Help!!!
Has anyone got any ideas how to solve a bit of a disaster!
I have not been able to life the kettle full of water so I have been using a measuring jug to top up the kettle. All fine ....... Until I made some bread and measured some vegetable oil in the measuring jug. I then obviously topped the kettle up before I washed the jug!!!!!
You can see it can't you?
The boiled water has a film of oil over it and the drinks taste foul.
We have washed the electric kettle carefully with washing up liquid inside. We have boiled it with washing up liquid. We have washed it with vinegar and boiled it with vinegar . So far no luck. As soon as you boil the kettle you can smell the deposit of oil and it is forming a scum on the tea.
The kettle is only a few months old and was an expensive one.
Has anyone got any ideas please???
Thank you.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -

I don't know if this would work as it's not exactly the same as a water kettle but try googling for "how to clean a popcorn kettle" because you obviously put oil in the machine when you make popcorn. Heat 'n Kleen kettle cleaner seems to be recommended a lot - it's for the inside of a kettle and is designed to remove grease (and carbon residue).0 -
Afternoon all
dry but sooo cold here today...but no matter I have had a lovely time with MrsTwins we have been out and about delivering blankets...it's so nice to see the lady/gent who is the new owner of a gorgeous cuddly blanket. At the first home we visited there were a lot of ladies and just one gentleman, he saw the blankets as we laid them on the table and he said he loved a red blanket he was so pleased when we gave it to him...Just what I need he said to keep my feet warm... then another lady a gentle soul was so thrilled with a blue blanket she was near to tears.
MrsTwins has lots of photos to post on SIBOL later, so please go take a look to see where we have been

Chalky - I know it sounds daft but eucalyptus oil gets rid of grease in clothes, (obviously you need to wash them afterwards though), so I'm wondering if it would get rid of the oil in your kettle? You would need to boil it a few times to get rid of the smell though. Not sure if I'm being of any help or not - it's getting late!2025 Fashion on the ration

I have a feeling you dont actually do much resting Mrs Twins
there will be lots of elderley people very touched by the blankies this year.
im off to the dentsit at 12 hoping he will remove a tooth I broke last week. I can say this dentist has restored my faith in his breed after many many years of cruel treatment which left me completely phobic about them. So am off for a shower then Im done.
