Hi everyone
First of all, Chalky – I hope you managed to get some sleep last night, after all the excitment! What a day it was for you and your family. I hope little William had a good first night, and that DDIL got some rest, too; even with a labour that short, it still takes a bit of effort!
Mrs Moneypenny – hugs to Lily, and I really hope that Lola is able to go home for Christmas.
Boultdj - welcome to you! I hope you enjoy it here; well, I know you will because everyone on this thread is lovely!
Jean – thanks so much for doing the updates! I hope things have calmed down at your house, though I doubt they have! Try and make sure you rest as well as work and play!
Shaz – hope everything is going well in your new home!
ISOM – have a safe trip to Italy, and a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
Linedancerann – how wonderful to hear from you! The key is always under the mat for both newbies and those who have not visited for a while.
Kinsey – take a hug from me.
Pippa – hope your OH is doing well, and still managing to eat and put on weight.
F1 – hope you stop needing all those extra pills soon. Of course, with not much sun at this time of year, vitamin D is a bit thin on the ground, isn’t it?
Well, just two more sleeps! I can hardly believe the day is almost here. I’m still racing about trying to get loads done but DH has been rained off work, so he spent most of yesterday doing the rest of the present-wrapping, which has been a great help. My DGS and DGD1 both have birthdays in January, so we’re taking their birthday presents with us, to save posting them. I’d rather spend on presents than postage!
I wasted time yesterday and it was all my own fault – I can’t even blame the French this time! In the morning, I phoned for an appointment with the doctor to go through the results of my recent routine blood test. The secretary made the appointment for ‘jeudi’ (Thursday) at 5.30, and I thought she said ‘aujourd’hui’ (today), so I turned up at 5.30 yesterday evening, only to be told that my doctor didn’t work on Mondays. It’s been a long time since I’ve made a mistake like that – my only excuse is that jeudi sounds a bit like aujourd’hui when rattled off by a fast-talking French secretary! Anyway, luckily the secretary had a good sense of humour, so we could laugh about it, which made me feel a bit less embarrassed, and she has managed to squeeze an appointment in for me this afternoon.
I’m still packing because most of the clothes I am taking are still in the ironing pile, so I’ll try and get most of that done some time today. DH always wonders why it takes so long for a woman to pack a case. For a start, he was in the Forces, so he’s been trained to pack in a military way and, I must admit, he’s an expert, but he doesn’t have to pack extras like jewellery, dresses (well, I hope he doesn’t!), and other girlie things like make-up, and so on. Plus it’s always down to me to think of essentials like the camera, battery and phone chargers, and then there are other important things like emptying the kitchen bin and going through the fridge so that you don’t come home to any nasties lurking around! Still, I panic every time we go away, and every time everything works out just fine, so I know we’ll get there in the end!
Well, I’m waffling a bit now, so I’m off to make another cuppa.
Have a great day, everyone.

I can only keep this brief as I am as close to tears as I was to joy yesterday (was it only yesterday!!!)
Baby William is gorgeous but obviously far too big a Chuuba for his mummy.
We have had 24 hours with her in intensive care after a massive haemorrhage and emergency dash to theatre. After being stitched up she collapsed and everything kicked off. We are one and a half hours away and it was the longest journey we have had to make ever. Poor son was beside himself left in the delivery suite with William,
She is beginning to stabilise but will probably need more blood -- they think she lost over 4 pints! And she is such a tiny thing!!
Anyway we are staying at their house but it seems so sad to be here with everything ready for his arrival home -- even a gorgeous blanket for me from William and so far she cant even cuddle him as she has tubes everywhere and is so sore.
I am sorry to give sad news but could do with one of our famous virtual hugs!!!Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Ohhhh dear. from one Grandma to another here is a
Mega big (((hug))) for all of you - from me,DD and Little J.
Must be such a worry for everyone as you have to rely completely on the professionals to do their best for her.
Hope all goes well for her and she`s on her feet soon.
Wish I was closer and could give you a proper cuddle.
Lots of love and positive vibes being sent.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

I can't think of the words, Chalky. You must be feeling so worried and on a rollercoaster of emotion. All I can say is that I'm thinking of you all and especially your DDIL. I wish her a full and speedy recovery. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

dearest chalky - how worrying for you all but it does sound very positive that DDiL is now stabilising - DS will be torn between the two but he will be a very proud Daddy being able to help with little W. I will hold you all in my thoughts and prayers at this special time and ask for love and strength for you all and especially your DiL - its amazing what 24 hours can do so hopefully tomorrow she will be cuddling her bundle of love! HUGE HUGE hugs and love by the bucketful for you all.

kathy how are you getting on - only 2 sleeps - hard to believe isn't it? I think you will collapse when you get in the car you will be so exhausted and excited! Its probably too late for you this time but I have a packing list - especially since I go into hospital so regularly but I use it for holidays too and since I started using it I havent firgotten anything! I takes the stress factor out of packing - you just tick things of and put them in the case!!!
I think I have finished my preps for Christmas - I neede 2 little things today and 1 of them proved more difficult than I expected but I asked the right person who told me where to find what I needed - it took most of the afternoon but at least I wil not have to go out tomorrow.
I might even find time for some woolly stuff.
love and hugs to everyone at this time - virtually all of us have a burden at the moment so we all need the support that this wonderful thread brings.
