Hi everyone. Chalky, that's an early start for you! Hope you are soon cured of scrapitis; well, at least until the next time!
I've just been finishing of squares when I've had the odd half hour or so but I shall start on some IS hats next to use up the odd scraps of wool in my stash.
DH has just quoted on a big job in a house not far from here. He does the first bit on Monday then, hopefully, they'll be pleased with his work and will get him to do the rest of the house. There's at least three months' work so it will see us through the winter when it's usually very quiet workwise. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, not just for the steady earning but also because I can plan my own time better when I have time to myself!
Anyway, the sun is shining and I've filled the washing line up; now I'm baking, then it's back to the filing. I've had so much red tape to deal with lately and now the paperwork has caught up with me. If it doesn't get filed away soon, it never will.
Will call back later.

I have been working on a blanket made up of 10" corner to corner squares in doubled up DK the same as I do for ISOM's cat blankets, using 3 different blues, cream and a smattering of red doubled up with navy will put a pic on when I eventually finish it, could be a while though
We have a friend coming later to fix the flashings on the roof,OH usually does all that sort of thing himself but it's not a good idea for him to be up on a roof as he is at the moment, so I have put my foot down

Hi everyone, been chasing my tail the past few days again so having a sit down for a wee while to catch my breath.
Love all the blankets Chalky and you`ve been busy too mrs moneypenny !!
I`m doing the edging of my third interwoven blanket and have finished a little prem blanket as well. Like to have a change of colour so that I don`t get fed up doing the same thing.
Was thinking of doing some little lavender bags for school fayre but not sure where to get the lavender seeds. The shop I bought them from for doing my daughter`s wedding favours has shut down now so will have to find alternative supplier, maybe online. Might see if I can find a crochet patterns for the bags as well while I`m at it.
Well my DS has split from his fiance and has moved back home again so now we have all his junk - sorry belongings - lying around the place until he gets around to putting it away out of sight. Seems to have brought back a LOT more than he originally took away, heaven knows where he`ll put it all. He must think we live in a tardis.
Of course little J is into everything and loves investigating all these bags and boxes, makes a change from pulling all Grandma`s wool out of the corner and tangling it all up. :rotfl:Think I might leave home and let them all get on with it.
I have this SERIOUS urge to go to that special shop and do some squishing and fondling and rescuing............know what I mean?
I have wool lying about everywhere but nothing is tempting me and I need to have something ready to start when I`ve finished my blanket, which should be tomorrow if I get a wiggle on. Inspiration is required in large quantities.
Socky and Pippa - hope you aren`t overdoing things with those wrists now. Take it easy girls.
Kathy - get a big pair of scissors to cut through all the red tape
ISOM - hope you are feeling a bit better now.
Big hugs to anyone who needs them and I`ll be back soon.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Lovely work Mrs Moneypenny....looks all jolly with the bunting strung out, think I might just have to make some to cheer up the place for the winter months
PippaS - hope that's a lovely haircut you got - mine is a number 4......and will be for most of the winter months I think as I can't be bothered!
Psso - great to hear that DS is back in the bosom of the family...even if it is with all his stuff and then some - have you thought on offering him the greenie? Just a mad thought ha ha Hope that new job is going well did the leggies and tootsies ever get any better...what about the deep vein thrombosis socks/stockings - I have to say the couple of pairs I got after the op and was glued into for a whole month have certainly paid off, anytime the leggies are a bit tired they are on and staying on till I feel the aches have gone. What about lavender into snowmen???? Yes I know I am nutty as a fruit cake.
Did a bit too much yesterday (built a flat pack wardrobe - easy, lifted it up when finished and just about finished myself....I WILL NEVER LEARN) so I have been extra good today and only did a short walk down the road and back, well I have to keep moving or I will seize up!
Cuddles and love to you all, back sometime soon I hope.

Hello total newbie here so please be gentle with me.
I am an experienced knitter who stopped knitting as my children grew too "cool" to wear home made clothes. Started again a couple of years ago when my eldest became pregnant and dug out all my old patterns and needles. It was great to knit a blanket and cardis and jumpers for what turned out to be a grandson.
A few months ago my daughter gave birth to a stillborn little girl and was comforted by the thought that when she got to hold her she was wearing a knitted gown that someone had knitted and donated. Since then I have been knitting gowns and hats from the ray of hope website. DD will be taking them with her to the next sands meeting.
I came across this thread when I was looking for other ideas and decided I would like to join in. I have not done crochet for years but would like to do the emergency squares. I understand about the 6 inch and double knit wool but my question is how long should I leave the wool when I have finished the square? Don't want to do them and them not be any use if I have made a mistake.

All this talk of jam inspired me and I made a small amount of strawberry jam. However, I think I may have over cooked it. It just didn't seem to want to set on the saucer. I finally thought it would be acceptable and potted it up. However, this morning the little bit that was on the saucer from the last test is VERY set so I hope that it will be edible.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0

Lovely photos, Mrs Moneypenny, I love them all!
Hi Knitter Nan and a very warm welcome to you. I am so sorry to hear of your daughter's loss; it's very sad for the whole family. My thoughts are with you all. It's heartwarming to know that she was comforted by something handknitted; I know everything we make is made with bringing comfort to bereaved parents in mind.
It's lovely that you have chosen to join us. With the squares, we just sew the ends in completely; when they're sewn together, they are all joined with the same yarn, so you don't need to worry about leaving tails.
Elaine - so sorry to hear that DS has broken up with his girlfriend but I expect you enjoy having him back with you.
Jean - now you know you did wrong yesterday, don't you? Please don't do it again; that's an order!
ISOM - I've seen on FB that your mum arrived safely.
Well, I've used some of the massive walnut harvest by making a coffee and walnut cake, and mixing some more walnuts with the fruit stuffing for baked apples which was our pudding tonight. Walnuts are also great in porridge and with cornflakes, as well as just for eating. I've cracked loads over the last few days with a view to storing them, but I keep using them up!
Anyway, I'm off for a shower then a sit down to watch Billy Connelly travelling along Route 66 on his trike - something DH and I would like to do one day!
Take care, everyone.

welcome knitter nan lovely to have you with us but so sad to hear about your family's loss; I know people who have had stillborn children and how devastating it is for all so huge hugs for you. People knit for lots of projects here and some do sands, some for loving hands (who also distribute to charities for babies born too early), some for cat charities, animal sancturies etc..the kiss the geezers squares usually go to chalky and are made up into blankets and distributed where there is a need! So welcome feel free to ask questions and chat away.
In haste here as mid gluing stuff for christmas fayre but wanted to pop in to say a huge thank you anakat for the lovely knitted bits that arrived this am! They are so cute...I may need to purchase the sheep for my desk cos tis rather gorgeous!
