I am determined to get EVERTHING AND THEN SOME done before Thursday, so have been up early and did a bit of sweeping - so much calmer than that noisy vacuum! Sewing today in the kitchen where I can keep an eye on everything. Yesterday a wee robin took up residence in my front porch......now for those who don't know it I am phobic about things that fly, so I spent all day letting the dogs and myself in and out of the french windows at the back of the lounge - yep every time that I needed wood I had to go to the woodshed and get it, instead of out of the big pile in the porch, I really hope that he has gone I did leave the outside doors open all day but the wee sausage obviously loved it and stayed - I will check later this morning when I feel brave enough. Nothing to update and there I was all ready to go.........I have done a couple of squares and a wee bag but not finished them off so that will be next week then!
Hope you all have a great day, will pop back later

Afternoon all
We had the BEST time this weekend, and having the family here over night was a real treat, we sent DS1 and DIL out for the afternoon/evening, the girls and I made cakes, watched films on TV and DGD1 sat and knitted with me for a while, I think she is starting to get the hang of it now :T OH went for a snooze so we drank juice (not nanny I had tea) and ate cadburys chocolate fingers yummmm and the girls read their books to me...well it can't all be fun can it...swings and roundabouts as I told them... and after all that Strictly was on and we all loved that, and that was the exercise part of the day :j:j:j then Merlin which is one of their favourites... does it get any better than that.
Moms do on Sunday went really well, good food, good company and happy kids all 6 of them there were 21 of us in total.
DS2/DIL sorted the tables and the cake out for me, balloons and streamers and a HUGE 90 in silver, Mum just loved it, and the cake was gorgeous we had 3 photographs of her at age 14, 40 and 80 scanned onto the top, not sure how its done but they are edible.
f1 - I hope FIL recovers soon and the anti-b's do their work quickly, and he feels better for christmas, I am thinking of you all x
mrs-m -well done with the stall £27 is a good amount
jean - have you met yourself coming back yet :rotfl:

kathy - I had the same trouble with my nails had to go cut them on Friday, good job I read through what I type...some of the words were looking rather dodgy:rotfl:
well after all my waffle I will leave you in peace and go make OH a cup of tea, he has done well over the last few days and is trying all his old favourite foods, they don't always taste good but he is trying and at least he can swallow fairly normally now...hopefully the last of the radiotherapy has gone now, he was told it would take a few weeks, he is still very weak though but we are having a walk every day to strengthen his legs.

:wave:Hello, I`m still here.
Been under the weather for a few days with a stinker of a cold so have been snuggled up in bed armed with the hottie, tissues and plenty of drinks - soft variety of course.
Started Thursday night, feeling cold and shivery, woke up Friday with streaming eyes, nose which couldn`t decide if it would run or be stuffy, and generally feeling rotten. Took DS to work and promptly went back to bed for the rest of the day.
Supposed to be working the weekend but phoned in sick. Don`t really think the customers would have wanted me serving them with one hand wiping my eyes, the other blowing my nose and sneezing all over their scrummy cakes :rotfl:. Anyway, I don`t think I could have stayed awake long enough. When I`m ill, all I want to do is sleeeeeeeeep.
Seem to be on the mend now though. Less sniffling and sneezing and I can stay vertical for more than 15 minutes :T
No woolly stuff been happening here. Haven`t mastered the art of knitting in my sleep yet
Off to catch up with what`s been happening.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Just a quick pop in -- The days before our return are going really fast !! Not fast enough for DDIL though!
Sorry to hear some of our lovely friends are under the weather/bogged down/extra busy etc.etc. So lots of gentle thoughts to everyone.
A very kind neighbour gave us a bottle of Moet today to wet the babies head! Well, we can not bring it home so I hope he makes an appearance before Saturday!
I have been making some snowflakes and garlands and have just started a head warmer for DD1

Hi everyone
Sorry I’ve not been around much; there’s been a lot to do!
Firstly, Elaine- I hope you’re feeling better now; it’s not the best time of year to be unwell, but hopefully you’ll be well over it by Christmas.
Jean – I know two people who have bird phobias, and have seen first hand their reactions in certain situations, so I really sympathise with you, and hope that the robin finds somewhere else to hang out for Christmas.
Pippa – hope your OH continues to do well.
ISOM – not long before your trip, is it?
Mrs Moneypenny – how are the twins?
Chalky – the excitement must truly be mounting now!
Well, yesterday was yet another red tape day. I’ve been helping a friend to register her car from UK plates to French ones. Although the car’s French MOT (called the ‘controle technique’ and valid for two years) still has about eight months to go, in order for the car to be registered here, it needs a controle technique less than six months old. Luckily, we managed to get that bit done yesterday morning, and decided to go the Prefecture to register the car in the afternoon. We checked the website for their opening hours (8.30am to 3.45pm) and, after spending forty minutes getting there, and about half an hour looking for a parking space, then finding one and paying a couple of euros parking fee, we arrived at the Prefecture – it was open, but not the department that registers cars! So now we have to back this morning; they’re open from 8.30 until 12.45, mornings only, and that’s a government-run office!
Our other problem is with the holiday home we look after. It’s been used for about five weeks this year, and the owners have just received their water and sanitation bills, and found that the water bill (which was €79 last year) is €550, and the sanitation bill (also under €100 last year) is now €670! Obviously a huge mistake has been made, so we have to find time to go to the water company to try and sort it out. In our experience, we’ve been overcharged by three different companies here and each one has insisted that we pay the overpayment, which they will then credit back against future bills – not too much of a problem if the extra is a small sum. If the water company insist on the same, it will take the holiday home owners about ten years to use up all that credit! Its madness, isn’t it? I just hope we can sort it out over the next day or two.
Well, we are rapidly running out of time before we go away, and I haven’t even begun packing! The aim this week is to get all the red tape out of the way before Friday (some hope!), then I can concentrate on Christmas and our trip during the weekend, and the first three days of next week. I still need to write out Christmas cards; we’ve received loads already, so I must get them done and in the post asap. I still need to get my hair trimmed, and the lady who usually does it has just had operations on her hands, so is ‘out of order’ for a while, so I need to find someone else! DH says he’ll wait until we go home and visit his favourite hairdresser there (that’s if he can get an appointment the day before Christmas eve!), but I’ve told him I’m not getting on the ferry with him looking like Frank Gallagher! (It’s not quite that long!). By the time I get on that boat, I shall be ready for a good long nap!
Oh, we also had a power cut yesterday but luck was on my side, and my new Livebox survived it!
Well, that’s the story so far. The woolly stuff hasn’t had a look in lately; perhaps I’ll find the odd hour or so to get something done over the next few days; I hope so because I miss the relaxing side of it.
Anyway, I have to get a move on if we’re to get to the Prefecture this morning. We want to get there as early as possible, so that I can get back here and get cracking on things. Once she gets the car registered, though, we will then have to go and get new number plates, and take the car back to the MOT place, to have the new registration number added to the little ticket that sits in the windscreen, so I don’t suppose I’ll be back here soon! And all the time, we have to bear in mind that everything closes for two hours at 12 noon!
I hope I haven’t worn you out with my tale of French woe!
Have a great day, all of you.
