Hi everyone and thank you all so much for your kind words about Louis - I'm really hoping he is out 'tomming' and will return soon. There is a fetching new cat on the block, a dark grey fluffy one who looks female, so perhaps he has been sewing his oats before it's too late!

Chalky - you may well be right. We've had cats in the past that sulk if their routine is upset, one in particular who wouldn't 'talk' to us for days when we came back from a holiday, and would always disappear upstairs when we had visitors. As ISOM says, though, you just can't keep some cats in the house - Louis has all that wide open farm space to explore and it must be tempting!

ISOM - I have chunky wool that needs a project - will that be good for kitten blankets? Good luck with the meeting at work.

Elaine - thanks for the info about Caramac! We couldn't remember whether or not it was still available; it will go on the list for things to bring back from the UK along with the ever-important teabags, salad cream, baked beans, and so on, that we can't get out here!

Today we are off to the holiday home we look after; we need to check that the ceiling that was affected by the leak has dried out so that DH can finish plasterboarding it, then he can plaster it. We're hoping the damp smell has started to go, too, but I will be armed with a jam jar full of vinegar that I can leave in the room with the lid off - it's great for clearing food smells from the kitchen so I'm hoping it will work for damp smells! I don't want to leave a commercial air-freshener in there because they make me feel ill (coughing and sneezing) and might have the same effect on the guests. I have to make the beds up for the next guests who arrive on Saturday, and the day before that I will go back to dust and mop the floors and leave wine and milk in the fridge.

Tomorrow we will go and collect the kitchen tiles that we ordered months ago (and were told would be in the shop within ten days!). We had a phone call on Friday to say that they were ready for collection - it's lucky we haven't been waiting desperately for them!

On Wednesday I have my first French 'mammographie de depistage' (mammogram), so it will be interesting to see how that works compared to the UK.

On Thursday I am hoping that I don't need to go anywhere!

Well, for the last two evenings, by the time I have sat down in the evenings, I've been too tired to pick up my crochet, so I really must get going with it. I still haven't sewn up my cushion - it's all ready to put together but I think it's the sewing part that's putting me off and I promised myself that I would finish everything I start before going on to something else, so I will try and do that this afternoon.

Right now I'm going to make another cuppa, so I will call back later.

    KathyXX

I've just been looking at that link, ISOM - all those gorgeous cats and kittens! There are some lovely photos on there, aren't there? I do hope all those lost cats find their way back home but it just goes to show how many do seem to wander off.

Try not to worry about Louis too much just yet ... I know it must be awful for you!

If I had a cat it would have to be indoors or on a leash cos I couldn’t cope with not being able to keep my eye on them
It’s a shame he had to go off just when you were going to take him to the vet ... typical male!
He might come back with a girlfriend ... but hopefully not more kittens!

Miol chunky would be great - more bounce for the babas to sit on!! I looked at the page yesterday and could take them all home and loved the fact that they emphasised that Poppy had been much loved...Will be interesting to see how they write dotty up-shes a character!! Praying that Lois comes home soon.
May lovely to see your post as always...you take so much time over them...Re your flowery squares am sure Mrs Twins would love them!
Bath is running so I must push on. Didnt sleep well last night - horrible nightmares again but hope that they will diminish with the anxiety. Sun is shining here and I enter the day optimistic!

Good morning to one and all -- lovely posts lately -- lovely to see you posting May ! You really are like the barometer of the thread but please no pressure we love it if you just say hi!

Thanks, for thanks for Stitch Up!! I have actually put all the pictures to date on Wooligans and just posted a long post with lots of pictures on my blog.
There is actually still 1 blanket in the midst of sewing up but I will finish that one and keep it for Lou's next shipment.
I just really needed to clear the decks and my mind for next projects. I think DD2 packing and getting ready to go on her years "jolly!" is making me realise I need to concentrate on her until Sept 1st -- not that she likes to be in my spotlight too much!!
Sorry Elaine and May -- I am sure your squares are gorgeous and I am just imagining them in a blanket.

I would still love hedgie wool, hedgies and hats for full term babies at any time if you don't mine popping them in the post.

Well I am waiting for parcels to go so hopefully I wont be last on their list

Kathy -- Hope Louis comes home looking sheepish!
ISOM -- Hope work goes well
    Mrs M-- Loving thoughts

Love to one and all x

ISOM hope all goes well for you today.
Family all came over yesterday, William has grown quite a lot and smiled at me twice, he's only seven weeks but it was a smile, honest.
GD1 will be nineteen next week, can't believe it, GD2 is four, asked GD1 why she was looking at her phone, "to see if any of my friends have texted, but no, no one loves me" GD2 goes up to her and kisses her on the ARM and says "I love you". One Nana wiping eyes.
Hope the sun is shining for you all, lots of love. xxx

Evening all. Thanks for all good wishes. Work meeting went well and was, I hope mutually beneficial. I feel optimistic about my start and manager seems supportive and understanding which is a huge relief, my main worry alleviated. Reintroduction to work is planned day by day and I begin at the start again with induction, training and shadowing which is good as when I started there was no such thing as induction! So, I hope all good and a second chance for me which I plan to embrace with thankful heart. Need to change aspects of work/relationship but again feel that I will be supported in this and am SO thankful to be able to be a social worker again, with a plan and a future!
To celebrate mum and I are having jacket pots with merangue and fruit and cream for pud! Also want to get cardi finished so that it can be delivered this week.
miol thinking of you. F1 will send you a pm now. Chalky good for you giving time for family...enjoy! Hugs those lurking etc...hugs for those that need them.

    Hi everyone

Jaqui - no, I've not tried that with the icecream but I will definitely give it a go - it sounds delicious!

ISOM - glad the meeting went well. Oh, by the way - please pm me your address. I'll dig out my chunky wool - did you say the cat blankets needed to be about 20" square?

May - lovely post again; thank you. We love your posts - you always put such a lot of thought into them.

Chalky - fantastic photos on your blog and on Wooligans - you have worked so hard!

Kinsey - I bet it was a proper smile, even at seven weeks. Must have melted your heart!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts about Louis - he still hasn't turned up so I'm really not sure what to think. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. DH said that, if he hasn't come back after two weeks, we'll just have to accept that he isn't coming back, but I know I'll always be expecting him to turn up asking for food, if nothing else. Will keep you all informed. The worst thing is we back onto farmland so I'm always thinking I see him in the distance.

Anyway, we've had fantastic weather for weeks now

DGS and DGD1 Skyped me last night which was wonderful because I've been missing them a lot since they left after their holiday. Not long now until we go back to the UK and I can see and cuddle them all over again! DS2 also phoned yesterday - he and DIL and Summer are in a holiday caravan in Dorset (it belongs to DIL's parents, so a cheap holiday!). They have taken a laptop and will try and download Skype so that I can see them, too. I can't wait to see them all for real. We book the ferry this week once we've worked out the dates. All we know for sure is that we have to be in Weston-super-Mare on the 12th September for Mum's big 80th party so we'll work our ten days around that. Her birthday is not until the 28th but she wanted the party to be held in a particular hotel which used to be a small pub that her grandmother ran when Mum was a child, and the 12th was the only day available. Everyone is really looking forward to it, as you can imagine!

I'm not getting much time to crochet lately - the time just seems to disappear. Yesterday morning was spent at the holiday home, and in the afternoon I cleaned out the car which was looking pretty desperate, and, all in all, the time just flew by. Today I have a big pile of ironing to do, then some shopping, but I'm hoping to get some crochet done this afternoon as well as some online work. Tomorrow is all booked up (mammogram in the morning and driving to another town to collect the thingy I had to order for the car - I don't mind that, though, because I shall call into the lovely second-hand shop that I found there last week!) Jean, I swear that time goes faster here in France!

Anyway, I'm waffling on again so I'd better go and get the kettle on and take DH a cuppa - he's going to be plastering all day, so he says, so I need to get him up and about!

Hope you all have a great day!

ISOM so pleased to hear things went well, you sound a lot happier. Well done for hanging on in there.
f1 widow, the home cafe is always the best. Plus no bill at the end.
mioliere, I do hope Louis wanders home soon. Sounds like you're getting excited about coming home. I know what you mean about time just disappearing, where does it go?
