    Hi
I'm new to this thread and want to knit some squares but am not sure of the details - size, where to send them etc. I've tried looking through some of the previous threads, but several of the links no longer work :(

Would be so grateful if some kind soul could summarise the details for me :)

    TIA

Hi everyone. I've been out for most of the day so this is my first chance to catch up with you all.

Jean - I hope you start feeling much better soon. You must be fed up feeling rough. The squashy booby thing went well but it's such a performance compared to the quick in-and-out I've been used to in the UK. AND - although a lady did the actual mammogram, I then had to have a physical examination by a male doctor so, as I said to DH when I got home, 'that's a first - I've been fondled by a Frenchman! Anyway, I get the results in about two weeks. I feel reassured now that you've said a cat of yours went away for 22 days - that gives me a bit of hope for Louis. As it is, next doors big ginger-and-white tom seems to have moved in instead - he's spent the afternoon lounging in our conservatory! We left him there while we went out and he was still soundo when we got back!

Serendisglair - thank you so much for the links. I shall go back and have another look.

Judexx - a warm welcome to you. I'm sorry some of the links don't work. Loving Hands (http://www.lovinghands.org.uk/) take squares for charity, and you can also make big squares for them which they send to animal charities for pet blankets.

Mrs Twins (http://www.sunshineinternationalblanketsoflove.blogspot.com/) collects 6" squares which she sews together to make blankets for the elderly - take a look at her blog; she receives squares from all over the world and makes a fantastic job of sewing them together.

Also, just a few posts back from here someone (sorry, I've forgotten who!) has posted a link to Knit-a-Square, another charity that collects squares.

If you apply to join us here http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/?v=1&t=search&ch=web&pub=groups&sec=group&slk=1 I'll 'approve' you then you'll be able to see loads and loads of photos of all the things we make - both for charity and personal projects.

I hope that gives you some information to be getting on with! It's great to have you with us - I hope you enjoy it here!

Well, I'm just about to have a cuppa then I hope to finish my cushion, then I'll start on a cat blanket for ISOM's link.

Hope you all have a great evening.

Kathy, many thanks for such a quick and comprehensive reply - will look at all the links you gave.

I've already got some 6" squares that are looking for a home, so it'll be good to be able to send them on, and this evening I started a square knitted diagonally so as I could start without knowing the finished size.

Maytaurus - you do make me laugh. Mind you, it was a bit of an 'ooh, la, la' moment! One that I won't forget and it will make my Mum laugh when I tell her! I certainly wasn't expecting that bit because they don't do the physical exam in the UK.

Anyway, what a lovely cheerful post from you as usual. Thanks for all the links - I only posted about where to send the square for the newbies, but you found them loads of links for square patterns, too, so I'm sure they'll be pleased with all the extra info.

Well, for some reason I woke up really late this morning - we'd had a busy day yesterday and the neck pain I sometimes get reared its ugly head, so it took me a while to get back to sleep. Today, I need to do a last check of the holiday home because the guests arrive on Saturday so I will do that this afternoon.

No sign of Louis yet - it's two weeks today since we last saw him, so we're still keeping our fingers crossed. Our neighbours are back now so their dog will be happy that they are back. We've been there twice a day to see him but it's been a lonely time for him most of the time, and I've felt really sorry for him. He's so lively and scares me a little because he's so big, although he's only being friendly and gets excited when he sees us. I couldn't deal with him on my own so DH always has to come with me! I will tell his owners that he gets bored and lonely. They won't get him 'done' because they say he'll get fat (which I don't believe because we have plenty of friends with male dogs that have been done, and none of them have got fat). He just needs plenty of walks and they don't take him out, so his boisterousness is not his fault. Anyway, rant over - I've worried about him for the last ten days but at least his family is back so he won't get lonely any more! Sometimes you just can't help worrying, can you?!

Well, I have found some chunky wook (some red and some cream) so hope to start on a cat blanket today for ISOM's charity link. I've almost finished my cushion but I dozed off on the sofa last night so it's not quite done yet!

Anyway, will love you and leave you - hope you all have a good day.

I will probably do the update for this week tomorrow - hope that's OK with everyone? I think tomorrow might be the least busy day for me!

By the way, can you believe this? DS2 and his family are on holiday in Dorset - they paid £17 EACH (though baby was free) for the Sealife Centre and then had to pay an extra £5 for parking! I couldn't believe how expensive it was and neither could they! What an expensive day out for a family.

Wow -- It is sooo quiet. I think everyone must have their hands full with the summer holidays. Not that there is any sunshine here!!
Hope the newbies enjoy staying with us and I am sure they will soon find their way around the patterns especially with Mays wonderful links!
Doh is laying Oak flooring in the hall. It was some spare bits that we have had for ages plus some added by DS so it is going to be truly MSE but there is plenty of tea needed , which then goes cold amongst all the concentration so then w top is called for!!
I am making a batch of hedgies for the Hedgehog Hospital. This gloomy weather is doing them good because people don't just flock to the beach!

Then I think I am going to start some wrist warmers for people who did not have them last Ch****

    Lots of love to all
Try and do a good deed every day.

    Hello everyone :hello:
Have'nt been in since the weekend, MIL had another fall Sunday afternoon luckily she was'nt hurt just shook up. The paramedics checked her over and said no damage done, thank goodness.
She keeps asking us if she can go in a care home, the wheels are already in motion so hopefully it won't be too long before we hear something. It's what she want's....so why do we feel so guilty???

I took my Mum out for the day on Tuesday nothing too demanding just Bon Marche,Wilkinsons,Bodycare then into the charity shop for some books then back here for a cuppa and a sit down in the garden, she really misses her garden but she would'nt be able to cope with one now she is the first to admit that but as she say's "it does'nt stop me missing my lovely plants"

    :wave:Welcome to judexx,katy54 and
nice to see you back serendisglair
kathy - Do you think Louis heard you say he was going for the snip???;) I am sure he will turn up soon, my neighbours cat was missing for 6weeks when she went to France last year he escaped from her friends house and went walkabout he was found in a shed, the people had been feeding him, they stuck posters up on all the lamposts, needless to say she was overjoyed to have him back none the worse for his adventures.
ISOM - I have quite a lot of full, half and bits of chunky wool so will gladly do a blanket for the cats/kittens. I will PM you for the address.Hope the camping went well and the weather stayed nice and dry for you :)
may - your posts brighten my day
mrs-m - just to let you know I am thinking of you all
Jean - hope you feel better soon
chalky - have PM'd you. Love the needle cases

Well OH has just got back so off to make a cuppa then have a sit down with my crochet until dinner is ready, beef caserole today as its such an awful day.
    Back later

Hi everyone. I haven't been around much this week, my computer got a virus and had to go to the shop to be fixed. It's OK now but I am £50 lighter. I managed to do loads of knitting though. Just finished a hottie cover for a present and then decided to do a little bolero for my stepson's wife's daughter, gosh aren't families complicated? Anyway they have just had a new baby,a boy, so that makes me a step grandma. We are visiting at the weekend, I have about 3 bags of goodies to take, and can't wait to have a cuddle with baby.
Not much housework being done, we are still in a mess following the leak we had. We have a huge machine running to dry the wall and the noise is awful.
It's a lovely day here although we had a short thunder storm earlier. We have steak from the farm shop for dinner, a bit pricey but worth it. Must finish the bolero tonight.
    Love to all.
