Chalky - I'm heartened to read your news about your DDIL; I have to confess that she has been on my mind - well, you all have, and it's good that things are looking a little better than yesterday. I shall try and log in every now and again while I'm away, to see how she is getting on. I hope William is doing well, too. Hugs to your DS, too; he must be really going through the whole range of emotions; thank heavens you were back from Spain. I truly hope that they are all home for Christmas.
Jean - HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A BRILLIANT DAY - YOU DESERVE IT!:bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:
Well, I have just ONE more sleep to go now! I still have a huge pile of ironing which I started ages ago but we've had visitors so I had to stop; I shall be ironing and packing long into the night, I think! My excitement level is almost at fever pitch, so I shall be glad when we finally leave the house and are on our way.
ISOM - glad to see that you've arrived safely. Enjoy!
Mrs Moneypenny - hugs to the twins.
Tootifrooti - I am a real list fanatic, and have bits of paper all over the house now; still, things are gradually being ticked off.
Well, I'd better get back to that ironing or we'll have nothing decent to wear. I will keeping calling in to see how Chalky's DDIL is getting on; we don't leave until around midday tomorrow, so I'll have plenty of time (I hope) to come back on here before I go.
Have a good evening, everyone.

Wow just seen this thread. I would love to start knitting for charity... How hard/easy is it? I have just been made redundant so I have plenty of time on my hands. I may as well put it to good use! Can anyone point me in the right direction to any tutorials/websites etc?0

welcome Embrace, not sure how much you can do in the knitting department if you are a complete beginner here is a link to some photographs on how to cast on and knit (I find them easier to follow than the videos - as I can go at my own pace)

You don't need to be in a big rush to MAKE SOMETHING - just get used to the knitting and the terms that they all use. Below is a link to easy knits
http://knitting.about.com/od/knittingpatterns/ig/Easy-Knitting-Patterns/
Now if you can already knit and have a hankering to make something specific...........well just ask us we can direct you to all sorts of lovely patterns - give us a hint as to what you would like or if you have a preference for one type of yarn and we can come up with loads of ideas for you. Sad to see you have been made redundant BUT the opportunity to help others is out there for you to take
