Welcome back miol and BIG hugs...sure that your heart will be yearning after having such a lovely time...
Pippa am also envious re the greggs...coffee puff for me please!
Thanks for comments/support re the surgery; my mind is made up and am hoping that Ive sorted the money so I need to decide which surgeon, get the money in place and away i go. Its a roux-yn-y for those who are interested...very drastic but a positive life change for me and if Im honest wish I could have it tomorrow. My hip locked yesterday when i stood up-very painful, embarassing and scared me more than a little; support group good and just confirmed what I already knew! Am excited but in a terrified kind of way; the first year will be rough but with the rest of my life currently ticking on well (hurrah!) that is manageable....
off to try and get some hooky done as done nothing all week; sorry been remiss on charity stuff will try to improve!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Hello all
I am back from my cousins and had a lovely time catching up and sale shopping:eek::rotfl:
Was intending doing some more of my ellie squares but forgot how long it takes to dismantle Christmas!!! anyway its all down and packed away and into the garage and the mess I made has been hoovered up and now I am jiggered!!
Not to worry I will be catching up with something so I can do an update for Monday - I think that is going to be my target - to do 'something' every week.
need to find my list of UFos as well and see where I am:(:rotfl:
Mrs MP you are very naughty for worrying about that lump by yourself - we would have tried to support you and been there - anyway I am over the moon that it was only a cyst and keeping everything crossed that it goes away - but if it has filled at least you know what to expect and they will make sure they do it properly this time or they will have some irate internet people to deal with (((hugs))) and lots of love and strength.
salome congratulations to your DD and sounds like you are getting a lovely SiL - how romantic
chalky hope DMiL will be better soon and I guess she will enjoy having you both with her - I hope the weather doesnt hamper your building project too much. Roll on next week when you get to cuddle that wee darling - good to hear that they are both doing well - has your son come down to earth yet??
Jean sending you loads of hugs too and hoping your crisis is past. thanks for doing the updates I will try harder - I am even thinking of trying to get something in every line!!!!!!!!!!!!
kathy hope you got back safely and looking forward to hearing how much you enjoyed being 'here'!
shaz I am a bit late but still sending you a hug just in case you need a top up - I hope its just a minor blip - you have had such a great start to 2012 with your new home.
Mrs Twins good luck with your blanket - I am sorry I wont be able to contribute as I dont have any patterns other than granny squares and not confident enough to create a picture!!!
ISOM you are amazing - and so brave to be considering surgery - I hope the support group does its job and you feel confident and happy about what lies ahead.
Anne well done with your blanket you are fairly whizzing through those hexs! ooooooh Greggs yummyy!!! well done to DH :T
take care all
love and hugs to everyone especially if I havent mentioned you by name

welcome back toots.....glad you survived the wreckage that is known as Christmas.
Here is the basket .....decided its perfect as my current project holder the yarn stays in it so the dogs don't go taking it a walk and its not all covered in fluff from the floor either! Oh the wavey blanket is still a work in progress....me getting beyond myself with the crocheting - but I'll beat it one day.

Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping safe and warm in this awful weather. Not actually too bad here today, very cold though.
Well, wooliness has returned here at last. Got the crochet edging finished on the prem blanket at last. The 3 new crochet hooks arrived yesterday and I`ve tried them out. The knit pro and prym ones have soft rubber handles but they are round and I don`t really like themThe clover one is flat but it had a raised`seam`all around it which dug into my finger and was really uncomfortable. Mentioned this to DS when he came home and he promptly went to his toolbox and got a fine file to smooth it down a bit. A bit better now but not as terrific as I had hoped for, might as well have stuck to my old metal one. Don`t think I`ll be buying a complete set now anyway.
Have also done a couple of geezer squares and will get the others done tonight hopefully. I know,I know, I have to get cracking with the UFOs but another day or two in the corner won`t hurt them.
Gradually getting the bedroom decluttered (found some more wool I`d forgotten about) and it`s a bit easier to get to my bed :T Will do a bit more this afternoon and slowly but surely I WILL get there.
Kathy - are you back on French soil again yet or have you decided to stay in blighty, cuddling those gorgeous grandkids?
Chalky - it will soon be your turn for baby cuddling too.
I`m very lucky that little J is here all the time and I can have a cuddle when he decides to be generous with them. Make the most of it while I can as some days he`s a wee bit unwilling to oblige.
ISOM - Rather you than me with the gastric thingy  Can understand why you feel the need but I wouldn`t be brave enough to have it.
Toots - sale shopping ((shudder)) the very thought of it makes me come over all peculiar. Loads of people pushing and shoving in hot noisy shops - nah not my idea of fun at all. Any bargains ?
Mrs mp - hope that naughty lump goes away smartish. Can`t have you worrying about that for too long.
Shaz - well done with the techy stuff. We can`t all be techy buffs like Roamin can we.
Pippa/Mr Pippa - great stuff. Out and about and bringing home tasty goodies too!! Onwards and upwards :T
Roamin - hope your family crisis is sorted to your satisfaction ? How are things in the sweatshop ?
Off to do a bit more tidying methinks, then light the fire and sit with some woolly stuff later.
Hugs available to anyone in need - help yourselves.(((hug)))Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Hi everyone; I'm back!
I haven't had time to catch up with all the posts on here, but I will try and do that over the next day or so.
I hope you all had a very good Christmas and a Happy New Year. Mine was as fantastic as I expected, and I really did not want to come back to France. It was absolutely wonderful being back with the family, especially the grandchildren (who are all gorgeous, of course!), and the Christening was brilliant. We caught up with lots of friends and had such a good time.
I have since been up to my ears in washing and so on (the downside to being away!), and putting things to rights here, but I hope to resume normal service asap.
Jean -thanks so much for looking after the updates, and for sending me that brand spanking shiny new one for 2012! What would I do without you?
I'll catch up with you all later but just want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Psso have you tried bamboo hooks? they are quite nice but I always tend to go back to the metal ones and dont like clover at all; although best mate loves them!
Roaming love the pot!!
No hooky stuff for me!
Thanks all for comments re the surgery; the decision is made and referral is going in to the local surgeon. This is what I want to have for those that are interested;
http://video.about.com/weightloss/Roux-en-Y-Gastric-Bypass.htm
There is nothing brave about it really; I have had issues with food since about 4yrs and am seriously overweight; my weight had yoyo'd but is now affecting my health, social life, energy levels, sleep work etc...well everything really. Im under no illusion that its going to be easy because it isnt; Ill have to relearn eating and will no longer be able to eat more than a handful...sugar and fat etc are nono's and success rate is high. I only wish I had done it before now and look forward to having the life I want! Please dont worry; its well thought out and I am very excited for the future for the first time in a while so all good...paying for it will be a mare but what price can you place on freedom? Needless to say we wont be moving any time soon!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Hi everyone
Such a lot has happened on here and I've only read one page of posts so far!
First of all, thank you for welcoming me back; I've missed you all a lot and, although I don't really relish being back in France when my heart lies in another place, being back with you all is a great comfort.
Mrs Moneypenny - so sorry to hear that you've had such worries about that lump, and I hope it is soon sorted out.
ISOM - I think you are brave even if you don't, and I wish you well. I have heard that there is a great success rate with the op. It will be a big change in your life but will ensure that you live a longer one, so will be well worth it.
Chalky - hope MIL is feeling better today. As far as your house is concerned, from someone who has lived and breathed that sort of thing for most of her married life, I think it looks quite tidy!
Well, more of my lovely trip back home. The welcome we had when we got to our friends' house was moving enough but, when we visited each of the boys and their families, well ..... it makes me well up just thinking about it! Even little Summer who has only really met us a few times (apart from on Skype), and her equally gorgeous sister, Megan, took to us immediately, which was very reassuring. Summer is talking away non-stop, completely dry during the day, and absolutely full of cheeky character that she melts your heart. Megan is beautiful and so very cuddly, too. I spent a lot of time just sitting with her snuggled up in my arms, while we all chatted. The two oldest grandchildren, Sam and Lucy, were just as pleased to see us when we visited their house; they've both really grown up in the fifteen long months since we last saw them, and we had a lot of fun together.
Christmas day was wonderful; a dinner that was beautifully cooked by DIL1, and the whole family together in the afternoon. I just sat and watched them all, hardly believing that I was sharing Christmas with them all! On Boxing day we all visited a favourite local restaurant - the meal was lovely but they were short staffed, so it took about three and a half hours from start to finish, but no-one minded; the children were all good, and we just went with the flow in a very chilled-out way!
The day after that, we went to Weston-super-Mare to stay with my Mum; she is doing very well but does have memory problems, which we are hoping her forthcoming visit to the memory clinic will be able to help her with. I was able to cook the meals so I made sure she ate properly. She is so tiny now, and doesn't eat much at all. I wish I was closer so that I could do more to help her. My sister does all she can, but her own health is poor and, of course, she is worrying about her husband. He is on his second course of chemo but looks remarkably well. He has recently broken a rib which is causing him the most bother. They showed us photos that were taken last year when the hospital sent him home to 'spend his last few days with his family'; he looked absolutely awful back then, and it's hard to believe how ill he was when we see him now. It made me cry to see the photos. He is by no means out of the woods; the doctors can't tell what will happen in the future but they are amazed that he is not only still with us, but doing as well as he is. We are all keeping our fingers well and truly crossed, as you can imagine.
Anyway, we met up with all their grandchildren (eight now, and two more on the way!), and had a great time with everyone. I left my home town feeling very happy that I had seen everyone but, of course, anxious and worried about what may happen in the future.
After that trip, it was back to Southampton to see in the New Year (overlooking the Solent, with fireworks blazing and -best of all - the ships in the docks sounding their horns; I love that bit!. The next day was Summer and Megan's Christening, which was magical. They both wore cream silk dresses and looked gorgeous. The service lasted about an hour and included lots of hymns, then we all sang the song that DS and DIL2 had chosen - 'I am the Lord of Dance said he', and it was a riot! Everyone really threw themselves into it, including the chap on the organ, and the lady vicar. After that, there was coffee and biscuits in the church hall, then it was back to DIL2's parents' house for a lovely buffet. All in all, it was a wonderful day, and I think everyone really enjoyed themselves.
We sent the last two days staying with the very good friends who always put us up, catching up with other friends, and visiting the family again and then, all of a sudden, it was time to leave. The whole two weeks seemed to be over in a flash. Southampton was dry and mild when we left, and France was cold and wet when we arrived, which just about matched how I was feeling!
We are determined to go back around Easter, so that will give me something to plan for. It doesn't seem too far way, so I am already really looking forward to it!
Anyway, I shall read a few more of the posts I have missed when I am next at the computer.
I hope you all have a great day.
