Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine has flown by and I can’t believe it’s Monday already!
Sindy – welcome to you. We knit, crochet and sew for charity. This thread has been going for about two and a half years. We make items that we then send to various charities which distribute them to those in need. A lot of the things we make are for premature babies, but we also make for other good causes, including squares for sewing together for blankets, animal charities, and so on.
The idea has been so successful that the thread just grows and grows so, every now and again, we have to start a new thread. This is the fourth one! At the beginning of this one, you will find links to the charities we make for, plus some great links to charities and patterns.
Besides the charity items, we also talk about the personal projects we have on the go, as well as our lives in general. This is a really friendly thread full of people who are kind and generous. I do hope you stay with us – you will receive a warm welcome from everyone! If you have any questions, please ask – someone is always here with an answer!
Thanks for all the totals – I will do the update later on.
Yesterday was a good day – we went to a family barbecue then to visit friends who have been asked to take in some abandoned kittens, four in total, just about seven days old, that had been left on the corner of a busy road. They were just in a bundle on the road itself, not even in a box, so I’ll let you work out what the cruel owner’s intentions were. The kittens are gorgeous. Our friends are currently feeding them every four hours, night and day, and they are thriving, really full of beans now, friendly, and very affectionate, but still very tiny. Luckily, they have all found homes to go to once they are around eight weeks old.
We didn’t get back until the evening, then we had to go and feed the dog we are looking after for our neighbours. We bought some treats for him, and he had great fun hunting around for them once DH had spread them around the garden. We have to put an anti-bark collar on him at night, then take it off in the morning, otherwise he barks all night and some of the other neighbours have complained. We can’t hear him from our house because the walls are too thick, but he has a very loud bark so it must be pretty annoying for those who can hear him.
Today, I have a few errands to do then I shall sort out my oddments of wool and start making some IS hats. I can’t make anything bigger, really, because my stash needs re-stocking, which I will do when we’re back in the UK next month.
Anyway, hope you all have a great day.

a very good morning to everyone and you too MAY - so glad to hear that you are okay, even if it seems like everything is a bit rubbish around you. however, we are thinking of you and our best wishes and highest hopes are with you.
well - we are now eventually sorted and installed in our house in france. it has been a bit hectic as on the day we handed back the flat in london, we went back to our friends to have a shower and do a final pack of our bags and my OH got a text from easyjet saying that our flight had been cancelled. that meant we had to rebook and presume on our dear friend for another night - one last curry takeaway!!! anyway, our flight on sunday was late, so we only arrived home at 8pm, only to see the delivery van down our road with the driver clearly sleeping away the heat. he arrived at 7.30 the following morning to drop our stuff off and then went on his way. i had to get my stuff in order as 2 of OHs friends were arriving at lunch time - they stayed for 2 weeks and i must be honest, it felt like i was running a hotel. doing all the cleaning and their laundry and ensuring meals were ready around their golfing/leisure times - as much as i love those boys, i was happy to see them on their way - i need a break now.
i have been doing the odd bit of hooking (when the golf got too hot and they stayed for one extra beer) and am now nicely on my way to making my goal of 14 hexagonal jumpers for when i go to south africa.
socky - sorry to hear that your boys have been misbehaving, i wish i could give some advice, but unfortunately all i can suggest is hanging in there - i must tell you that you are one very strong lady to be able to handle what you do, hats off to you!!!!
isom - lovely to see you in your wedding finery - i hope that you had a smashing day - i bet it was fun.
jean - sorry to hear about the shingles, i hope that you are all recovered now - when i next go shopping i will buy you some pringles (and eat them for you too - which flavour, oh sour cream, my favorite!)
everyone else, sorry if i have not written a personal message - i was up until late last night catching up on 7 pages or so - so, i send hugs and lots of love to those who need it and to the rest of you - well done on your efforts - it amazes me that there are such wonderful people out there who will help someone they have never seen before and will probably never see, but recognise that some people are in a really bad situation through no fault of their own.
in case you have not yet done the update, Kathy, i will add mine:
UPDATE

Just a quick pop on.
Good to see you back again May :-)
I've got a good bit of my jumper done I'm knitting. It's looking pretty. Mum's sending some stuff out to Rumania, she was saying, so I think I'll pop it into her bundle :-)
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all in need of one ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

Hi everyone,:hello:
Been over to see DGS today he is sooo cute only just got through the door and he said come on nan, so off we went under the stairs where it was dark enough for him to show me how his Bob the Builder torch worked, he even told me to shut the door, unusual for a 2 yr old I think.
OH finished doing the top 2 panels of the fence before the girls came, he decided to do it in feather edge boards, they look so much better and last years longer than the usual fence panels which is what's down the rest of the garden, so now he is giving it a coat of Kreosote.
ISOM - Hope the wedding went well, its so nice to put a face to a name, love the top BTW. You made me laugh when your friend said( just get on with it and take the photo) my pics always come out with that look on my face as well :rotfl:
Kathy - glad you had a lovely time with your family.Just looked at your barn it all look's so peaceful and the cows are gorgeous
Have you done the figs yet? as have just looked at mine and they are'nt the same as on my sig, the last time I posted an update was 25th July top of page 24 post 461:o
shaz - Hobbycraft is wonderful, I could spend hours in there but OH is not so enamoured of it and gets a bit impatient to be out of there, a bit like me in Halfords:rotfl:
Jean - rushing around again as usual I see
May - nice to see you posting again we have missed you, but my goodness you certainly have had an awful time of it
dpixie - what a journey, and visitors as soon as you get there

Hi all
Pippa - I'll do the update tomorrow and take a good look at your totals. DH is out for the day so I should get some uninterrupted time!
Glad you had such a good time with your girls; you must be missing them now. Your DGS sounds lovely - it must make your heart melt to hear him call you 'Nan'! That's my name, too!
The cows were lovely to look at but the farmer told me this morning that he has just retired, so there will be no more! We went round to thank him for cutting the grass on our building plots (and to force some euros on him!), and he offered us an aperitif - at 10am!! It seemed rude to refuse so we ended up enjoying a glass of some really strong stuff with him and his wife, while our breakfast was still going down! Don't think we'll be making a habit of it but, if it's a regular thing for him and his wife, they are both doing well on it!
DPixie - what a busy time you've had. I hope you get really settled in now that you are actually here!
I hope to take my time tomorrow reading all the posts I missed while I had family here last week; I feel I still haven't caught up with you all!
Anyway, must go and dish the dinner up.
Have a lovely evening, everyone.

DGS is such a lovely little boy he is getting to be so much like his Daddy was at that age (you would never know he was adopted) I just love him to bits and yes I melt when he calls me Nan:smileyhea
What a shame about the farmer will they be moving now he has retired?
I have a nice relaxing evening with some wooly stuff planned, shame I have'nt got a frys turkish delight or some maltesers as well
