Good morning and lots of love to one and all. Big gentle hug to anyone who wants one! Special thoughts to all those with their hands overflowing! Shaz -- hope you feel a bit brighter soon!
I read yesterday
" You can have sympathy for anyone but, to have true compassion you have to walk in their footsteps!"
It really struck a chord with me as sometimes the people who have the biggest burdens to bear are very quiet and you don't realise their troubles.
Well I went to my first Zumba class this morning!! It is called Zumba Gold which I am sure translates very neatly to Zumba for the getting old but it was such fun! The teacher was brilliant and the music wonderful.
After that we went to the little Pueblo on the hill and got these beauties!
And here is a friends recipe which is absolutely delicious if you want to give it a go!
AUBERGINE PICKLE
1 Kilo of aubergines
500g onions
whole head of garlic crushed
2 tsp brown mustard seeds
3/4 pint of wine vinegar.
3/4 kilo of brown sugar.
1 1/2 tsps of salt.
2 heaped tsps ground cumin
1 tsp made - up mustard
2 tsp curry powder ( Thelma uses the following instead )
2 tsp Garam Marsala
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ground coriander
small amount of cayenne.
Thelma uses a pressure cooker.
Chop onions and aubergines into small pieces. ( Could use whizzer )
Cook in 1/2 pint of the vinegar until soft ( 20 mins in pressure cooker)
Add sugar.
Mix garlic and spices into the remaining 1/4 pint of vinegar and add to the pot.
Cook for further 20 - 30 mins, stirring until thick.
Bottle in sterilised jars and try and keep for a month before eating!!!Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Shaz hope the gp could help you.

Socky good to hear that the crisis team on the way...keep us posted; I do worry for you as its awful feeling so low ..really do hope thay can help; good distratction for you! Did GP change meds for you?
F1 hello you! How you feeling?
Kinsey the craft fayre is 18th Nov...am honestly loosing the will to live with it esp as it was announced "in passing" that the fund is to be got rid of next year which made me want to cry; we have all worked so hard and put so much in and it was obvious people dont realise how much "you" goes into each bit made...I understand the reasons for it but also felt quite despondent and tearful; am back to "well, we'll go out with a bang then" stage but was a tough day...thankfully my other crafty friend gets it so had some support and know you will all understand. Anyway back to crochetting a long thin "tube/scarf" kind of thing which a friend made and they look great so thought Id try to knock a couple of lovely noro ones out for it! Thank you for asking though!
Chalky aubergines are a stunning col!
Miol get well soon and not long to go! Only just over 50 sleeps to Christmas now!!
Right lovlies off to get on with it and eat some healthy cocopops for tea!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
What beautiful aubergines Chalky!
oes the pickle retain the pieces of aubergine and onion or is it more of a puree?
Good luck with the craft fair ISOM - I know that it can be very depressing especially and this stage and with all the work pressures and attitudes but you know that you are doing a good thing!
Just had a call from my sister and will be cat sitting for her 7th to 21st so that she and Chris can get away and hopefully visit some zoos with an eye to getting him a job exchange. He has to go back to Oz soon. Anyway, afraid that this means I will miss yet another knitting club, but count me in for the Christmas do.
Deepest sympathies Socky - the stresses just seem to keep piling up on you. Do hope that the crisis team can help. Assume the boys are aware of need to protect against STD's? Not sure what's in the school syllabus these days.0 -

morning all, feeling bit rough didnt sleep well. the gp didnt change my meds yesterday, instead she called out the crises team to be involved. a nice lady came to see me who is a nurse within the crises team, they have offered me 'intensive home based treatment'. i havent heard of it before, but she explained i would get the same treatment as i would in hospital, but within my own home.
everyday either a doctor or a nurse will come out and see me, and there will be 24/7 telephone support. today its the pyshchiatrist coming to see me, to discuss a change of meds. feel a bit of a failure as i've been in this situation before, and thought i'd never end up like this again, still i know that it can and does get better and gives me hope
knitted for hours last night just to keep my hands busy and my mind off other things, wrist is doing well, just stiff, and not as flexible as it was.
isom, good luck with the craft fair, i know how stressful it can be, i did one last year for my local church
seakay, enjoy the cat sitting, sounds like fun
hugs for all
