Elaine – I sort of took your advice and bought an Acer Aspire but not the version you have. The graphics were not so important because we don’t play games. I bought the V3 517 which has 6GB RAM and a 15.6” screen, and I am really pleased with it, so thanks for your help. I would not have known enough about RAM and all that if you hadn’t told me!

Glad you got fixed up with a lappy - but I wasn`t the one who recommended it - like you I don`t have much of a clue about RAMs etc. :rotfl:Know what wooly ones do ;)

Don't panic Elaine - t'was me suggested an Acer lapdog .... glad the info was useful Kathy.

Good morning -- As seems usual these days a bit hectic here-- We had to take DMIL to the solicitors and now have to pack up for our weekend in Bideford to see DS for his birthday.
I am taking white wool to make more knitted hearts for the flower decorations formy nieces wedding garlands.
Also have another little name banner to make in blue so that should keep me busy this weekend
Lots of love to you all x

    Afternoon all

bit dull here now but Mr Sun was shining earlier

We are off to DS1 and DIL's later, it is adoption anniversary day today so we are going for a special tea, the adoption service recommend marking the anniversary that a child joins the family. Is it a good thing? we have no idea but time will tell, and he is a lovely happy little feller who gives out hugs and kisses by the bucket load every time he sees us.
He does know that he is a special little boy but he is a bit young at 4.1/2 to understand fully why...but we all love him to bits and he has settled well, I can't imagine him not being here now

chalky - Well done to DD2, OH and I are so pleased for her she has worked so hard to get there, and what a wonderful time she is going to have so 'go for it girl and enjoy every minute' I say, Williams first tooth awww how lovely, enjoy your weekend and I have no doubt you will feel the tooth as he tests it out on unsuspecting fingers ;)
ginnyknit - sorry to hear OH is having a bad time at the mo, hope he gets a good sleep, it works wonders x and dont forget you need some time for you too x
jean - whats first out of the sweatshop then???
shaz - I hope your hands start to feel easier soon
salome - hope you are feeling better today

Managed to get Aristotle the Octopus put together last night, nice little chap... think I'll do a few more for the school.
I have had a HUGE ball of chunky given to me can't think what to do with it might make a sleeveless jacket that will keep my back warm in the winter...I have a pattern somewhere...or I might just make it up as I go along in crochet. Haven't made anything for me for ooo goodness knows how long

  • Hi everyone!
Glad to see Kathy back. Nice to catch up with everyone's news.

This is for next years Challenge.
Daffodils'...........yes for 'Marie Curie Cancer Care'.

We are either going to make 1 Large 100 square Blanket or
    4 Small 25 square Blankets.

Either auction for Marie Curie Cancer Care or donate them to their Tea Parties for Raffles, or their Hospics.

Would you like to make a Square? I hope so.
    I require 100.
6" (15cms) Please use a ruler as it has to be exact.
    Knit or Crochet
    Daffodil Design Square.
    Any colour you like.
Please attach a tag on the back in the centre with your Name and Country.

I'm still busy making up the Blankets for the Homes, but I have to invite everyone now so that I can get the Squares in.

    Thanks everyone

    SIBOL.

It's the first 100 that will get a place in the Blanket(s).

Hi everyone. Sorry, Pam, I eventually remembered it was you who recommended the Acer, so please forgive me. My head is thick with the cold I picked up recently. The info was definitely useful, thanks!

Chalky - I want a job like that! What an experience it will be for her! You must be very proud of your lovely DD2. And William's first tooth is something to celebrate, too!

Pippa - I hope the adoption ceremony went well. I can understand that you feel a bit dubious about it, though, especially as he is so young.

Well, the latest with my BIL is that my sister has just texted from hospital to say that he is awaiting blood test results to confirm that he has what the doctors suspect is appendicitis! I hope it is that, because they can deal with it immediately, but Jane and BIL are supposed to be moving house within the next six weeks so my sister will have to rope in some more help because she is not too mobile. They must wonder what will happen next, poor things.

I have a horrid head cold so I'm feeling a bit muddle-headed at the moment, and I'm trying to get to grips with the keyboard on my new laptop; it's very different to the one on my desktop!

I hope you all have a good day.

  • Oh Kathy (or should that be mrs muddlehead?) things just pile up and up in your neck of the woods. I do hope that your BIL has appendicitis - what a dreadful thing for me to be wishing on him - but you understand where I am coming from, I am sure.
I will continue to do the spready for you - if that makes things easier and takes something off your shoulders....... looks like I might even have something to add this week for myself -after weeks on things sitting half finished! Sending love and cuddles to everyone will pop back later on
