    Hi everyone,

Bloomin cold here today. Frosty start to the day but no snow......yet.

Had a quick skim through but head is so wooly just now that might have missed some things.

Mioliere - you`re not excited at all yet are you ;)? Still aaaages to go before you come back. With all the red tape problems you`ve had recently will you be calling in to the local estate agents office while you are here ?

Chalky - another one not getting excited eh? ;) Not long to go now before you join the grandma clan. It`s good fun :T all the pleasure and none of the pain.

Pippa - good to see your OH is getting his appetite back. Hope you have lots of food in the house.

Socky - hope the move went well and you found room for your stash.

ISOM - lovely wreath. Don`t think I`d have the patience.

Salome - all those birthdays on the same days/ next days

I used to have one of those fake polo neck things when I was little.
Used to call them dickies I think. Found some on Ravelry, they`re a bit more modern now. Mine was just the poloneck bit with squared off front and back bits, like the grey one here.

    http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#craft=knitting&page=1&view=captioned_thumbs&query=dickie%20&sort=best

Hmmm, wonder if they would be useful for the LH challenge instead of scarves for the homeless. What do you think ? I`ve done a couple of these and they are very quick and easy to do. Had to be as mojo is still not really back.

Right, I`m off to do something in a warmer part of the house, puter is in the coldest part so not inclined to stay here too long :p

Bye for now and big hugs to anyone who needs one.

  • Hello all

Well after saying I intended to visit more often last week just disappeared somehow. Had DGS overnight Mon and he was just brilliant. 20 months old and not one cry or grumble ( until DD came to pick him up and he got told off for showing off by her).

Weds picked some wool up to make him a tank top. I chose a cream and am using some claret wool from my stash as the contrast. He will look like a cricketer next summer as the pattern is cabled.

Have done some squares in odd moments but not counted them up yet.

Salome I know the type of item you are talking about as I have one in a fleece material that I used to wear when watching DS play football in raging gales and horizontal rain. I wondered about knitting 2 shorter scarfs and sewing up the top third to make a version that I could donate to the local homeless as I thought it would be harder for them to lose than a scarf.
Pippa so glad to see OH is doing better at the moment and do hope that it continues.

Just booked an appointment to get a b12 injection later in the week. Its overdue so hopefully when I have it will get a boost of energy.

I'm still not very good at remembering who you all are and what is going on in your lives as there seems so many of you, so I send positive thoughts to all who need them and good wishes to all.:)

    Hi

The grey one on the revelry site is like the one's mum is doing. I think it's a Sirdar pattern she's using.
I don't know what the LH challenge is, sorry !!! Sounds good though :-)
That's a good idea for the homeless. When I lived in Bath, I used to go into the town and buy them hot pasties from a pie shop there. I prefered to do that, rather than give them money. They always seemed very grateful, bless them. Bath used to annoy me, spent loads on flowers so they could win Britain in Bloom comps, each year, yet on the streets were endless homeless folks :-(
Miolere, I wonder how I remember them all as well lol.
Ok, need to take one of my girls to her friends house. She doesn't know what legs are lol, not when there's a car parked out the back !!!!!!

    Good morning everyone,
A lot to catch up on, but I got here.

Chalky I have finished painting for now (!) didn't get all the ceiling done as it's beamed, the beams are ok but in between bits I have to stand on tiptoe, which can get quite painful after a while, so DH, who is a foot taller then me, has said he will do it. Trouble with that is he's rarely home in daylight so it may have to wait a while.

Pippa such good positive news about DH very pleased for you both.
mioliere, sounds like you need a rest and some tlc, you might feel better once you're actually on your way, some of it could be all the worrying you've done lately?

ISOM you clever girl, that wreath is a work of art.

roamin' dogs and clean floors do not go together, dogs win every time. A friend of mine came round the other day with her Jack Russell puppy, tiny thing, and said she didn't want him to mess up the floor. I've got enormous Oscar for goodness sake. Never knowingly beaten at it, and bringing in various bits of the garden on his fur, well he has to check it all every day doesn't he?

psso some nice patterns there, thanks for the link. I do like that little scarf.

Salome would the small cowl type scarves work do you think? Some people (me) don't like things tight round their neck.

Tootifrutti good luck and happy knitting in hospital.

Here's hoping Shaz is well and happily settling in to her new home.

    Love to everyone xxx

    Hi

Well, this old lady quieted after the carer put on the one she had, that's what made mum think she'd do a batch up. To be honest, I don't think half of them will know what it is !!!!! I see what you mean though Kinsey. I quite like a polo neck myself in the winter. I have one on now, but some don't I know. It's worth trying, because they do get so cold, and a scarf isn't really practical.

Sorry not been around for a while - have done a little lurking to keep up but not been feeling great and now have managed to fall down the stairs and possibly break two toes (couldn't face casualty so just doing strapping and icing myself as that is all that will be done anyway. Last time my friend went on a quiet Monday morning having fallen over, blacked out and possibly fractured her shoulder she was there for 5 hours and they still couldn't decide so she had one more xray and told them to phone her the result! Main delay was waiting for up to 90 minutes a time for a Dr to look at the xray film.) Anyway, love to all you guys and I hope to be more active in the New Year. Would say soon, but feeling a bit overwhelmed by Christmas at the momernt!

salome - so sad to hear that the elderly are so cold and that relatives are "MIA" so to speak. I remember so very well when we used to visit my Nan in hospital in Geriatric Ward - my uncle went every night and I used to go with him for company - there was one particular man who didnt say too much - but would nod enthusiastically when we arrived and we would talk to him -his daughter in the year that we used to come in had not been - christmas day came and she came brought a small grand-son and husband stayed for half an hour - later my uncle spoke to Nurse and asked did she live away as he had not seen her before only to be told that she lived 5 mins down the road and only came at christmas so very sad for him but maybe she could not cope with seeing her dad like this ??? Did the home say anything about wanting bits and pieces? I will log onto ravelry and have a look at pattern. xx

Well had better go surface damage and tea need attending to - hugs to all xx
