Thank you so much Elaine, will check that out!

Well just a short post to say how much we are looking forward to Pippa S visiting us next week.
After the success of the big meet in France with Kathy we thought it would be lovely to extend the friendship on here to a " meet" in Devon. So really looking forward to getting to know Anne and her DOH next week.
Try and do a good deed every day.

    Hi everyone.

Chalky and Pippa - how lovely! Another meet on this thread! Please don't forget the photos! I just know you'll have a wonderful time. Pippa - I can vouch for the fact that Chalky (and her DH) are truly lovely people!

Chalky - hope you manage to get some trousers made for your DD. I know that when I was a dental nurse, the uniforms were very expensive. The boss paid, of course, but it still annoyed me how much they cost. I always wore black trousers (my own) so he only had to pay for the tops! The other thing with some uniform suppliers is that the sizing is huge for some reason - the first ones I ordered in size 12 were huge; as they charged the earth to return, I ended up keeping them and altering them to fit.

Well, my cushion is nearly finished - I just have to sew in all the ends and I am determined that I will do that today as part of my new resolution to complete one project before starting another! I'm looking forward to starting a cat blanket (for ISOM's charity link) - in chunky with a big hook, it should work up quickly.

The weather turned out to be horrid yesterday afternoon and evening, despite a good start to the day. It was actually quite cold - in France, in August?!! I'm pretty sure that, if Louis the cat was still around, he would have come back when it turned wet and cold; still, I can't help looking for him all the time.

Well, I'd better go and put that kettle on again!

As promised, here is a photo of the lovely gift my neighbours bought to thank us for looking after their dog while they were away in the south of France. I'm sure the ceramic soap dish is beautiful but I just can't take the pressie apart because it looks so lovely! blogphotos090.jpg

The soap smells delicious, too, and, as it's Savon de Marseille, it will be lovely to use; the little cicada is also ceramic, the flowers are fabric, and the ribbon is organza, but I just can't bring myself to destroy the vision it creates!

F1widow - I've had sinusitis a few times and it's a horrid horrid thing to have, and does make you feel really ill, though not always with a temperature. It sounds to me as if that is what you could have. It can make you weak and dizzy, too. Is there perhaps a drop-in medical centre near you that you could call on for a second opinion from a doctor not attached to your usual practice? One thing I do know is that if you're feeling that ill, it just can't be 'anxiety', so a second opinion is worth having. I hope you can get to the bottom of it and start feeling better soon. I'm fine, by the way - thanks for asking! All I need is a finished house to live in!!

  • Hi all
Just a quick fly by as I wait for the FIFTH(!) load of washing to finish - heaven knows where I am going to hang it as the lines are already full!!

Far too much for me to catch up on following my 10 days away, so I hope I cover everyone and everything by passing on love and hugs to everyone who wants them, needs them or even if you don't , have one anyway! Healing vibes to poorlies, pick me up vibes to those in dark corners (I am in one at the moment, and it seems like a long way out) and finding mojo good luck to others. Hope that covers it!

Well. We got back from Norfolk on Friday evening after a whopping 7 hour journey home(!) eep - reminder to self not to travel on a Friday, especially on the A1 North. Anyway, had a lovely time, proper family seaside type holiday and the littlies had a whale of a time.

We did beach, sandcastles, paddling, feeding the animals at a wee family zoo (where DS fed the sheep and the donkeys, and also held a chick and a guinea pig), strawberry and raspberry picking, and just generally chilled. One of the highlights for me was meeting up with the fabulous BlackCrow on Sunday afternoon at Potter Heigham where we fed the ducks and the swans. It was lovely to put a face to a name, and there were so many coincidences between us it was quite amazing. She has also restored some of my mojo - so BIG THANK YOU to Tally for that too! And on her recommendation we found the Eels Foot Inn, and the food was, as expected, amazing! Interesting conversation on the way back from meeting her with DS (or at least some of his 5 year old observations):

"Does Tally have to go to a special petrol station to get her fairy dust, cos I've never seen one; and is the fairy pust pink and sparkly?!"

"If her little boy and me have the same birthday, then are we twins?"

Bless - once again, thanks for brightening the weekend Tally, it was a pleasure. Also, can you PM me your address please...I have a wee something I need to send down. And when you get the bike up here --- we will show you round!

I managed to do an Aids/Oxfam jumper whilst on beach outings and ......big achievement of the holiday...I HAVE MASTERED THE ART OF DPNS!!! I now have *nearly* one sock completed!!! SK - you would be proud of me!!

Back to reality now, and back to work on Tuesday.

    Love to everyone,

    Dawn xxx

Dawn - great to hear from you. I'm glad you had a good time. I remember Potter Heigham from the days when I lived in Norfolk in the 1980s! It's great that you met up with Blackcrow, too!

mioliere what a beautiful present. Perhaps you could reuse the flowers on the packaging of your Mum's cushion?

f1widow I do hope you find a doctor who will listen to you soon, but I wont hold my breath. Good luck anyway.

PurpleTeddybear sounds like you had a great time, and well done with dpn's, evil things. Please come out of that nasty balck cupboard:)

Chalky good luck with making trousers, hope it works.

    Love to everyone xxx

purpleteddybear - sorry to hear you are in a black area - anything we can help with? I sympathise i really do - but well done on you for dpns - i really admire you - circulars and dpns normally fly across the room when in my hands I will tell you - how nice to meet up and your 5 year old having such funny conversations how sweet xxxx

kathy - thanks for that - have suffered with sinus problems for years and knowing how I feel I think it is a sinus infection (told the Dr(s) that I spoke to that in the past when it has got this bad I need antibiotics - I never really had a high temp before either) trouble is my anxiety is going through the roof as I hate feeling so dizzy and weak especially for so many weeks - I know they dont like giving antibiotics but let the body fight - its just a good job I dont go to work because I could not have gone - in fact one day I begged OH to stay at home to look after DS as I didnt feel well enough to be in charge of him

Oh can anyone tell me what is considered a high temperature as my thermometer was really bleeping on a couple of days and was around 37.2/37.4 - dr said oh no high temp is 38

WIll have to try the Drs again tomorrow me thinks

Is everyone having a good day ????

    Judexx and katy54
Sock knitter, what sort of things would you like for the xmas fair stall? I could manage a few things there methinks. Hope your new man turns out to be a good ‘un.
Kathy, that gift is so lovely, no wonder you don’t want to take it apart. Hope we get a picture of your cushion when it’s done.
F1, hope you feel lots better soon, it must be so hard for you. Some doctors just love to have a peg to hang any ailment that comes along onto.
PTB, glad you had a lovely time on hols and enjoyed meeting blackcrow, you’ll soon have your mojo back.

I was talking to a lady who is going to take some hats for me to North Manchester General Hospital, who will be very pleased to accept them, so I’m sending a few from my stash and see if they’re ok. I have started on some red and white ones for Shelley and done a few stockings as well, but I’ll save them and send them all together in a month or so and update those then.

So just a small update for me

    10 baby hats
    6 RWB squares

Hope all the mia's are ok, Sending hugs and love to everyone
