morning all, and gentle thoughts and special prayers to everyone on here, everyone seems to have so much going on lately
my wrist is still very weak, but i can manage to knit for around half an hour ata time so its improving. flat is a good size, so all my stash fitted in, unfortunatly its still in boxes, as are plenty of other things, but i will finish packing one day.
todays task is to wrap xmas pressies, havent bought a lot this year, usually i spoil my sons, but they sell most things of value, so there are no new phones, computers etc this year, only electrical thing they will receive is a deep fat fryer:):):)

Hi everyone; I've been MIA again. Last week I was determined to crack the red tape as far as I could before we go away! It took a concerted effort and meant a lot of driving around from one office to another, but I don't think I can do any more now until we come back. I have just one more task - to draft a letter in English and French for the owners of the holiday home we look after. They've had bills for sanitation and water that have each gone up from around €80 to at least €550! So, armed with information that I collected from the water board, I am doing the letter so that the home-owners can appeal. Basically, the equipment that is the responsibility of the water board failed, and there was a leak, so we think that they should pay for the wasted water. Anyway, we shall see what happens!
Shaz - I am so pleased you are settling in and that it is so obviously a good move for you! Well done; it must have been a lot of hassle, but you're in now! I think not spoiling the boys is just the right thing to do, too.
Mrs Moneypenny - hope things are a little better now.
Chalky - welcome back! I bet you are really on tenterhooks now! It's exciting , isn't it?
Jean - hope DH carried out all the errands required of him in the UK! Did you have much trouble in the storm? We were fine because our house is quite high up, but the village just ten miles down the road where the holiday home is was quite badly flooded. The weir there now can't be seen at all, and the water was dangerously close to the top of the 11th century Gallic/Roman bridge. Saddest of all is seeing our friends' beautiful garden, that runs down to a normally very gentle river, almost completely under water. It was closing in on the house when we saw it but, hopefully, now that the rain has finally stopped (after sixteen days!), it has receded. They are back in Australia until February, and we just can't tell them about it, especially as the husband had a bad accident just a week ago, and has only just come out intensive care. They don't need anything else to worry about at the moment, poor things. We have other friends close by who will keep an eye on it.
The storm was quite horrendous and I fully expected to have lost tiles and trees by the morning, but everything seemed to withstand it.
Anyway, today I am finishing off local Christmas cards that don't need posting, and wrapping up some more pressies. I still have a few more to get, which I hope to do tomorrow. I would have been all done and dusted if it wasn't for all the running around these last two weeks. Still, I shall just keep reminding myself that we have just four more sleeps to go until I can put it behind me, at least for a short time!
Anyway, after all the rain we've had, it's been a sunny but very cold day - we woke up to the first real frost of the winter, and thick ice in the water bowl that I put out for the birds. I think it's definitely winter now!
Take care, everyone.

Miol safe journey and enjoy your time in the UK!
Roaming hope oh is returned safe and well and not too exhausted!
Toots, Psso. Pfungi, red tractor, dppixie, and anyone else who posts occasionally or often... have a great Christmas...!
So many of you offer so much love and support in the knitting/crochet that you do which is so valuable in a world where take take take is the order of the day. For me even more valuable is the moral support and encouragement that we all share over the up's and downs that life involves. I know that when things have been at there worst for me and its been hard to see that things ever would get better you have reminded me that they will and given me a sense if being valuable when I felt of no value so a huge, hugs thank you from me.
Praying that you all have a great Christmas and new year...amongst the chaos and activity I hope that the reason we celebrate wont be forgotten "For unto us a child is born..."Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -

Loveley to see Shaz has moved into a great flat with smashing neighbours and loads to do.........continue to enjoy it, you deserve it.
Mrs Moneypenny I continue to pray for the littlies and send lots of love and positive vibes as well
F1, hope your FIL is soon on the mend - don't you go getting all stressed out because of parcel deliveries to the OUTLAWS.........take it easy eh
ISOM - have a great time in "sunny" Italy - even if its pouring with rain at least it will be warm rain!
Mioliere - not too many sleeps left till you are on your way.........have a great holiday and enjoy every minute saving up the good times for when you return and feel miserable
TOOTS - did you manage to empty Lidl of wool?
PSSO - hope you are on the mend - you are needed for the Christmas CHEER, so take care and get better soon
PIPPAS.- THOSE GREAT DINNERS you are feeding your OH are obviously working really well, so can you please ask him (cos I like to know) when did he try eating S***(e) I have always wanted to know the answer to that one ha ha - he hasn't lost his sense of humour either!
KINSEY - ARE YOU OUT THERE? Not seen you around for a wee while
CHALKY - Baby Gilberto will make you all wait - they have a habit of that one................check around my birthday - special people born then! (I had already tried the Mr Sheen (other polish available) but believe I was way beyond that trick - I am such a lazy sausage.
OK off to to a quick tidy up indoors after our rather long and drawn out lunch......have just seen its TEA TIME - I will get the sack one of these days. Have started a wavey/ripple baby blanket and it is coming along great. The storm lashed us all again Thursday night with a ship beaching on the south Morbihan coast not nice for sailors when its that bad. DH did get everything on the lists and THEN SOME, so no more pocket money for him this year. Only a couple of slates off the roof (now sorted) two panes of glass out of the greenhouse - again sorted - every winter I seem to end up with a couple of smashed panes - perhaps I should give up with the greenhouse and concentrate on the polytunnel instead - tough choice. Away to put the pics onto the wooligans. Love and cuddles to you all, keep safe and warm over the forthcoming activities - oh if you get snow you can send it tome please BUT NO MORE WIND - we have had plenty

Well. We are home safe and sound and after a hectic 24 hours we are all decorated but it feels SO cold still at least it is dry!!
I am just sending a huge hug to one and all --- please excuse my brevity (for once) but I seem at a loss for words just now!
It seems so strange to decorate the house with DD2 away for a second Christmas and my every thought is with DS and DDIL as we wait for this little bundle to arrive. My thoughts are so with them both and I am praying that all will be well and they will soon hold their new son in their arms!
So glad to read good news of you all and I send the gentlest thoughts to each and everyone of you especially if your hands are overflowing just noW!Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
