Hello and welcome rummer-- Hope you enjoy being a part of this wonderful thread. It would be lovely to hear from some of the other lovely newbies who have joined of late --- or is everyone snowed under squares and strips!!

Kathy-- I have just read back a page or two and I am so sorry to read of your DBIL and your wonderful Mum -- I am sure you are worried stiff. Lots of gentle ,loving thoughts coming from here! You really will be home soon and sometimes a new eye sees things as they really are. You may be able to help so much with Mums appraisal. There really is little joy in getting old!!!

Pippa I hope the last effects of trhe radiotherapy pack their bags and leave really soon so that DOH and you can have some respite. Wrist is such a pain too! Just as you need to be fully operational xxx

Jean I hope the steam has stopped coming from your ears!! I love your bookmarks. What a great idea. How is the sweatshop?

F1 I hope you are managing to get out a little. I know the internet is a wonderful source of inspiration for all things but I know how great you feel when you manage a little trip! Hope DS is well and happy at school.

Kinsey Hope all calm in your neck of the woods!

ISOM I bet you are relishing every second of your time off!

Mrs Moneypaenny-- How are the little ones? Are we allowed to know their names. I should love to think of them.

Shaz Woohhoooooo! You go girl! A new page-- A brand new sheet! That does not mean you forget what has gone on before but it gives you all a chance to change the style of writing the story.

I know lots of people have their hands overflowing or are just quietly clicking on with needles and hook but lots of love to you all!!

ONLY 4 WEEKS TO GO TIL GILBERTO'S DUE DATE!! Dear DIL is very big-- a big neat football tucked up inside the tops!! How tiring!!
Try and do a good deed every day.
  • morning everyone, just sitting down with a coffee while i get my breath, have finished emptying the loft, majority of it was wool in bags, so i just kept on throwing it down, later i have to go box it all up, at least thats one place empty, i shall miss that space to have all my woiol in, now it will have to live in boxes and bags.

chalky, four weeks will soon fly, baby may even put in an early appearance, my two were 4 weeks early, how exciting a new baby in the family

    updates
1 hat and one scarf for me,
and one hat and one scarf for mum.

i dont think i'll fit in much charity knitting over the next couple of weeks, but i shall try, if i find the time, must finish daniels sox off first, they are part of his xmas pressie, along with everything else lol
at tesco they are doing a clubcard token promotion, and i exchanged my vouchers for double the points and bought both lads a deep fat fryer for xmas, both have asked for one, as they love proper chips, and as they are so skinny, they can eat them, unlike me, who has to eat healthy in order to maintain, or even possibly lose some weight
hugs and lots love to all

    Morning all
foggy cold damp O what a lovely day ;)

Have just sent DH off to bed he is very cold today heatings on but seems to make no difference sometimes, he had a bowl of porridge before he went up, thank goodness for porridge it's been a god send.
He said he fancied trying a bit of braised beef and some mash for dinner, luckily I had some in the freezer, so it is now in the oven cooking slowly it will be fall apart yummy by the time it's finished...will probably have to put some through the blender for him though...but no matter as long as he eats even a small amount,

hello Rummer welcome to our happy band anything you want to know just ask there is always someone around to help :)
jean - the flowers are gorgeous good idea using them as bookmarks never thought of that.
chalky - Just had a wander through your world, supposedly just for a quick look...and an hour later I came out fizzing with all the things I want to have a go at, the blanket your DIL has made is beautiful love the twirly edging
kathy - yes same here just love it always have, right from childhood same as sausage and mash and home made treacle sponge pud with custard, ooo making my mouth water now
shaz - you sound so positive, it will be a lot of work but worth it, I am so happy for you
f1widow - he ate it all, was only a bit but its a start, we both love shepherds pie it was one of the first things I cooked him when we got married

I sent a parcel of assorted bits and pieces and some flower brooches down to DIL and DGD's for their school christmas fayre must say I really enjoyed doing them. Never had any brooch backs though so had to use safety pins. Had a look on e'bay, the company I ordered from sent them the next day and delivery was free, and they cost less than £2 for 20 :T wish I had thought before but never mind

Off to check up on dinner now
    enjoy your days all

    Hi everyone

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts about my mum and my BIL. My mind's in a whirl nowadays, and I'm finding it hard to concentrate on anything properly. Besides the worry about mum and BIL, I'm also really anxious for my sister, Jane, who is having to shoulder it all on her own. My other sister and my brother live in different parts of the UK; Jane is the only one still in our home town. Her own health is very poor, and it seems so unfair. I've never felt so far away and, TBH, I just want to move back now, so DH and I have been talking about maybe making some new plans in the New Year. I just hate this helpless feeling when there are worries from home, and it makes being here feel like a thorn in my side. It sounds like such a good idea, living abroad, but the reality is something else; you never think about what happens when things go wrong. And, let's face it, I don't think France has ever wormed its way into my heart!

Anyway, Rummer - welcome to this wonderful thread. I do hope you enjoy it here. Please feel free to ask any questions; we are a very helpful, friendly group!

Chalky - where did all that time go? Just four weeks until your life has been turned upside down in the nicest possible way. Things will never be the same again, I promise you! DS2 and his family Skyped this morning, and I've had Summer singing about 'ten fat sausages' while Megan (who is now, at eight and a half months, almost walking!) was dancing! Summer walked at nine months, so DS2 and DIL2 are going to have their hands really full once Megan is walking on her own. They'll really need eyes in the backs of their heads! I've never heard of children walking that early! My eldest didn't walk until he was two years old, believe it or not! The doctor said he was just bone idle! Luckily, he didn't stay that way and has run a half-marathon today!

Anyway, Pippa - I hope your OH is doing well. I think about you both a lot.

Shaz - it's so exciting for you, isn't it? Good luck with the move!

Kinsey - I hope life is being good to you?

Thanks to you all for your totals. I should be able to do the update in the morning.

BY the way, Chalky - I love the cardi and, Jean, I love the bookmarks!

Love to you all, and all those who are MIA at the moment.

:D Thank you all so much for the warm welcome :D

I think I will start with a puppy blanket, that sounds simplistic enough and I have loads of acrylic yarn that I want to use up. What kind of size should it be?
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • How about 15" x 15" for the puppy blanket? That would do a small puppy as well as a wee breed of dog?? I was trying to remember the size of my pup - but as she is HUGE and always was cow sized no point in going there. Good luck with it Rummer

Sounds good to me -- I am sure any size will be fine as dogs come in all shapes and sizes. Good Luck with it and a bit of stash busting!

  • morning all, up early as cant sleep. have a bit of an upset tummy, but also very excited. get to see my flat today, and sign for the keys.
i do think the council should give us more than a week to pack and sort things properly tho. maybe cos i have so much stuff, and so badly organised, packing seems to be taking an age, and no one offering to help me.
was lookinbg at moving tommorrow, but no way will i be ready in time, so a change of plan there me thinks
    hugs all

here at last is a picture of the UGG boots I knitted ages ago I hope this works I have spent ages trying to upload for some reason could'nt get Imageshack to co-operate... so in the finish had to just copy and paste it

I must admit they are not one of my best efforts and not to be repeated, I had to shove a ball of wool into it to get it to stand up :rotfl:

    back later
