when it's a good day, it really is a good day, which is lovely for her and Mum.

Well, I've just done the update and, no Pippa, you didn't miss it! I can just imagine your DGS doing up the tree with his grandad! Christmas is all about the children, isn't it? I am so sure that we'll have moved back to the UK next year that I am looking forward more to Christmas next year than this one! One doll has a head so far, and other one should be complete by the end of the day. Then I have to embroider the faces which is the bit I always struggle with with dolls! I'll start Mum's Christmas garland once the dolls are done, and will post photos then. How is your OH?

Shaz - your poor Mum having to have more ops. Please give her a hug from me. So sorry about Josh but you have done all you can; he knows where to find you and he will want to contact you again at some point, I am sure.

Chalky - funny that you should mention Victoria sponge cakes. I am having to use French flour (obviously!), and I found recently that their gateaux flour was not only not rising as well as usual, it was also absorbing the butter from the buttercream icing, and it was really driving me mad because it made the sponge feel heavy. Usually my sponges are well-received! Anyway, I switched to the French version of plain flour and added a rounded teaspoon of baking powder, as an experiment, and the cakes turn out really well now. I also use the all-in-one method, and I weigh the eggs first before cracking (!), then add flour, butter or marg, and sugar each at the same weight as the eggs,if that makes sense.

Salome - good luck for your Dad's move; I hope he can be settled and happy very soon.

ISOM - I hope you get enough rest.

F1 - good luck with your 'hysterical', as you call it! Hope DOH's op goes well.

Jean - how are you? I hope you are well and not racing around doing too much.

Well, it's been really cold here lately, but at least it's been bright and sunny once the hard frost has gone. I hope it's good where you all are.

I hope you all have a good day and I am sending hugs to all who need them; this is a lovely time of year but it can also be a sad and difficult time of year, too.

Mioliere, so glad you BIL isnt too bad from the chemo. Am looking forward to seeing your pics.

I see to be organised though we dont have much fuss here at Christmas, the kids dont expect huge gifts so I buy lots of little ones - which they love. Got some lovely thermal tights today from Lidl for DD, she will need them.

We are celebrating DGS went to the dentist while Mummy had her check-up and let the dentist check his teeth :T:T:T Major success, Dd noticed a lot of autistic children at the groups she goes to have terrible teeth. His were lovely apparently.

Oh spends a lot of time snoozing on the couch now, he gets lonely upstairs in bed he says. So I am happily crafting away and the mountain of stuff grows. have given lots away but there is still a lot. Am aiming on selling it all next christmas when there are reasonable numbers of the same things, Im in no rush.

Shaz I do hope your son turns up on your doorstep at Christams, I have a feeling he will want his Mum when all his friends go home to theirs. x

Chalky, check your camera is ready so we can see lots of pics of William :D

Hugs to all in need. i will be around on Christmas day while Oh sleeps so anyone having a quiet Christmas and in need of a chat I will see you then xx

Having seen everyone else use looms and create gorgeous things I really wanted a set...I wrote to Santa on more than one
occasion with no luck, I had hinted to family and friends. In desperation I even came right out and asked for a set of looms NOWT!
I bought a set for my great niece and even had to show her how to use them last May while on holiday, soon as I returned
I caved in and order myself some...........they were duly delivered to DWS. I really thought my dear wee sis would post them
on to me so I could get started NOPE. So when DH rolled back here with a car packed full to the gunwales with lots of lovely things
I was extremely good and packed it all away, planted the two new apple trees, cut up the beef joints, stuffed the freezer
full of goodies for later..........then settled with the set of looms and yarn - minimal instructions and look at this already - just wait till I find some time for myself and a few half decent patterns
