Hi everyone from someone who is still recovering from a rotten chesty cough; the antibiotics are woking but a bit too slowly for me. Thanks for the hugs and the good wishes.
Shaz - I am so pleased that your mum is recovering well.
Pippa - hope OH is doing well.
Ginnyknit - hope your OH is doing well, too.
Family-wise for me, my BIL is not doing so well and the general medical opinion is that the cancer is spreading more rapidly now so it's a scary time for us all, especially for him and my dear sister, Jane. The jaundice is starting to come back, too, so the stent is not working so well now. He is due to have another CT scan this week. They have just moved house with the help of their three strapping sons, who took care of all the heavy stuff, and I'm hoping it's just the strain of moving that has made him feel less well, so I am keeping everything crossed.
My Mum has been feeling really down and the matron at the home thinks her mind wants to give in but her body doesn't. The doctor put her on antibiotics but they made her so low-spirited that she was only on them for four days. Since she came off them, she is a bit happier, but I really think she has lost the will to carry on now that she is no longer independent. It's so sad but she really couldn't look after herself, so she really does need to be where she is now. My not-so-nice sister is back there again, and Mum always seems more unsettled and agitated when she's around so I just wish she would leave her be. I'm not going to intefere unless she starts upsetting Jane again. I feel as if I am on standby now and need to be ready to go back in a hurry if needs be. It's a very worrying time for the family right now.
On the plus side, I have a new batch of work to do - compiling the content for a new website for someone about SAD (the winter blues), which is really interesting because there's a lot of research to do.
The weather has been pretty gloomy -we had rain for about two weeks but that's stopped and the sun has even put in an appearance over the last two days, although it's getting colder.
Anyway, I'd better go and get some work done. I will do the update later today or tomorrow.
Hugs to you all and especially those in need.
