Hi everyone - just calling in to say that I'm sorry I've been MIA for the last few days. The cold that started the other day decided to get nasty on Friday, and I've been fit for nothing for most of the weekend, shivering and aching and so on. I don't think it's the 'flu but it's felt almost as bad! I think it's starting to go now, so I hope to be a lot better by tomorrow, and I'll catch up with you all then.

Lots of love and hugs to you all and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Thanks, Chalky and Kinsey. Annoyingly, I still don't feel a hundred percent. I've had to run a few errands this morning, and now I feel exhausted so I've just forced myself to prep everything for a good old-fashioned stew which can cook itself slowly through the afternoon without too much attention from me, then I shall probably have a nap and, hopefully, wake up feeling a bit rejuvenated.

Chalky - I hope you've been able to wind down after a busy few days of entertaining! The wind and rain is obviously telling you to settle down with some woolly stuff.

I hope everything works out for you and that you can find a way of exchanging houses; you could do with a fresh start, couldn't you?

Pippa - I think about you and your OH a lot, so hugs coming your way.

Oh, by the way - some news that almost made my cold go away; as you all probably know, DH and I are going back home to the UK for Christmas, and it's all been arranged for us to spend Christmas Day at our eldest son's home, and he's invited our youngest son and family, so we shall ALL be together on the day PLUS, and this actually made my cry when DS2 and DIL told me, they have arranged to have little Summer and Megan christened on New Year's Day to make sure that we don't miss the occasion! As you can imagine, I am over the moon, and even more excited about going back.

Will catch up with you all later; hope you are having good days!

Oh's hands have been so cold for a while now, I think it must be because of the Morphine, so I knitted him some handwarmers with thumbs in, they seemed to do the trick :T

Don't worry caracara - we all started where you are now and some of us haven't progressed much further!
This thread is all about doing what you can and being supportive - which is why we are technically off topic so much of the time.
In the same way that on MSE there are no stupid questions, on this thread there is no boring knitting!

hope my comments on the council haven't upset you Socky - please don't think that I don't feel for you because I do, just wanted to say that on this occasion I don't think that the council are being b***** minded for the sake of it.
Actually, your house sounds so lovely that I am surprised that you want to move at all. If the council are happy for you to stay where you are with single person occupancy, would it be easier for you to do so at the moment? You could have your own sewing and knitting and crafts room, a pets room, maybe an office and/or a storage room for bargain bulk buys and/or preserves or the results of foraging (like a sort of pantry?). Advantage of the pantry/ store room idea is that you wouldn't even have to heat it
