Well thw washing machine has been going for 12 hours solidly ---- It is a VERY slow, ancient,Spanish one with low water pressure because it is Sunday but that is still ridiculous!!!
Anyway all the beds, rugs, towels, clothes and kitchen cloths are washed. Mostly ironed and away because it has been such a glorious day and we are cream crackered. We had a really lovely time with our visitors but now it is back to sensible eating/drinking and exercise plus of course the most important of all woolly stuff!
Please forgive me for not catching up with you all but I want to send a great big hug to one and all and just jump in the deep end again!!
I am sure lots of gentle hugs are needed and a very special welcome to any new members.

I have just had a peep at the Loving Hands website and the challenges are as great as usual --- Just think of us all helping elephants next!!

Well I promise to be back in body and spirit from tomorrow and I send lots of love to one and all xxxx
Try and do a good deed every day.

Hi Socky - council problem is probably an insurance issue; unless the house beams are replaced by metal ones that go the full length of the roof then you are not allowed to call the conversion a rooom (fire regs). Yours (which sounds great by the way) looks like a room so the council would be held responsible if a future tennant used it as a room eg for a child's bedroom and there was a fire or other event that caused injury or death. The Council would be held responsible because they are the landlord.
At the same time, especially with finances the way that they are, they cannot justify using tax payers money to put right an unauthorised alteration to their building. They are probably entitiled to insist that you put it right if you stay or not, so I guess that we should be grateful that they are not being jobsworths about it.
I guess that you have to look at it the other way around; if you were a landlord who found out that your tennant had made unauthorised alterations to your property that didn't comply with building or fire regs, would you feel like paying to put them right? Or would you feel like taking action against them for breaking their tennancy agreement?

Anyway, hope that it all works out and that you had a lovely time in Scarborough.

Welcome to the thread Caracara. If you knit every row of your square it's called garter stitch and the edges won't curl.
