Thanks for the welcome.
Am sure I will get to know who you all are soon and hope to be able to contribute.
Will start on the squares now that I know what I am doing. Long term health issues mean that I spend many hours sitting in hospital and drs waiting rooms so it will help to have something to do that doesn't need too much concentration.knitted so far 2011 24 Baby Hats 11 Bunting 24 Emergency squares 1 Angels Pocket 1 Baby Blanket 19 IS Hats 1 Sands blanket 12 Mrs Twins squares 2012 24 Baby Hats 6 Angels Pocket 7 Baby Blankets 14 Baby Buntings 2 Body Warmers 1 Baby Jacket0 -
Well !!! I am officially bonkers!!¬ That is my diagnosis!
As you all know I never "do" mornings and went off like a shot of a gun this morning! And really I have only just stopped. There must be something in the air as we all seem to be like it just now!
Anyway it went like this -- "Oh good I have finished with the scraps! Oh what is Doh doing with those lovely linen shirts! Oh my goodness they would make the most wonderful shabby chic bunting!"
It was amazing how many I managed to get out of 2 shirts and the buttons always come in handy!!
So back in the sweatshop!!
Anyway the most important thing is that the moses basket is finished!!!
Then Doh wanted me to help him sort out his Mums 2 lofts- Did anyone realise Tupperware comes in about 1 million sizes and shapes!! Add to that anything else you can imagine and you might get the picture. Oh! and don't forget the complete set of Dickens and 3 sets of Golf ClubS!!
And then someone kindly left me another bag of green tomatoes so of course the chutney pan had to come out!
So now I am finished and I will not be up at &.00 in the morning!!
Mrs M-- Your work is gorgeous.Love that bunting!
Pippa -- Thinking of you
Jean -- Your Snow people are so lovely and going to be of so much help to everyone
ISOM -Hope your Mum has a great time
Kathy-- Filing! I love evrything organised but am quite happy for someone else to do it! Hope job works out well for Doh!
-Psso- They would miss you so much!!
Anakat -- Isnt it lovely that everyone loves your sheep!
Kinsey, Pfungi,PTB,Seakay,May,SGT,DPIxie,HappyCrafter,Laura and anyone else MIA -- lots of gentle thoughts x
A very special hello to Knitter Nan-- I was so sad to read of your very special Grandaughter. What a very sad time for your family. I am so glad you have joined us and please pop in often.Glad you are enjoying KIssing the geezers!
Tootifrooti -- Lovely you are making squares.
I have been thinking about the next "shout". We are actually at home next Spring instead of returning back to Spain. We want to be home for a few months after the little one is born, and we have to have some much needed work done on our house.
We will have to move out for a while-- We can move in with DMIL ( now you get why DOH is sorting her lofts!} whilst the work is being done.
SO -- I will need something to keep me occupied and making up the blankets is something I really enjoy so if everyone is happy I will send out a "shout" after Christmas! Of course if anyone wants to make a "shout" before please feel free and I will send my set off to that call and make some more for the Spring Operation Stitch UP! Thank you for all your support up to now.
So if you are making squares right now.Sets of 4 in the same colour or shade make my life so much easier. As does a 6" square using double knitting wool
Let me know what you think!Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
chalky can you just confirm you mentioned you would like the squares in DK wool is acrylic ok or do you prefer 100% wool spring sounds fine unless anyone needs a "shout" or even little whisper via pm before then
thank you all for the lovely comments about my photos
welcome to our newest memberknitter nan, im so sorry to read of your sad reason for knitting but i hope you will find friends and happiness in our little group.
can everyone with poorly wrists please slow down and let yourseves mend
SK hope you are alright
hugs to all who need them
went out last night it was eldest DS school awards ceromony he got an award for services to his house school and community, it brought a lump to my throat that he wore his grandpas cream dinner jacket for the evening. he was given it by grandpa a couple of years ago and it hung in his wardrobe. after gp died i noticed a couple of times it was hanging outside the wardrobe so i know he gets it out when he wants to be close to him. one thing gp always used to say to him when he was doing well was 'make me proud' i think he wore it so gp was in some way 'there with him when he got up on stage'. ive made myself cry now.SPC~12 ot 124

Well done moneypenny-jr#1.
Thank you so much for sharing that - I needed reminding why we do this child thing.
Had a really bad night last - it can be so tough being a parent.
Got a call from the local panto society (DD was dancer 2 years ago) saying did we know it was audition night and could she go NOW. We didn't really think it through and out DH and DD rushed (leaving uneaten dinner on table). When she got back with the rehearsal and show schedule and we compared it to her GCSE exam timetable, there was no way that we could let her take part - it would have been irresponsible of us.
So DD has sobbed her way through the entire night and gone off to school barely talking to us.
I know we've done the right thing but saying no hurt us all so much that I feel a right cow at the moment.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
aw thats a terrible situation to be in. my heart goes out to you all, surely the panto society should bear in mind other commitments and important things like exams when they do their schedules. i can imagine how you and your dd are feeling but there will be other panto seasons after the exams are done. and to be honest if you had let her do the panto and her grades had suffered theres the chance she coulud have turned round and blamed you for letting her do it. as a parent you really cant win sometimes. some children have no nterest in school and no extra cirrucilur activities ad others seem to want to do everything and there just arent enough hours in the day for them or you. i hope she comes home happier. is there a teacher she gets on well with who can help explain things and help her see you were doing what is best for her future. (other people can get through so much better than us parents sometimes)SPC~12 ot 124

Mrs-moneypenny, you've hit the nail on the head, it certainly was a no win situation.
I've now rung the panto society and they were fine with it - disappointed but fine.
I'm sure she'll come around I just hope that she doesn't go off the rails and stop studying in spite. She is on course for some good grades and has been applying herself really well. Teenagers.....
We'll see how we go, hopefully she'll forgive us eventually. There are people she can talk to if the need arises.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

Hi everyone
Mrs Moneypenny - you made me cry, too! How proud would Grandpa be of his grandson!
Fulltimemum - that is a real disappointment but the right decision, however hard it is for your DD and you. It doesn't take away from the fact that it's a real shame.
Chalky - the mind boggles at what the work on the house is that entails you moving out! Will keep going with my oddments of wool for IS hats and Kiss the Geezer squares; they're easy for me to concentrate on while there's so much going on here!
Pippa and Jean - take it easy, both of you, please!
Shaz - how are things with you?
Maytaurus - you are never far from my thoughts.
Tootifrooti - yes, it is now September; it's scary how fast the time is going this year!
ISOM - hope you are feeling a bit less sore now.
Well, off now to make a few phone calls - yet more red tape!
