  • KATHY - you can have the infirmiere come to the house (obviously you pay for that) ......arrange for first call in the morning...ours are usually about 7 am results back next day...stuff the waiting for the cuppa malarky.....I had them daily for a month after the op,(did the first weekend my self and if I could have been let to do them all myself I would have - but the prescription means you have to employ and pay someone else. Your Doctor or local pharmacist can give you the phone number for them. The infirmieres office in the village here is above the pharmacy. They also do the flu jabs.....it's easier than the doctor - waiting room takes for ever. Letter arrived for DH saying he could have flu jab, go to Doctor for prescription, pharmacy to pick up the injection, back to doctor to get the jab. They all make money on the deal. I ain't ever going to have one, because knowing my luck I will be allergic, so will do without!

    Hi

As far as I know f1 widow, the home hasn't actually requested anything, just something mum and I want to do. I'm going to make some socks, and fingerless gloves, and mum's concentrating on these polo neck things. I'm not sure if the carer's and nurses realise how cold the dear old people get. Not because they are negligent, but they are rushing around all the time, the heating is on, and for us, when we go in, it is lovely and warm, but the old folk just sit there, They don't move, or do anything except sit, eat or sleep, and for those who can , visit the loo. So they do get chilled. Mum and I are going to present the carers with some woollie items, and see what they say. I'll ask them about hats as well when I hand over what we're making, because if their heads were covered, I think that would help a lot. I think it's something the carers hadn't thought about. There's one old lady there who I know will love wearing a hat lol. They are all so lovely, and the home is good as well, and I feel I'd like to help them, and it's little things that help.
That's so sad about the chappy in hospital. Some people can't face up to their parents being sick. It's difficult with dad, who was a very clever man, to see him led in bed, or sat in a special chair staring into space, and hardly able to speak :-( Dementia is a very sad illness.
Anyway. I've cast on the first sock. It's a snowflake pattern, so they will be fleecey and soft :-) I've loads of Snowflake. I went bonkers one year, when I heard it might be discontinued. I went on ebay, and bought a load, and yes, you've guessed it, I haven't used a lot of it lol. So the care home is going to be drowned in fleecey Snowflake socks lol.
Chalky, that teddy is georgeous :-)

Morning all, very quiet here. Hope you are all just too busy to pop in and aren`t suffering from seasonal ailments.

Very cold here today and the street is very icy so it was a bit tricky getting DS to work this a.m. I see the forecast for the next few days is NOT GOOD - gales and snow  together. Better go to the shop and get extra milk for little J, oh and Grandma will need for her cuppas as well of course ;) Not working again (daytime) till Saturday so hope theings are more settled by then.

Been doing a wee bit more of the tuck in scarf I started but the knuckles of the middle two fingers of my right hand are aching just now. Think Arthur Itis may be setting in. Another sign of advancing years. SIGH.

Kathy - hope you are feeling a bit better now. Have you started packing yet ?

Chalky - Braxton Hicks .....oh I remember it well.
When I was expecting little J`s mum, my cousin was up from Exeter for Christmas & New Year. Baby wasn`t due till mid Feb but I`d been having BH pains every evening from 6 - 10 pm regular as clockwork since end of November. Lots of family members were at my mum`s one evening when cousin realised I was having pains. She was convinced I was going to deliver then and there. I told her I`d only start worrying if the pains went on after the news at ten had finished :rotfl:. Pains stopped as usual and baby didn`t appear till 20th Feb - 10 days late.
    Lovely teddy by the way.

Seakay - OUCH ! Know what you mean about not much you can do for toes. DD did much the same as you, slipped down stairs and banged her big toe. Went to A&E and the doc said there wasn`t much they could do for her even if it was broken. Told her to take painkillers and if it was still painful after 6 weeks it was probably broken - if not painful it wasn`t broken, just badly bruised. Didn`t even bother with an x ray.
    Hope you feel better soon.

Off to put the kettle on and put on a pot of soup for later, just the weather for it :T.

kathy - what a faff about with the blood tests,

Hello one and all and lots of love tucked in! Sorry about toes, heads, shoulders and knees for that matter!:(

Hope everyone's plans are going smoothly --I know Kathy will be getting so excited :j:j It is so hard to fit everything in I know. And of course at a time when the weather wants to put its oar in!!

Hope all the "littlies" are getting excited and Litlle Lily and Lola will be getting stronger every day!

Thank you for the kind comments about the teddy and DDIL -- he is sitting on the back of the settee patiently waiting to be packed. I am trying hard not to think about it all too much and just take a day at a time. Especially as DMIL is here enjoying her holiday!:)
Try and do a good deed every day.
