Knit Your Square to Give Your Share - PART 4

Mrs Moneypenny -- What a worrying start to the New Year and I am so sorry you had such an anxious time at Christmas -- I am not very good with all things medical and definitely get in a bit of a tizz too so know exactly where you are coming from. I am sure that is exactly what it is --- so ---- get the wool out and distract yourself. As soon as " Operation knock down " starts and I am at DMIL's I was thinking it's been a long time since we kissed any Geezers so thought a shout was about due!! Your squares are always beautiful and I am sure Mrs Twins could do with a boost to start 2012. There are 2 old people's homes near my village so it might be worth sending pics to Mrs Twin but delivering them there to save on the postage costs. I will have a think and see what you all suggest when we get going!
Right I am off to do more packing!
It is chucking it down here and the conservatory is leaking!!! Knew it was renovation time!!!

Has anyone found a cheaper and woolfree alternative to Noro? I've seen some lovely patterns on line and some knitters rave about it but it is out of my price range and I can't wear wool.0

Crossed posts Salome --- many congratulations to your DD. I am glad he was romantic too-- it makes it all the more special.
MRS M -- if you fancy making a start --- 6" squares -- the more accurate they are in the measurement the easier my job. Also the compilation is so much easier if they are in sets of 4 with either the same colour or blend of colours. The blankets look so lovely if they have some links i.e colour/shade or pattern.
We actually do not move up to DMIL for a few days but I thought it might make a nice distraction for you.
Actualy DMIL is not too well at the moment so at least we will be able to keep a close eye on her! I hope she soon gets back to knitting baby hats as when we were visiting DDIL in hospital the nurses from the special baby care unit found out that I belonged to a charity kniitting group and she asked if I could possibly make baby hats and Angel pockets as their need is very great for both! How sad for the second! So as soon as DMIL is better I will get her needles out for her -- she can't do the Angel pockets as it makes her too sad! I know what she means but I try and make some every now and again as it must mean so much to the families.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -

Hello Everyone!
I do hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year!
I am at present collecting 6" Squares for a very special Challenge. I am making a Blanket to be exhibited in Jersey in aid of Jersey Mencap. The Blanket will be exhibited by the Organiser and then sold to raise money for Mencap. I really love doing these Charity Blankets in aid of good causes. The trouble is.... I am desperate to get more Squares in. Now would anyone like to help me?
The Challenge is called 'Your Local Landscape'.
Basically you would have to Knit or Crochet a 6" Square. I require 25 in total and I am only half way through collecting!
The idea is to look out of your window and Knit or Crochet what you see!
e.g. Gardens, The Sea, Buildings etc.,
If you want ideas and to be inspired would you like to pop over to SIBOL. www.sunshineinternationalblanketsoflove.blogspot.com
I am showing today the Squares which I have already received.
They are amazing and some full of detail, but they can also be as simple as you like!
I require the Squares really as soon as possible. The Blanket has to be received by 24th February. I know I am terribly behind on this one.
So if anyone would like to make a Square please email me preferably. sueatpigsty@talktalk.net
or pm me on here.
I have been assured by the Organiser that we will be told how much our Blanket raises as I won't be able to 'fly' over!.
Thanks so much,
Love and best wishes for 2012,
Suex0
