Yes -- You have such a good memory Jean -- but the apples are rubbish this year-- They are usually amazing -- juicy, large and delish! But I was struggling to get the 6lbs this morning !!
Just heard from DD2 -- The owners demand -- 8 am til 10 pm with a break for lunch. Lots of work to catch up on on the boat.
Attention to detail amazing. Wife has her own cereal and no-one in the family can touch it but it and her coffee have to be ready when she gets up, Owner does not like Evian (french) water and has to his own. Beds have to be dressed up and down every morning and night. Everything has to be folded exactly. Three diferent sets of bedding for each room. Three sets of cutlery for 3 decks and they want different sets of cutlery for each deck every day. 15 loads of washing today and each set has to be separated and ironed perfectly. She has to walk on her toes so her heels do not make a sound and she has to talk quietly. They have to have cold wet hand and face ers come on the boat!!! 3 staff members are Mexiacn so she is trying to learn to Spanish!
The ships plan is Turkey, Greece, Italy, Croatia. Montenegro Sadinia,USA,Bahamas and Carribean,Amazon through Panama Canal, Costa Rica. solomon islands , New Zealand and Oz!!!!
She is missing everybody but what an opportunity xxxTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi everyone
Chalky - lovely photo of William; he's growing fast, isn't he? DD2's new job sounds fantastic and exhausting, but it's a terrific opportunity for a unique experience. I hope she gets enough time off to explore some of the countries the boat will be visiting, and that it's not all work and no play.
Jean - you have all my good wishes for your new kitchen fitting - not an easy task in France, is it, with non-square rooms and thick walls? We didn't have to buy our units in here, luckily; we bought them all over, including applicances, on the top of a campervan! I will buy one of the sewing machines this week because my sister (the nice one!) showed me the one she bought from Lidl in the UK, and she is really pleased with it. Her son, a big strapping lad of 26 and a father of three who likes sewing, has bought one for himself!
Thanks to everyone for the good wishes for my BIL; we don't know when he will have the endoscopy but I'm hoping they won't keep him waiting for too long.
My cold is slowly going away; it's been a real head-cold,this one. Without being too graphic, I think I must have blown most of my brains out in the last few days! The worst thing, though, is that my energy is really low, so I shall be glad when I'm fully recovered because the house is in need of a dust and vacuum, and I'm keeping meals as simple as possible, limited to anything that can be cooked in one pot and eaten with a fork!
Lovely weather here. It was just 3 degrees when DH left for work and it must be near 30 now.
Oh, we seem to have been chosen by another cat as its new owners! At first, we thought it may have been Louis (who has been missing for over two years now), but this one is female. Definitely a tabby but with less sharp markings. She's very friendly and affectionate, too, so I'm sure she must belong to someone. I've advertised her as 'found', and tomorrow I will take her to the vet to see if she has been chipped or tattooed and hopefully she can be returned to her owners. If not, I don't know what to do; it's hard to find a rescue centre in France, and I've heard bad things about the few that exist, so I can't send her to one.
Hope you all have a good day.

lots of lovely little hats and blankets...see what you think. Kitchen is progressing - slowly - we will win in the end or die in the trying.
Have been for the recipe for the apple chutney... now I just need the stove to remain in one spot for longer than a couple of hours and I can then go and pick the apples - thanks Chalky.
Kathy try and get to Lidl early - they fly of the shelves locally..... and I know you missed out on the last offer.
I have given up early to come up for a soak in order to see if I can ease some of the aches.. but off course I get distracted .. easy for me!
Oh Ginnyknit do not look for the yarn I sent you.......the whole wee packet (market PRIORITY here in France has been returned to me - it has been opened and stapled shut again but the yarn and my note are safe inside.........my postie said its just been returned...not delivered!! So I will stuff it in another envelope and get it away to you tomorrow - will go and check your address again on the pm incase I stuffed that up!
Have a great day folks, I really have to get into that bathroom.

morning all,
chalky, william is as cute as ever, hope you gave him a hug from me. hope dd gets time to explore the countries they visit, sounds like she has to work very hard, but what a wonderful experiance she will have. the apple chutney recipe looks easy, might have to give that a go one day.
kathy, hope the cold clears up soon. hope you manage to get a sewing machine from lidl.
pippa, how wonderful to have such a helpful son
jean, good luck with all the work on the kitchen, and thanks for the pattern links, off to go look at them now
ginny, hope your OH feels better after a couple of sleepy days. sleep is a wonderful healer.
i've been asleep for most of the last 24 housr, hence been awake at this time.
finished one pair of socks for C*****mas, only another 3 to go
hugsz to all
love shaz xxxloves to knit and crochet for others0 -
Morning Shaz......hope you manage a good day and stay awake long enough to get the essential sone.
CHALKY - question.....do I core and chop the apples or just bung em in whole after the skins come off (I just know I will be the one with the pips on my bit)) am asking SIL to bring me mustard seeds and soft brown sugar - can't source them in France.
Pippa S have a look at collect+ for uk parcels.....they go from small all the way up to 10 kilos.
off for a busy day painting - as a refreshing break from cabinet making - if I don't paint it now I will only end up regretting it and sploshing drips all over the new stuff, so I will do it while there are no worktops, doors or drawers on.......now that tells you how far we have gotten!
You all have a great day whatever you are getting up to.
