Don't worry caracara - we all started where you are now and some of us haven't progressed much further!
This thread is all about doing what you can and being supportive - which is why we are technically off topic so much of the time.
In the same way that on MSE there are no stupid questions, on this thread there is no boring knitting!

hope my comments on the council haven't upset you Socky - please don't think that I don't feel for you because I do, just wanted to say that on this occasion I don't think that the council are being b***** minded for the sake of it.
Actually, your house sounds so lovely that I am surprised that you want to move at all. If the council are happy for you to stay where you are with single person occupancy, would it be easier for you to do so at the moment? You could have your own sewing and knitting and crafts room, a pets room, maybe an office and/or a storage room for bargain bulk buys and/or preserves or the results of foraging (like a sort of pantry?). Advantage of the pantry/ store room idea is that you wouldn't even have to heat it
hi seakey, no your comments havent upset me, your right, and i would never have done it with a private landlord. it was done when my ex lived here, and we were planning onbuying the house anyway, so we didnt really think it would matter, fast forward a few years, and it obviously doees, and i swear i would never do anything to a home again without permission.
luckily i have a very good friend, who works for a disability charity, and she has spoken to the council, and read them the disability discrimination act, which says they have to make reasonable ajustments to policies to cater for disabled people.
result is, i can not swap with the lady that wants this house, but i can bid on another suitable property, and the council will put the loft back to how it was as part of the modernization (sp) works due to start next year
would be a lovely family home for somebody, but it is too big for me to manage on my own, and has massive gardens, that i never use, but have to keep the grass under control

a flat would be so much better, all on one level, no gardening, and a fresh start.
have had many happy memories here, but some awful ones too, that give me nightmares, and arnt helping my mental health

Been clicked by the osteopath and feeling a bit delicate so now going to just watch sir alan and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
Hugs those that need them...fingers crossed re flat socky; do you have to bid on properties? Sometimes just goodto have a clean slate and fresh start isnt it; re the going away you can go on trips with small groups and maybe that would be less lonely and opportunity to make new friends? Just a thought...
    Hugs all!

thanks for that link ISOM, i have some felt, so i may try the needle cases, i think they would sell well at the church xmas fayre too.
yes we have to bid on properties, so they cant tell me how long i might have to wait, cos it depends on who's bid, and what their circumstances are, eg, over 60's are always priorities, then over 50's then over 40's etc. obviously houses have different criteria to flats, but its a flat i want,

  • Just popping on to say a quick hello to you all. Cold is coming on a treat and I had my first session with counsellor today (complete angel of a lady), and I cried most of the way through it --- am feeling slightly calmer than I was, but still low and this is just the start of a long process I think. All talk of red and gold balloons, pink frilly party dresses and a need to find "me" again. Am working on it, but all very slowly.

Made jam tarts with the littlies this afternoon as it's all i could do, then some doll clothes for Tiny Tears. Hair tomorrow and another day off, then back to work Wednesday. Not too sure if i should take some time off to help? Any suggestions?

Need to sort LH SS stuff too, but again, slow and steady will sort that.

Phew - not so short and quick after all

    Love to all

    Dawn cx
    :hello:
  • dawn (((big hugs))) glad you found a counsellor that you liked, hope you find yourself soon, hope the cold clears up soon, as that can often make you feel even more down too.
enjoy the littles whilst there are still young, they grow up too fast

(just found out this week, that both my boys, aged just 16, have both had sex, and with the same girl too:eek:but on different nights)

having your hair done is a nice treat, and will make you feel better too, or least it does me

  • Thanks Shaz -- was feeling pants before the cold, but I know what you mean. Hair has needed doing for weeks and weeks, it was having the spare £5 to get it done (trainees at the college salon, all properly supervised, fab job and v cheap).

I just miss my Mum....end of. Not sure who Dawn is anymore....

    Dawn xx
